Finally going to answer the question of "Is he mad, in a coma or back in time?".

My guess, he is in a coma and he realises he is THE MASTER! :lmao:

In one way I am really looking forward to tonights finale, but in another, sad that it's finishing. It has been a brilliant series and I love the way it has sent up the 70's, and always crack up when they crash into dustbin bins etc

There's rumours of Gene Hunt being in a spin-off 80's show -which I hope comes off. The actor who plays Gene was on the Paul O'Grady show tonight and they were laughing about Gene having a mullet and shoulder pads - should be good :thumbsup2

The thing I hate is that there have been so many clues to he is in a coma that it will really spoil things if he actually is in one. I am hoping that there is a twist. I mean, that could be a bluff for something else, like he needs to believe that to change the future..

I heard that too, I think Gene is Funny. Did you see that Cumberwick Green parody??? That was Genius!!!!!! :lmao:

I just love Life on Mars. One of my favourites at the moment as well as Heros and Lost.

Will be so sad that there is not another series. The characters are all great.

I sky plus it and watch the next day so will have to avoid this thread after 10.00 as definately do not want to see any spoilers. I am not a spoiler kind of girl!

I hated that!! I am sorry but I really disliked the finale. I was expecting it to be something good like "Oh, you really are a Time Traveller" or that he actually he is mad! It did keep me going midway when i thought they were going for the latter. However, when it was revealed he was in a coma, that was it, I hated it.

He then threw himself off a building????? OK, weird. Though it does make you wonder are we actually alive ourselves???

Oh well, At least I have this to laugh at:

I think I will stick to Doctor Who from now on.

Well I thought it was brilliant, and although it doesn't really answer many questions, I still enjoyed it

Quote of the night

Sam (to Ray) She sounds enigmatic
Ray - No, I think she was from Barnsley :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I loved it.:cool1:
My son and I can't agree on the end - he thinks he jumped off the building to jump through space/time to get back to the 70's, while I think he did it to critically injure himself and get back into a coma to get back in time.

The rumoured new series with Gene Hunt starring is to be called Ashes to Ashes.:woohoo:

I didn't get it at all...my thinking was (probably way off) that he actually dies when in the coma and when he thinks he wakes up from the coma in the present he actually is dead, which is why he doesn't feel anything when he sticks the pen into his hand and when he jumps off the roof. So because he is dead in the present time he is able to exist permenently in the alternative reality of 1973. I see it is some sort of reverse reincarnation or something like that...very confusing and I am sure there must be a simpler explanation.

Yes, I like that idea - I'll go with that. :thumbsup2
I want to think that he is actually ALIVE in 1973, not just living permanently in a coma-induced dream.

Me too. I loved the ending. I'm so glad that at the end, Sam did get to go home (1973), even though it wasn't the home he was trying to get to (2006)!

And I'm so glad Annie had the standards not to spend the night with Sam, although if that had been me - no standards! - I would have been there til he kicked me out! :rotfl:

Roll on Ashes to Ashes, although it would be even better if Sam could be in it!

Sara. :)

I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 series and will miss it. The BBC had a real hit with it, yet chose to only do a handful of episodes....what a let down.

I am dissapointed that we never got to see any Mk1 Escorts in the show, it would have been nice if Sam had gotten an RS2000 police car.

I did manage to spot a few burglar alarms on some of the houses on the sets, and some satelite dishes.

Mandy, thanks so much for those links.

I felt a bit let down by a suicide ending as for some reason I worry that some people may really believe that suicide is the answer they are looking for to escape from their life. Hopefully this show would not influence anyone who's mind is currently unstable.

However after reading the interview with the writers it seems to have been the right ending for the show and as I read further down the page on Mandy's second link many people see the ending in differen ways.

I believe this was the best Brittish show on TV for many years. The acting on Life on Mars really made me believe these characters exist.

There will be something missing now from our TV. I will really miss this show.

Still loving:-

Lost
Heros (guess who appears in series 2???)
Desperate Housewifes
Dr Who

Waiting to watch on DVD when we get time:

Prison break
second half of Torchwood
Battlestar Gallactica
