Good evening,

A quick question - when we stayed at VWL and OKW, we were able to check out life vests for DS for the week and keep them in our room when not at the pool. Do they have this at BCV? We didn't know if we could count on this for our 5/7 trip or if we should pack one...? DS loves how "independent" he can be in the water when he wears his life vest.

Thanks in advance.

i beleive they do have they, i am pretty sure i have seen children wearing them, i am not sure if or how it works for renting them for the week to take back to your room. the rental place is straight across from the pool(on the otherside) from where you come in to the pool to get your wrist bands by beaches & cream. we have bought goggles, sand bucket & shovel ( bigger and different then the ones the kids get their meal in ) soft cloth balls, i also know you can rent the lazy river tubes there or you can use your own clear see thru tube. :sunny:

They do have life vests available at SAB, but they are not allowed on the slide.
So, if you want them to be used down the slide, they can not. The child must be able to swim unaidded from the end of the slide out of the pool, parents can't wait at the the bottom to catch them.

At the Kiddy Slide, you are allowed to have a life vest, and the parents are allowed to wait at the bottom to catch them. You just can't go down the slide with them. That was probably clear to everyone, but just in case it wasn't... And we were given a life vest for our three year old without charge. A nice, sunny yellow one :sunny:

Are the kids allowed to go down the large slide with a parent, or do they have to go down themselves? When we were at POFQ, they let us go down the serpent slide with DS. :mickeybar

no the child has to go down the slide my themselves and you cannot even wait at the bottom of the slide in the pool, your child has to swim from the bottom of the pool to the stairs, where a parent can be waiting

Yes, you can keep them in your room for the week..they take your check out date when you get the jacket...problem is, they have a limited supply of jackets in various sizes...we had to wait a day to get one for one of our little guys.

So my advice would be to bring one if you can...if you can't, head for the rental area AS SOON AS YOU CHECK IN.:)

If you're going to have a car, head to the nearest WalMart or Traget and buy one;)

As a side note...to go down the Big slide, your child will have to pass a "swim test" in the kiddy pool, ie, swim from one side of the little pool to the other, no touching, and no adult help:)

HTH!!

You can get a life vest and keep it for the whole time in your room. Unless your kids are good swimmers the big slide is hard. You can not go down with them and you can not always walk them to the slide and then make it back to the water in time. The steps are around back. The water the slide empties into is deep. I'm 5' 5" and I had to tread water to grab my 5 yr old who can swim but for some reason was starting to sink after he came down it. My 7 year old was fine and did not wear a life vest but, after the slide incident we put a life vest on my 5 yr old and skipped the big slide the rest of the trip. My 7 yr old was fine with the slide. The way SAB is spread out you can not see all areas of the pool. I couldn't see ANY of the other pool areas from the kiddie slide area. I can see how the pool makes parents of young kids nervous. It is beautiful though. :)
