I had to come here and post because life collided with a few semi-recent threads tonight.
Like a huge chunk of the country, we've got really lousy weather tonight. Something like 6" of fresh snow and sleet, wind, half the town without power but thankfully not our half. DH & I are up late, continuing our rewatch of the MCU in timeline order, and our dog starts going nuts. This was after 11, so a little odd. Then there's a knock on the front door. Turns out one of our neighbors, who I sort of/kind of know of because my son used to buy fishing lures from her late husband's home business but who I had never actually met face-to-face before, got stuck in the snow at the stop sign at our corner. So DH spent the last hour helping her get her little car with its not-up-to-winter tires unstuck and driving her the last block to her house. And of course, the whole thing made me think of the convos here about knowing the neighbors and knocking on a stranger's door and answering the door when you're not expecting anyone. I'm not sure any situation outside of actually going to Disney World has managed to bring together so many DIS threads all at once in my real life before.
