Life’s too short...to never sleep in a treehouse! 8/27 TR is up! Link in siggie

Most likely both. Mommy sent me a pound of pumpkin spiced flavored coffee in the Christmas box. I opened it early (don't tell Santa, I was being naughty!) and snagged it out. Sure makes for some great morning brew!

In fact, I was drinking some when that rather graphic picture of Mr. Beer Man popped up. My househelper was even more stunned than me.

wow, your mom is really on the ball if she already sent your christmas presents!

you should be thankfull Mr.Beer Man is the one I posted........

there was an even better one, but I don't want to get banned.

She's an OCD on the ball type of mom. Up until a few years ago, we had to wait 3 months for packages, but they are getting better all the time. But she's used to getting it out early, so she can be sure we get them on time. It think she just likes to silently compete with my MIL, who is notorious for sending them late.

I'm afraid my kids would describe me as an OCD off the wall type.:rotfl2:

:lmao: That's exactly how my kids describe me!! They think I'm such a dork. Don't they know they share 23 chromosomes with me??!!!:rotfl2:

some days I'm sure my dd believes that I am some sort of punishment, just for her.;) I think the fact that I breathe embarasses her.....so of course, I go out of my way to be even dorkier.

I just consider it part of my job description as mother. What they think of us is mostly self-imposed, but I can't think of any good reason not to perpetuate it!! :lmao:

Isn't it fun having a party while Cynthia is not even here?? :rolleyes1

Well, we could put Mr. Beer Man over here, but then again, well, maybe not. :rolleyes1 Maybe if we put port or something classier in there??

I guess some things just are easier to cross cultural bounderies...:confused3

Wish I knew... I'd try FB, but I know if she's on there, she'd be here too. :confused3 Maybe she tried the French Toast Monte Cristo and is having issues?

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Somehow this just doesn't scream Cynthia to me, but then again we had a long discussion about what others think about us last night/ yesterday. Cynthia, do you perceive yourself as one who likes Port flavored jelly crystals?? Can you just say no- it does't work for me?? :rotfl2:

Just read the whole thing and am in awe!!! You have such a unique and wonderful flow about your writing!! And it's such a wonderful thing seeing someone stop to smell the roses!! Loving it!!

I have a sign hanging in my kitchen that I bought about 4 years ago that says Enjoy this moment for THIS moment is your life!! It helps me keep my perspective!! At least on the days I remember to read it! :lmao:

Btw, your DISigns for your trip journal are FABulous!!!!! :worship:

Subbing for the rest of the ride! :thumbsup2

Ok wow! I'm 2 pages behind in my own PTR! love that, how very very fun!

I'm here! Gourmet Club night at my house. Meaning moi cooked all day, pretended to be a gourmand, had many belly laughs and much good wine. There is something amazingly special about hanging with girls (ok women!) you've known half your life. Somehow we never run out of things to talk about.

And I don't think I poisoned anyone. No leftovers, always a good sign.

I did not read your "blustery day" update until tonight.

Just. Beautiful.

That's all I have to say. Except this: everyone needs someone who is there for them even though they don't have to be. I have been blessed to have many people fill that roll since my mom passed. I hope that while teaching, I become that person for another child. Thank you. Sometimes I have to be reminded why I took that job.

Right time, right place. HE always puts us there. we just have to keep our eyes open.

Right time, right place. Right heart. He does put us there, we just have to be open to look, listen and feel. I am always awed by how many wonderful souls are on this board, and how many teachers. What a gift you have. A gift of giving. I am sure you have been that person already, you may not realize it but I bet you have.

Another awesome book--especially for women is Boundaries. It really opens your eyes to what is important. And being everything to everyone is not what's important.

No it's not. Hard to admit though!

Missed a lot of this conversation, but just catching up to say I enjoy reading your musings and shared moments. I hope your Halloween was enjoyable spending a fun evening with family. from the older photos it looks like a wonderful time for everyone :goodvibes

It was fantabulous! Thanks! :goodvibes New games, new hysteria, new stories to tease siblings about...I hope yours was equally wonderful.

Alrighty, I am 37 pages behind.... I have seen you on many reports and always meant to see if you had a PTR. You do :) I have only read the first post but it was really well written and thought provoking. You have a way with words. Off to catch up!

:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:
and thank you, I'm thrilled to have you here!

I hope she doesn't have to miss any vacation, but missing part is much better than missing all of it. Plus, this probably will really be the last summer she will be able to go away in August. Once she is a
serious contender for varisty, there's no way she can miss preseason.

