your adrs look great!

I haven't been to any of the places in the running for date night, which by the way is a great idea!

If Jeff doesn't want to go, take your MIL;)

Are you planning on hitting up any of those places during your upcoming trip?

Are you planning on hitting up any of those places during your upcoming trip?

no, none of them made the list.

I really want to try Jiko sometime, but I'm a little unsure about d.jay liking it.

I like the Privos! In fact the pair I bought for the summer trip were great! I wore them much more in October and December... They are a different style from the pair you showed... I have a pair of Keen flops too! but mine are black...re the sandals, the first pair are very nice! Athleta has a big sale.... I just got some stuff for the cruise...

Re dinner, I think Cali Grill is the best of the bunch. The food is really good! Re Flying Fish. It was nice, good, but I think I liked Cali better...

Don't know the others myself. We had thought about Narcoosees too!, but my DH didn't want to eat at GF... I saw inside the Yachtsman a few times, looks nice. Jiko looks good too, but Cali Grill wins for me. That being said, we are flip flopping between Paris Bistro and Blue Zoo for June...

So I think I would go with Cali Grill... :rotfl:

Great shirt design, esp for a pilot...

CA Grill is awesome, but Jiko and Flying Fish are 2 of my favorites.

CA Grill definitely feels like a destination restaurant. The food is really, really good.

Jiko and Flying Fish don't have the benefit of the view so they rely more heavily on menu.

So, it's more a matter of a great view or the special occasion feeling or having a GREAT meal....

And therein lies the entire quandary! I love the concept of Cali Grill. The menu doesn't wow me though I'd love the excuse to get some sushi for myself. The menu's at Jiko and Narcoosee's have a bigger YUM factor (to me).

I need to catch up here after the Jets game, especially since I saw shoe pics!

:rotfl::rotfl:

My neighbor stopped me on my way out earlier to yell at me that I was missing the end of the game (I was on my way to the gym) and I"m like "dude, you're in your driveway so...."

:rotfl:

shoes are one of my happy places.

ADR's look yummy! Hope Jeff gets on board for the date night!!

It's funny, he was, and now he is waffling and I don't really think it's the date night part, it's the 7 months out part! He loved the idea of Cirque for that night...he just doesn't want to look at the menu's.

We've never been to Cali Grill. However, while the last time we were at Jiko was very good, it wasn't as good as when we were there in 2005. Flying Fish was awesome. You can have a nice stroll at the boardwalk after dinner also. We tried Yachtsman in 2005 as well. It was okay but I personally prefer Artist Point buffalo steak over Yachtsman steak. The mushroom soup at Artist Point is the best soup I ever had. :thumbsup2

I've been to Margaritaville at Orlando for lunch before. I love their BBQ burger. Their frozen mango Margarita is my absolute favorite. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Topdog!

I am positive we would love AP. However, it would be like going out here to our favorite place, the place we were married at. It would be LOVELY but to me it's just not "away" enough. I would prefer to do AP on a wintery trip...

Good feedback on Jiko, I am loving their menu but...hmmn.

My only concerns with Jiko and FF is we will be doing AK/AKL 2x for dinner already and the Boardwalk once. If we eat at FF and the kids are all at Big River...it could take away from the "date" aspect.

We  Margaritaville. It is kind of funny, Jeff and I did a date trip to Key West a couple of years ago. It was SUCH a Jimmy Buffet kind of trip. We stayed in a B&B and rode their loaner beach cruisers, in our flip flops, no helmets, all over town (complete with baskets and everything). We invariably ended up at Sloppy Joe's or Margaritaville! We were both skeptical, despite being parrot heads, as we are NOT chain restaurant fans.

But the food was good.

The music as good.

The margaritas? Actually lived up to the name.

Which for Jeff....is saying a LOT! We have many a margarita debate while we are out to the point where we custom ordered this past Friday night.

Love, love, love Keens. How are the Privos for support? I know they're a good brand, but I've never tried them before.

I, too, hate shorts shopping. I was having a big discussion with my mother today about this very thing. I'm more comfortable in bermuda shorts, but I don't think I'll be brave enough to wear shorts, given that I'll be anywhere from seven - nine months pregnant during the summer! I actually just ordered a really cute maternity dress online, and I'm thinking of going more that route.

Have you thought of some summery dresses? Just a thought.

I love the tee shirt design, that came out awesome!

Looks like you've got the trip planning well in hand. Writing a PTR does always seem to make the time go faster.

The privo's are fabulous for support, well, the one pair I've tried, and are light as a feather! I adore these shoes. But they don't breathe. Perfect for WDW in Dec-March but after that...not so sure and not so sure about Cali. They are a killer Seattle shoe though :thumbsup2 I've gotten a ton of wear out of them and I did buy them specifically for last Feb's trip and they really weren't broken in. Nary a blister!

Bermuda's (TMI for the guys so skip this) always make me feel like my thighs are huge! And I know they aren't. They hit my waist weird too. Conceptually I love them. Once I am wearing them...I feel frumpy!

