Life’s too short...to never sleep in a treehouse! 8/27 TR is up! Link in siggie

I chickened out at California Screamin' I did not go on it... :rolleyes1 My DCA trip was before I figured out that I can actually do any roller coaster. At least once. There was a wooden coaster last summer which I am not so sure about I ever want to go on again... But loops - they are just great! :cool1:

Oh it is the BEST coaster! You'll just have to go to California again!

I'm with Jeff -- Nothing better than some chowder in a sourdough bread bowl.

I'd have to agree although anything on sourdough is right up there in my book too!

I'm glad everyone enjoyed California Screamin'!

That we did, Eric's got his pin to prove it!

Since we went the week before you, it's funny seeing your pictures & comparing them to mine. I have some very similar pictures of those same flowers. They were beautiful! Only, I found them at night & I couldn't get the best lighting.
They were SO pretty!

We went to Blue Sky on our trip a few weeks ago. All of the World of Color stuff was gone, since it was available to watch. They had a lot of stuff on the new Little Mermaid ride. As for World of Color, we saw it. I was so excited and I have to say that I was disappointed. TOTALLY due to our location that we had to view it from. Don't bother seeing it from the back of the park. You can't see any of the projections on the water AT ALL. I want to go back & see it again (from the front), but don't know when that will be......
Oh what a bummer! Good to know, I guess.

We love the clam chowder bread bowls at the wharf. There is always a major line at that place, but we always stand in it because the food is so good. Usually it only takes 10 minutes or so to get through. They are pretty good about pumping the people through there.
In hindsight, we could have just stood in line, we were hungry and a little cranky but it's not like we were in a rush! The Chinese food wasn't all that fast, the kids and I were halfway done iwht our food by the time Jeff got there and it was super close by.

Screamin' is amazing! I love that ride. I'm so glad that Eric liked it because it is a great coaster. You are lucky that you got to do it a couple of times in a row. How fun! Reading your update made me think of the music on the ride, & now I have the song stuck in my head.

I forgot about the song! Thanks, now it's stuck in mine.

It's funny, I remember liking it in 2001 but that was such an awful trip it's not a clear memory other than it was, literally, my one escape ride.

So it really was "new" to me and I just LOVED it!

The blue sky cellar was once the theater for th seasons of the vine which was a film about making wine in the Napa Vally, that is why it is themed to a wine cellar.

Thanks! I seem to remember that it was a Mondavi Winery location at one point somewhere in there...unless I'm confusing things. I think they could do a lot with the tasting room that is there now to make it a little more friendly, I was not impressed when we walked in, either with the selection or the ambiance! There are so many great boutique wines in CA and it was all main stream stuff I could get at the grocery store!

The last time I went on a coaster like that I got off thinking I was going to barf. Not from being queasy, but from sheer fright!! They might grow on me, but I'm not eager to try again too soon.

So does that mean you aren't riding coasters on your trip??????? I must have missed that.

I was pretty sad when they stopped doing the clam chowder in bread bowls at CHH. I was really looking forward to that!
Ah well, I'm quite sure you can find it back home easy enough :)

Ah well! LOVE the theming at the Wine Cellar! THat's classic Disney! :thumbsup2

Cute huh!

Yes, I really would love to go to California again... Maybe in 2012... I also have an aunt who lives close to San Francisco and we have a very special relationship - I look a lot like her and I am a little bit the daughter she never had. She isn't getting any younger and I definitely want to see her again before it might be to late one day...

did you notice what kind of things cars land will have, or was it just general buildings and such.

i wonder if they will bring it to MGM seems there is a good amount of dead space there they could add it in.

Not a whole lot of specifics though they did depict the track, and we saw the start of the track from the air. But here is some info for you :)

The new Cars Land will contain three attractions and will span 12 acres (49,000 m2). The first, Radiator Springs Racers, will be an E-Ticket attraction using the technology of Epcot's Test Track. It will be among the most expensive rides ever built at an estimated US$200 million. It will be a detailed dark ride that ends with an outdoor side by side dueling racing finale. The ride will begin with a race briefing from Lightning McQueen and end at the Wheel Well Motel from the movie. Some elements said to be featured as road details in the attraction are switchbacks, tunnels, bridges, waterfalls and banked turns.

The other two attractions are going to be smaller family attractions with smaller height requirements featuring Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, a tea-cup like attraction, and Luigi's Roamin' Tires, which looks like 1960s Tomorrowland "Flying Saucers" ride. Cars Land will also feature a life size model of Radiator Springs and several dining and shopping venues to satisfy guests.

It will take the place of the existing Timon parking lot behind the Tower of Terror and is supposed to open in 2012, after the park celebrates its 10th anniversary. Cars Land will also serve as a connection between the Golden State and Hollywood Pictures Backlot lands, to eliminate the awkward dead end at the foot of the Tower of Terror attraction. Construction began in July 2009. The structural steel has been being laid out for months as they are building radiator springs racers.

They tried them on again at REI yesterday, so I could make note of their sizes. If i get them, I'll probably go the Zappos route. I went there because I wanted to try some Chacos. My Teva sandals are still in good shape, but they just don't give enough support in the arch for my foot problem (Morton's neuroma). The Chacos were pretty cool, but the straps were really confusing. I'm still debating.
That's why I've never bought Chaco's. Did you try Keens on for yourself?

Oh, that's frustrating! So, do they sell those at Tren-D?

Current versions yes, the ones I've been buying are "vintage" the newer stuff is a little goth for me. Still don't know what we are doing, mildly stressed about it.

