Life’s too short...to never sleep in a treehouse! 8/27 TR is up! Link in siggie

Ok, I don't want to jinx anything but...

I have an interview next week. As some of you may recall a recruiter contacted me a while ago about a job. A really really good job. With a really really cool company. Seriously cool. I expressed interest and then the guy dropped off the face of the planet. Whatever.

I was contacted yesterday by a totally different recruiter/recruiting company. Spoke to her today. Liked her a lot. Same company, slightly different (better...at least for me) job. I have not yet given them my resume (need to redo it over the weekend) but the HR director and the person this job would report to both want to meet me next week. During this whole process of looking, all my interviews have been phone. Quite a few. Do you know how long it's been since I had a LIVE one? And how freaked out I am that the first one will be LIVE?

My current company doesn't count as I've known them forever...we became friends while I was at the big green dot and they did work for me.

Holy cats.

While I have been looking, I haven't been looking all that hard as it's been pretty darn depressing and I have been bringing some stuff in for the current job...enough to keep us alive at any rate. On the verge of a major deal (which I'd REALLY want/need to close before going somewhere else).

This would be a whole new ball of wax to be sure! Not to mention cutting into my DIS time.

:rotfl2:

I really need a major revamp of the resume (as clearly it wasn't working so well and it's on it's second or third iteration already). So I need some writing and format vibes and mojo as they will need it by Monday.

AACK!

In a good way mind you but...

AAACK!

I have never tried the Picnic in the Park, but it seems rather alont the lines of the heat of Flame Tree. . .which is another one I would never do in the heat again.

I agree, tier 2 sounds like too much HOT food for an August trip but the tier one sandwiches sounded good...

:thumbsup2:goodvibes:thumbsup2:goodvibes

pixiedust:pixiedust: A little magic never hurts! Good thoughts & vibes...

Thanks! It sure doesn't.

Good luck to you in your interview! You'll do fine.

I've heard nothing but good things about that picnic in the park.

Picnic in the Park sounds like a great CS option. I wonder if they're going to offer that in the other parks.

Thanks, man I hope so. I just heard from the recruiter, they want to schedule a 2nd interview (which I find odd as I haven't had the first one yet) with another person so I'm meeting with 2 people on Tuesday and another one on Weds.

And they don't have my resume yet :confused3

Holy Carp.

I've been out of the corporate world for almost 2 years now....it would be weird to go back to that...but wierd in a good way I think.

I don't know but they should! In DL they have kind of a picnic offering on TSI...I wish they had that at the MK, it's one of my best childhood memories, eating Aunt Polly's fried chicken on Tom Sawyer Island.

Casey's Corner - no input from me but I think Liesa could eat there every day! I did hear they changed both the dogs and the buns though....

Well, not every day, but a few times at least! :lmao:

HA!

Okay, I've missed a crapload of chatter here, and have not a clue of what's been said after this, but have to say that this picnic thing is way intrigruing! A lot of food you say?? This is hmmmm... interesting. There are going to be a couple of times that a little leftover food may be a necessitiy for a conveniently extended trip. :)

Okay, going now to read the rest of what I've missed....

Okay SOOOOOOOOOOOO sorry I have been MIA, it has been a busy week for me at work.... I run an application Magnet program in a local school for GT+ kids, and I have to recruit, etc. then prepare for a mega open house meeting (this Mon night) where I average about 1,000 people (parents/kids)... NO pressure  Anyhoo, oodles of planning that yes, takes away from My Dis time too!!! Then the boards were down last night, so what was a girl to do!!??