I confess to having some short shorts that I love. I cannot wear them to the parks as they are a linen blend, which makes them a little droopy...and not quite as short, almost the perfect length without being tight at all as the are cuffed (and less short). It also makes them stretch. If I put stuff in my pockets, as I am wont to do....they have a tendency to start to fall down.

Not attractive.

Jeff hates those shorts.

I am definitely thinking of summery dresses. The one's I have are not ride friendly so I'm leaning towards skorts for the day (the title nine ones just look like cute skirts but aren't too high waisted which drives me NUTS) and sundresses for dinner.

I lived in dresses when I was pregnant, that and sleeveless tops with Capri's.

I've never been to any of them ..but I have this plan to do 1 2TS each trip and the first I want to do is Narcosses for the Lobster !!!!!!!!!

Ok Rosie, since I KNOW Jordan will take forever to get to his Jiko meal :rotfl: let me know how you liked Narcoosees!

My ADR date is less than two days away at this point -- I really need to focus on it tomorrow! I have such a hard time wrapping my mind around the idea that Disneyland doesn't do ADRs very far in advance! How do people stand it??? How are you standing it???

All of the shoes look great! :thumbsup2

I haven't even thought about clothes, shoes, etc. -- I appear to be lacking direction of some sort. Maybe I need that great shirt design! ;)

I am NOT standing it! It makes me crazy that they don't have park hours for April! I can't actually make ressies anywhere...not even the Queen Mary brunch, the planner in me is freaking a little especially knowing it is DCA food and wine. Which BTW they haven't even posted a schedule of events for! It's in 3 months people!

It is sooooo West Coast! It was really hard when I moved back...the utter LACK of a sense of urgency. Apparently that extends to DL/DCA!

2 days? YIKES!

That reminds me, I need to look at the tea again...

Shirt design....hmmn...I think something could be created for Operation 13 Candles!

:goodvibes
LOVE the shoes. Are the Privos lightweight? Keens are so comfy. I usually do Nike flip flops in the park and buy different colors to match outfits.

Your ADR choices are great. And the date night sounds like a fantastic plan. I haven't tried any of the choices, so I can't be of help. What kind of food does Sandie like? Will she go with the choices? Wondering if free dining will be offered. I read on another thread that someone got a PIN for free QS plan for the end of August.

Have you made any room requests for YC?

The shirt your made Jeff is fantastic. It summarizes my resort/ADR decision issues :lmao:

The Privo's are incredibly light, they are called "float" for a reason! I have a pair of Teva Mushes that will definitely be coming along for both rides.

Sandie is not invited on the date night. She's the babysitter :rotfl:

She's very much a foodie, as is her husband and my BIL so I know they will be fine with the list, I'd just love to know if there is something they like "better" that didn't make the cut. It is a great mix of cuisines though so my inclination at this point it to leave it alone.

I REALLY hope FD will be offered. The BB dates start on 8/15 which is our check in date (scheduled accordingly). It will save us quite a bit. We do have a Disney Visa so if it is offered, we shoudl get it. Given that the major % off discount is now available to everyone though June I am guessing it is very very likely. If not I'll have to tweak things a little and move US to the end of the trip, which I really don't want to do, to get that rate down. It would save about $300 so it's worth it. I'd really prefer to to US first and end at WDW.

We have only booked standard rooms, all we can afford! but we have requested a certain view with connecting rooms and a daybed in both (I'd have to go look to see what it is) and it is in as an official grand gathering with the ressies all linked. Hopefully that increases our chances of an upgrade. The FAQ thread indicates it "might". We could be looking at a parking lot though! I have looked HARD at CL. Even with the 40% off it'd still be another $525 for the week and breakfast just doesn't cost that much so I can't justify it at all.

:rotfl:

Sandie and I are a little dangerous on our own but you know...that's not a bad idea!

Are you planning on hitting up any of those places during your upcoming trip?

no, none of them made the list.

I really want to try Jiko sometime, but I'm a little unsure about d.jay liking it.

Cherie the menu looks much less adventurous than say, Boma, it looks really yummy! Since you aren't on the DDP I'd to that instead!

I like the Privos! In fact the pair I bought for the summer trip were great! I wore them much more in October and December... They are a different style from the pair you showed... I will check out Athleta, I like their stuff. Good to know about the sale!

I'd love to try Paris Bistro....Jeff has french "issues" so I'm not even going there.

Given how poorly the Les Chef's menu did on my "test" it's just as well.

Sigh.

Right now I'm leaning toward 2 "date" ressies. One for Cali Grill and one for ???

/
French issues?! That just somehow really struck me funny! :lmao:

Cynthia,

I'd go for Jiko if you have a car. Flying Fish if you don't

If you're paying OOP, I like Portobello at DTD. We used to go there all the time, but for some reason, we haven't made it over there for a long time. I think it was after Wendy starting popping the babies out.

I know someone who went to Citricos and had a good meal.....that might be too "french"

I hadn't even thought about it being a West Coast thing, but I think you are right! :lmao:

Shirt design....hmmn...I think something could be created for Operation 13 Candles!