I remember doing this in 08. It was actually pretty cool - and they give out fresh, hot tortillas - yum!

I know! Jeff and I were all for it, the E's were kind of...whatever!

I'm glad my rambling was of help:rotfl2:

Always Rosie, Always!

that would be good timing! It all should be open by then :)

sweet desciption, would be very cool to see that in person, or hopefully they will see how popular it will be and do one in WDW

Very cool post! I loved all the photos! I cannot picture Disneyland in my head it has been so long and undoubtedly things have changed, but wow! I just love those photos! I have eaten, though, at that wharf, I do remember that for some reason, so yeah, I guess the clam chowder was tasty! The ImagiNOIRs that was too funny!!! Great Disney themeing. Cars Land. Yeah, if I told my kids that was coming it would be all over! They would want to camp out for two years!!!

Nice to see the rides and the various coasters there! I have to check height requirements.

Looking forward to more as always!!!! ;)

That california screamin coaster sounds so much fun!!!!! Love the update!

That would be cool! Although, if they wait that long it'd be 2014 before it's live in FL....

It felt so new to me, it was cool! Even though I'd been, it all looked pretty darn different though I'm sure it really wasn't. Of course that could have something to do with the fact that we spent a lot of time in it's tough to be a bug-land last time and didn't go there at all this time!

In fact...now that I think about it, seems to me that's where the Mondavi "winery" was.

I'm not sure how tall your guys are, it's 48" for California Screamin', same as
RRC. DS8 will probably be ok but I'm guessing pixie dust bottom boy may not.

Mary Ellen, you would LOVE it! It beat EE for Eric, which was his all time fav before the trip.

NO, not at all! I really like coasters, but for some reason, the something or rather Thunder(head?) at Dollywood scared the living carp out of me!! I'm thinking it was the LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG downhill ?? I don't know. :confused3 I am willing to try a big wooden one again, but it'd take some doing to get my courage up again.

I"m sure at the coast, maybe Lincoln City or Depoe Bay would have a good one.

I'm sort of caught up (there are a few gaps in my reading).

The cars world looks so cool. I'm sorry my kids are too old to enjoy it. I may have to "rent" some kids to take. I have some young nephews.

That corn dog looks huge but oh so good!

Ah, just the wooden ones....

Oh Lincoln City! As a child we went there every summer. We had big plans last year and it just never worked out. Next summer, must do, the kids have never been! (K has with a friend but that's it). I  Lincoln City. So many memories of the beach there! I can't recall what the amusement park was like, it's pretty fuzzy and not a clue what is there now.

Now if I could only think of the restaurant we used to go for dinner that, as a child, really seemed like paradise to me ( I recall bridges, moats, treasure) it would be great.

And Sambo's of course....but that's long gone. Not very PC.

Have you seen that the new pizzaria in Epcot will be open during your trip, but not taking ADRs yet: http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blo...or-via-napoli/

I am not sure you would want to take chances with a walk-up dinner, but this could be an alternative for Tutto? :confused3

I did see this yesterday! It sounds SOOOOO yummy! I actually noted it in my touring plan as a possible lunch walk up OOP on one of the Epcot Days, as a lunch option for the guys on the day we have our tea (perfect I think, though my gut is they will be at the pool and ordering from Hurricane Hannahs lol) or as an alternative to Kouzzina as a walk up if for some reason we can't make that 5:10 ADR and want to shoot for something closer to 6.

At the very least, I will scope it out and take pics! But I'm thinking we might have to find a way to have lunch there. :thumbsup2

Diamond! You are back, I can't wait to hear about your trip (and notice the new dancing ticker!). Your kids are old enough to enjoy a lot at California Adventure, in some ways it's a better park for older kids and then you could just stroll by carsland in between TOT and California Screamin'

Or something like that.

It does sound very good, I agree. And I like it that the price is to be 23 $ per person per meal on average (that's the way I read it), which would make it cheaper than Tutto.

I will be looking forward to what you have to report. But I guess, if you look out for it, you will be able to find the first reviews on the restaurant board before you leave for your trip! :goodvibes

I am really excited about the new WS eateries, also the new Mexico one! :thumbsup2

HA! Pixie Dust Bottom Boy -- I guess I have just found my new term of endearment for my son!

Griffin is 48" so he is covered... Looks like I will be sitting it out with the little guy! or we will change hands!

I am making plans for DL now.. your TR has been a big help!

OH and I didn't get to tell you that those corn dogs were MASSIVE oh my goodness! Was there even a stick involved??!!! :rotfl:

I saw the new Italian restaurant menu too but no prices other than around $23 !! I am sorta surprised .. why 2 Italian restaurants???????

Me too! Although $23 is pricey if all you are having is pizza....It'll be interesting to see what the pizza prices are. They sell by the slice but no take out (supposedly), if nothing else I will get pics!

I thought Griffin would be fine but figured Noyln (did I spell that right?) would miss the cut off. Oh my gosh those things were HUGE! There was a stick but so little of it poked out of the bottom that the boys just had to grab the whole thing with their hands. They did eat it all though but of course didn't drink their drink...a recurring theme.

There are worse things than being called pixie dust bottom boy!

We still give Eric a hard time at the airport, according to him, you have to go to the baggage CLAM.

:rotfl:

Well Via Napoli is a pizza place so a bit more casual and less expensive than Tutto as I understand it. I do think they missed the boat by not having a takeout counter for slices (and gelato!) which was part of the original plan but we will see. It sounds yummy!