So I finally caught up now on these TRs and PTRs... amazing. Your Trip Binder stuff!!! Really really cool! I am working on mine, too, and so I know it is both fun but time consuming! I think your family getting a say about ADRs is a good choice! SO far only DH does in our house -- my guys too young to really care -- tho I pick places I think they will like or that have menus which include options OTHER than chicken nuggets :sad2: -- so here is my take on some of your options:

I say Cali Grille or Jiko would be a tough call... I don't know much about the atmosphere of Jiko, but it seems the food is more adult -- so maybe less children. That being said, DH and I had our "date night" dinner at CG, and were totally FINE there were some kids around, but it is Disney World, so you gotta expect that. NOW I have heard fab things about Bistro de Paris? IS that what it is called? In Epcot? I think DH and I will go there solo in June.... it is not on the DP, but I think it worth exploring... THAT or the Blue Zoo, also I have heard very good... we MAY try this for Xmas dinner this Dec, but I am leaning towards Flying Fish -- so I can give you a report! ;)

Re Sanaa and The Wave -- WELLLLLLLLLLL you know how I feel about those :)

I think Mama Melrose was good when we went, some seem to think it is hit or miss... re Crystal Palace, I would never eat dinner or lunch there, but BRUNCH, it is worth it.

With Counter Service, I tell you go to WPE, you won't be disappointed if you can fit it in... I too thought the picnic in the park sounded neat! And we might try that next time in AK... next June.

LOVE the cutsie bags!! I wish I had a girl to share those with! :)

It is funny -- we have not told our boys about Christmas yet... not sure how or when we will (I do have all these cool ideas for a countdown calendar so I hope to tell them "in advance"!) but I bought the 4parks1world CD and it is in my car... so what is really funny is that they love listening to it, and DS5 was whining that he wanted to go back to WDW a couple days ago... so of course I was :rolleyes1

Good luck on the job front!

Oh, I was also going to say your last page, did you decide? I like the ADR list in one spot, and I like the hidden mickey idea.... I am going to buy that book before next summer's trip!

Great posts as always!!

Now see there we differ...unless Casey's sells Polish's or Italians. I'm not much of a regular "dog" person, and neither is the rest of the gang. A good polish or italian (no brats though, bleh!) and I could be convinced.

and

:rotfl2: you crack me up. Now the question is just how LONG will said leftover food really last?

GT+ what is that? I could make a guess but am not familiar with that acronym. You are a busy lady! And then the boards being down was a bummer, I just went to bed on time, well actually before Jeff for once! :rotfl:

Personally I would love to go to Bistro De Paris. Jeff has a totally weird thing about France so he would not be into that. Yet I know he'd enjoy it, it's a blind spot right now. I don't think I'm going to get him over it until 2011 when we hopefully are there!

I love having a girl to share this stuff with. I got her "late in life" (ok, late in her life? She was 7 lol) and was SUCH a tomboy back then I wasn't sure I'd get this part with her. SO cute last night at dinner, we were talking about my sisters wedding...and dress shopping....and shoes....she is so excited. It will be her first big "do" unless you count her being a flower girl in Sandie's wedding when she was 4. I can't wait, it's going to be really really fun, and a totally different experience for me, to do this with her!

WPE. Now for some reason I have a hangup there and I know how you (and your DH!) love it as do many others. I can't get past all the airport WPE's which do nothing for me. That said, it, or Earl of Sandwhich are my choices if we end up at DTD for lunch one day. Which could happen!

Next summers trip? Do you have your dates yet? I think you should go in mid August for FD

:rolleyes1

Thanks on the job front. I want it, I don't, I want it, I don't. Aack! We will see. I'd been hoping to go back to the type of work I was doing several years ago and it just seems like there is a glut of people going for those jobs and I'm not seeing any traction. The company is exceedingly cool as is their product....I am frankly a bit intimidated which is unusual for me. It is the same type of work I am doing now but at such a different level....I need to get over that before Tuesday. We will see.

With Counter Service, I tell you go to WPE, you won't be disappointed if you can fit it in...

WPE

Wolfgang Puck Express, in Downtown Disney.

Good Luck :wizard: on the interviews - your personality, prepardness and organizational skills come out online - so I cant imagine a company NOT snatching you up!! :wizard:

Here near Chicago - they just are not hiring FT - dh got his "contract" extended - but that means, no health care, no vacation days, and NO sick days!! or no retirement stuff too!! just sad... and because he's a contractor his job is constantly threatened!! He thought for sure he was going to be axed yesterday the way his boss was screaming - he's never dealt with a screaming boss!!