:goodvibes

That would be so great! Maybe I could work it into the "reveal." :goodvibes

I had no idea that DL doesn't post stuff as early as WDW!! How strange! We are deciding on some Thanksgiving plans, actually... looking at San Diego... and yes, a DAY at DL... so that means I will have to ask you for some tips!!! It seems like a go... I just have to convince my DH that I want to spend a night there... but we are going to stay in San Diego, so I am not sure I will be able to spin that.... oh well, DL would be great fun, I think, so I can get my Disney Christmas fix!!!! And it isn't far to drive between so we'll be sure to make it a very very Looooooong Day trip!! I will be very attentive to how you do it this spring!!! :thumbsup2

I have heard good things about Jiko, but my DH said he thought the Sanaa menu was better... Not sure why... Flying Fish was good. We were there for Christmas Dinner.

Darn...I missed shoe talk...I don't know how that happened...:lmao:

I think your ADRs look great...

As for date night...I believe in it...:lmao:

Jiko-really great interesting food...different than anything on site...

Cali Grill-definitely a destination

Yachtsman-haven't been-primarily a steakhouse...have heard good things...

Narcoosees-I thought it was good, pretty views...

Flying Fish-I think this is a blast, nice menu, drinks, fun funky decor-I do think they take their food very seriously...

so if it were me...I'd probably go with Jiko or Flying Fish for a date night...but that's just me...and you could probably get someone to make an argument for all of those places...

(I would take the kids to Cali so that's why I didn't put it on...but it's fab too...:confused3)

Skorts are a great idea. I know the thing I always worry about when I wear a dress or skirt to the parks (especially when my son was smaller) is possible...exposure, shall we say. :lmao: So a skort is really a clean look and a nice compromise.:thumbsup2

While we're on the subject of "the big reveal..." :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

You have me thinking shoes... I guess I should get my butt in gear if I want to get anything new. It's hard to break in new sandals this time of year... :rolleyes1 I think I'll drag the buckets of the boys' summer clothes up from the basement today to assess the situation.

We ate at Yachtsman in 2007. It was just OK. I remember it being soooo cold in there that I ordered chicken noodle soup as an app to warm up. DH ordered the Porterhouse & really didn't like it very much. He said he would never go back there. My food was pretty good. I'm guessing that we just had a bad experience... :confused3

Jiko is amazing.

I love the menu and have heard nothing but good things about it! It would make 3 AK/AKL meals though....

French issues?! That just somehow really struck me funny! :lmao:

Not so much with French food, more with France itself. Whatever. He's going there one of these days with me, like it or not!

:rotfl:

He does have French Food issues too though....he gets very weird about stuff being too "rich" aka unhealthy and has a pretty skewed perception of french food without really having had much. I pick my battles!

Cynthia,

I'd go for Jiko if you have a car. Flying Fish if you don't

Citrico's is more Mediterranean I think? I think he'd be fine with it, I jsut liked the menu better at Narcoosees for me so whittled it down to one GF option. Plus N has the view....

We will not have a car, FF we could walk to or take the boat which has appeal, same thing with Yachtsman. Only real issue I have with FF is if the kids are at Big River, we could run into them!

That would be so great! Maybe I could work it into the "reveal." :goodvibes

I'd love to! :goodvibes

We are already eating at Sanna :thumbsup2 I think Jeff would like Flying Fish quite a bit.

Peeking at the Athleta Sale :goodvibes

I'm too cheap to take the kids to Cali! They'd all love it I am sure but even OOP it'd kill us for a group as big as ours and then it's the whole negotiation of what the E's can order off the "big" menu without wasting food (I don't blame them, the kids menu's are pretty lame).

Skorts are a great idea. I know the thing I always worry about when I wear a dress or skirt to the parks (especially when my son was smaller) is possible...exposure, shall we say. :lmao: So a skort is really a clean look and a nice compromise.:thumbsup2

It just seems it would avoid the climbing in and out of ride paranoia but it looks like skirt so seems a winner of an idea! We will see.

While we're on the subject of "the big reveal..." :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

exactly!

:rotfl:

It is hard to break them in this time of year. If I do get anything new, it won't be worn until Cali so we will see! Good feedback on the Yachtsman....Being cold during a meal is awful, it completely distracts from the experience.

I will definitely be working with what the boys have for Calli but it will be a good chance to asses. I'll wait though as they could grow quite a bit between now and August! Eric will need at least one more swim shirt for August and Evan will need shorts. Shoes remains to be seen!

I have been thinking about what I need for the April trip. It has a occurred to me that it’s test drive for August, not only in the sleeping all in one room category but a good time to test shoes, outfits and whatnot. So of course, what’s a girl to do but indulge in retail therapy!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Sounds good to me!!

I'm dying here thinking I won't get back to WDW until February of 2012... I'm actually contemplating a possible trip in August of 2011 but I'm apprehensive about the killer humidity and the increased crowds due to Free Dining...

I'm quite anxious to see how you do in August! ::yes::

Kathy

I'd love to try Paris Bistro....Jeff has french "issues" so I'm not even going there.

Ed has the same issues... I know what you mean... this last trip was the first time I ever got to explore the France pavilion in Epcot because it was just me and the girls...

Kathy