My boys each missed a week of preseason in JV, but they can not miss anything for varsity. Nicholas is still on JV (9th grade) and unfortunately, will not make the tournament team because there are still some juniors on JV that they have to take first. They told Nicholas and two other freshman that they can go practice with the tournament team (this is essentially the varisty team) as they prepare for the tournament, but they won't be able to list them on the roster. Nicholas doesn't want to do it, but I am insisting that he does, because I think it will strengthen his chances of varisty next year. Plus I think that even practicing with the varisty will make him a better player. I just think he is pretty burnt out now from constant soccer. His club team still plays in the fall, just no regular practices. Nick has had 5 games in the last 7 days.

Mary Ellen, I SO respect your feedback on this, it is really really helpful. I do agree with the practicing "up" making a better player. We have 3 teams, 9th, JV and Varsity, she will be going into 9th. I worry about burnout. July is all ODP and club, August is now HS and Club. We kind of figure it is our last summer with both kids. T as he will be a senior and K for soccer. So we need to milk it if we can. But we may need to think again about those dates. We just worry that there will be a tournament conflict if we go earlier (not to mention cost/discount issues). Hmmn.

Fellow coffee fiend and gourmand.

Darn tootin and proud of it!

I'm drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte right now......mmmm.....

Ok my fellow "black drinker"! I admit, I fall off the wagon for the fall drinks as well!
mmnn! though I do like a non-fat egg nog latte... BUT

GINGERBREAD

is the bomb.

I'm eating a carmel apple.....my keyboard is getting sticky.

You've been hanging out with Jeff I see.

That reminds me. I left one at work...snack tomorrow!!:thumbsup2

:rotfl:

carmel apple or sticky keyboard?:rotfl2:

both methinks

You SNEAK! I can't believe it. I would so not have pegged you for a raid the Christmas box early kind of gal....

:rotfl2:

As in which mom loves you best and can sent stuff to blank a stan faster?

I'm afraid my kids would describe me as an OCD off the wall type.:rotfl2:

mine too

:lmao: That's exactly how my kids describe me!! They think I'm such a dork. Don't they know they share 23 chromosomes with me??!!!:rotfl2:

Check out the nerd test on Mary Ellen's TR. Apparently I'm the nerdiest (aka dorkiest) so far. Though that could have changed, the boards have been BUSY while I've been a-entertaining!

some days I'm sure my dd believes that I am some sort of punishment, just for her.;) I think the fact that I breathe embarasses her.....so of course, I go out of my way to be even dorkier.
As you should. Your god given right as the mother of anything female. See this is where bonus mom is the ultimate gig. I don't embarrass as I'm not actually the mom!

And I'm incredibly cool of course

:rotfl2:

Not.

I just consider it part of my job description as mother. What they think of us is mostly self-imposed, but I can't think of any good reason not to perpetuate it!! :lmao:

Isn't it fun having a party while Cynthia is not even here?? :rolleyes1

I am LOVING this party!

as long as we leave the place clean...I'm sure she won't mind.

Clean, please. Though I dunno. Mr. Beer Man doesn't sound so clean...

Well, we could put Mr. Beer Man over here, but then again, well, maybe not. :rolleyes1 Maybe if we put port or something classier in there??

Hey I LIKE port. And if memory serves am the only one who drinks it or even knows the difference between a ruby and a tawny...Miss GF Tea!

LOL!

I would've like to have seen your househelper's look...

me too

I guess some things just are easier to cross cultural bounderies...:confused3

you are on a roll tonight...

Where is Cynthia?:confused3

Wish I knew... I'd try FB, but I know if she's on there, she'd be here too. :confused3 Maybe she tried the French Toast Monte Cristo and is having issues?

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

You guys are killing me.

I wish. I had canned chili. Dinner made up for it though.

No.

YAY! And

:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:

Thank you for your kind words, I am thrilled to have you here.

Guess what MY kitchen sign says

Be nice. Or leave.

:goodvibes

I'll have to post a picture. It rocks.

It's even better with the little bagpipe magnet my folks just brought me back from Scotland that has our tartan on it. It even plays a song.

Welcome to your own officially hijacked thread.

So, no leftovers?? That's great! In my house that could mean, we'd better eat it now, or we'll get it 3 days from now tasting a little off.

:lmao:

Yes, the ladies, the fun, the chatter- nothing better!
