Does anyone know if the life jackets are the hard foam ones Disney uses or actual life jackets? We are going in August and if I need to buy a life jacket I'd rather do it now.

Any suggestions or advice on taking a 2 year old?

Thanks!

The life jackets are like the ones used at Disney. I'm pretty sure that you can't use your own. The following quote is from Discovery Cove's website. If someone knows otherwise, hopefully they'll chime in.

"What do I need to bring with me to Discovery Cove?
Discovery Cove provides a mask and snorkel, towels and beach chairs. Guests may use their own masks and snorkels if they prefer, but may not bring any other diving or swimming equipment into the park."

If you mean the hard foam ones that have a buckle and are thick then yes Discovery Cove has those. But for small toddler/infants they have softer ones with head supports.

If you bring your own life jacket it must be US Coast Guard certified as a personal flotation device. Specifically you need a life jacket, not an impact jacket for a jet ski or wake board. Those do not last more than an hour in the water before becoming too water logged and restricting movement.

Also if you bring your own life jacket you must also wear a vest. If wearing a Discovery Cove life jacket you only need that and not the vest/wetsuit.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to mention its Aquatica that we are visiting. Are those the same soft vests with head rest/support? Any idea what color they are? Thanks again!