Caseys- ITA - unless the hot dog has the "snap" and the soft bun!! :goodvibes I too will pass!! But I do love the ideal of Casey's!

Picnic in a Park - my thinking is - I want to eat in a/c - its so hot in AK - plus the other is they give you a teeny tiny 8oz bottle of water!! :confused3 Seriously!

I've been working too - so less Dis time for me - I really have to get going - 74 days!! :scared1:

these science daily articles are pretty good. Then I just attached some info from Cedars- Sinai. If you goggle minimally invasive thoracotomy, videoassisted thoracoscopy, or robotically assisted lung surgery you will find what you need.

If your FIL does have an infection, the sooner he gets the surgery the better. Untreated infection in the lung and pleural space causes progressive damage to the lung tissue. It causes extensive scarring and adhesions. A infection in the lung is often referred to as an empyema. This can occur independently of a tumor. I know your FIL thinks this is what he has. I hope he realizes that each individual's experience with lung surgery is going to be different.

The cough and wt loss can be symptoms of both cancer or infection. Unfortunately, he is not going to get better until he has the surgery. If its infection, it just won't get better without getting the infection out!!!!!!!!! We took care of a fairly young man (40's) who we thought for sure had lung CA. In actuality he had a terrible, terrible empyema/pneumonia that had really destroyed his lung. He got better, but it took awhile. the bottom line - he would have died without the surgery. This infection would NEVER have cleared up on its own. He is healthy and doing really well now. And he quit smoking!

A note from Mary (my SMIL)....

Thank you for all this helpful information. We are printing it out and Ron is going to talk to Dr. Schwartz about it. Looks like there are alternative surgeries that are less risky and invasive which is really great. Also, boosting his immune system and building up his nutrition is something we have been working on, but Ron doesn't take any vitamins and drinking ensure is a super idea. Didn't think of that one. All of this information helps immensely and we appreciate all your help and concern it is great we are working as a team. Please thank your friend for her help also. She had great ideas...

Thank you SO much! The fact that they are printing stuff out and scheduling time to talk to the Dr. about it is huge, it is a big step forward. You are making a huge difference and I cannot thank you enough.

I'm so sorry to hear about your DH but grateful his contract was extended. We are seeing a lot of contract stuff here too (none of which I've even been able to get an interview for!) and a lot of UNPAID training. Contract is a PITA, essentially that is what I am doing now since it is 100% commission but at least sick, vacation or whatever isn't an issue as I can work as little or as much as I want. That part, and the flexibility that it gives me with the kids schedule will be hard to give up. The stability and financial aspects will wipe that concern out but it will mean back to the grind of juggling child care and schedules and mooching carpools.

Thankfully I don't need the benefits so that isn't an issue

The good news is I do know the package for this job is quite good so that is exciting. And nerve wracking.

Valid point on AK with the heat.... although only Pizzasafari has AC for a CS lunch option, right?

I'm really glad that this information was helpful! I am glad they are going back to see the surgeon and talk with him again. I really hope that this second meeting with the surgeon will reassure your FIL that surgery is safe and the best plan of action. I am really on pins and needles waiting to see how everything turns out.

P.S. Good Luck on the Job Interview next week (this week)! I'm sure you will do fantastic! pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: Keep us posted!

Thanks!

Spent most of yesterday working on the darn resume. MAN I despise that. Truly no fun and stressful. Need to wrap it up today.

So sad, I was reminded of how spoiled I've been the past 2 years in my current situation. Not financially but in flexibility. I started to figure out what I'd need for vacation days just to get an idea as they were tossing out some of the package info already.

For next year alone, I need 5 weeks off. And that doesn't include taking the week between Christmas and New Years!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Somehow I think my plans will be a'changing! I imagine I'll be lucky to get 3.

I also had to look into aftercare costs, something I haven't dealt with in a while either. GULP!

