Ok wow! I'm 2 pages behind in my own PTR! love that, how very very fun!
I'm here! Gourmet Club night at my house. Meaning moi cooked all day, pretended to be a gourmand, had many belly laughs and much good wine. There is something amazingly special about hanging with girls (ok women!) you've known half your life. Somehow we never run out of things to talk about.
And I don't think I poisoned anyone. No leftovers, always a good sign.
I did not read your "blustery day" update until tonight.
Just. Beautiful.
That's all I have to say. Except this: everyone needs someone who is there for them even though they don't have to be. I have been blessed to have many people fill that roll since my mom passed. I hope that while teaching, I become that person for another child. Thank you. Sometimes I have to be reminded why I took that job.
Right time, right place. HE always puts us there. we just have to keep our eyes open.
Right time, right place. Right heart. He does put us there, we just have to be open to look, listen and feel. I am always awed by how many wonderful souls are on this board, and how many teachers. What a gift you have. A gift of giving. I am sure you have been that person already, you may not realize it but I bet you have.
Another awesome book--especially for women is Boundaries. It really opens your eyes to what is important. And being everything to everyone is not what's important.
No it's not. Hard to admit though!
Missed a lot of this conversation, but just catching up to say I enjoy reading your musings and shared moments. I hope your Halloween was enjoyable spending a fun evening with family. from the older photos it looks like a wonderful time for everyone
It was fantabulous! Thanks!

New games, new hysteria, new stories to tease siblings about...I hope yours was equally wonderful.
Alrighty, I am 37 pages behind.... I have seen you on many reports and always meant to see if you had a PTR. You do

I have only read the first post but it was really well written and thought provoking. You have a way with words. Off to catch up!
and thank you, I'm thrilled to have you here!
I hope she doesn't have to miss any vacation, but missing part is much better than missing all of it. Plus, this probably will really be the last summer she will be able to go away in August. Once she is a
serious contender for varisty, there's no way she can miss preseason.
My boys each missed a week of preseason in JV, but they can not miss anything for varsity. Nicholas is still on JV (9th grade) and unfortunately, will not make the tournament team because there are still some juniors on JV that they have to take first. They told Nicholas and two other freshman that they can go practice with the tournament team (this is essentially the varisty team) as they prepare for the tournament, but they won't be able to list them on the roster. Nicholas doesn't want to do it, but I am insisting that he does, because I think it will strengthen his chances of varisty next year. Plus I think that even practicing with the varisty will make him a better player. I just think he is pretty burnt out now from constant soccer. His club team still plays in the fall, just no regular practices. Nick has had 5 games in the last 7 days.
Mary Ellen, I SO respect your feedback on this, it is
really really helpful. I do agree with the practicing "up" making a better player. We have 3 teams, 9th, JV and Varsity, she will be going into 9th. I worry about burnout. July is all ODP and club, August is now HS and Club. We kind of figure it is our last summer with both kids. T as he will be a senior and K for soccer. So we need to milk it if we can. But we may need to think again about those dates. We just worry that there will be a tournament conflict if we go earlier (not to mention cost/discount issues). Hmmn.