Having dealt with the dreaded resume I decided an update sounded like a lot more fun than planting bulbs....

Breaking news!

I may HAVE to put these on that last page. I take no credit for their creation, they are by ~*~Michelle~*~ and I have shamelessly stolen them from her.

Just think. I could laminate and bring a dry erase marker!

Now.

Are we getting grander?

Maybe!

But first, a bag update!

LOL they just keep coming and coming and coming!

Again, this is not for me. It is for…

Taylor!

I purchased a Hard Rock All Access card. It is $25 and for that you get $20 loaded onto the card that can be used at any of the café’s and hotels . You earn another $20 for every $200 you spend in the café (not sure if hotel and hotel restaurant purchases count too but I think they do). It also gets you preferred dining seating at any of their restaurants and complimentary room upgrades if available (the main reason I got it! I want a pool view!). It also came with…

This!

And this.

They look like stocking stuffers to me! I thought about giving them to him for his bday but 1) we bought his seasons ski pass that that is MORE than enough in my book and 2) it might give the E’s idea’s. They probably wouldn’t clue in but you never know!

A few birthday shots...

THIS one…is for ME!

Yep. Tink comes in more than one size. And I love love love the fabric and everything about the big one so am excited about this! Now I’ll have a matching set. Scary isn’t it. I am slightly annoyed with myself as there were 2 on ebay and I made an offer on one, instead of waiting to see what the other one ended up going for. It’s still on there so we will see if I could have saved a little money. Tops is $12 less than what I paid including shipping but twelve bucks is twelve bucks! I didn’t find the 2nd one at first. Oh well.

I didn’t pay full price so I guess that’s something and she’s a lot less than Mickey. I’ll be able to have both tink bags plus the purple wallet for about what Mickey cost so I think I’m doing ok. Now, Tink hasn’t arrived yet but based on the measurements she should be just about perfect.

Loop NYC Disney Couture Tinkerbell Barrel Bag Bag depicts Tinkerbell with a floral background, bold metallic thread highlighting Tinkerbell, flowers. Exterior zip pocket with gold pleather star design zip pull. Two end open pockets (one each end), Top zip closure with gold stars for zip pulls. Gold Metallic pleather adjustable strap measures approx: 29 inches fully extended. Adjusts down to 22 inches in length. Strap is 1 1/2 inches wide. Interior of the purse has one side zip pocket and a cell phone pocket. Purse measures approx: 9 x 6 x 4

And…

She as exterior pockets! THREE of them! One zip up and one on each end. After she arrives I’ll test her out and then order the wallet. That I’m not worried about being gone. TWO on the inside! Perfect perfect and more perfect!

I also bought a Pooh TShirt, I couldn’t help myself…I have a Pooh T Shirt story but that’s for another time. Suffice to say just ordering it gave me warm fuzzies….

Ok, this bag post ended up going on and on so I’ll have to hold off till next time on whether our grand gathering is possibly getting grander…or not!

Next...my brain hurts (and no, it's not from Drinking Around the World)

I MAY have to borrow those Epcot beverage cards - I'll be celebrating my 21st birthday about a month before our trip and while I don't want to appear as a party-crazed college student (especially to my roommate/trip buddy who will still be underage) I do have a goal to taste at least one alcoholic beverage in each country! I mean, who knows when I'll be back!!

Thats the cutest Tink fabric...

I'm getting tipsy just looking at those drink cards!

Good luck :shamrock: with the job interview!

Kathy

Okay, you know me by now... I'm just so not a bag person. I love them, but would never splurge on them. I never carry one, i'm the "stuff a debit card i my backpocket" kind of girl, so I can't comment too much about the bags. However, I can say I like the size of the little matching Tink green thing. Pockets are always a good thing!!

But, you know what? I can get very excited about those drink cards. I've already told you I'm not a huge drinker, but give me a vacation, and that many choices, well you never know what will happen! :confused3 I like to have all the options at my finger tips!! Nice! Very nice!! Printing now! With the extra days- well, what can I say?!
