Life’s too short...to never sleep in a treehouse! 8/27 TR is up! Link in siggie

We have eaten at the Jazz Kitchen 2 times. Both times, they sat us outside. I really enjoyed sitting out there & taking in all of the DTD atmosphere but the room you were in looks like a lot of fun! If I remember correctly, the bathroom is really cool too.

We felt the same way about the food. It is pricey & it didn't live up to the expectations we had. It's nice for the atmosphere, but next time (if there is a next time) I might just order that cheese bread & a salad.

Oooohh, I like your 2 week update idea. How fun to have a very detailed countdown. Can't wait to read it!

Great to hear that you had a nice, relaxing, and "really vacationing" dinner. It's okay to be short on pictures and descriptions when that's the case!

Sorry to hear that the food was just okay. Especially for the most expensive meal. But that's the way it goes sometimes.

Liberelvis -- that says it all! He kind of looks like Little Richard from the back.

Ah, that's too bad that the food was just okay -- the descriptions sound yummy. Grits are sooo yummy!!! :cloud9: How nice to have such a relaxing fun evening!!! I can't believe you are so close to your trip!!! The next two weeks are sure to fly by for you!

Liberelvis????? :rotfl2: How about Elverachi? although I agree he leaned more towards the Liberaci (did I spell that right?....uhhhh...probably not) persuasion.

Lovely evening. Too bad the food was just "eh". I love the interior of the building. It looks like Brookes pictures from the recent wedding she attended in New Orleans.

Sorry your short Trip is about to end, but your MEGA trip is so close to beginning. Two weeks! That deserves a party:

Excellent last night!! Relaxing, splurging, interesting.... can't ask for more than that- except GOOD FOOD!! :headache: I'm sorry it wasn't really all it should've been! But I did love the ambiance of the place- hip, fun, and inviting!

So, did the apple pie get raided??

too bad about the pricey meal and not the best food....sometimes i find the more expensive the restraunt the more they use ingredients and things i normally dont and the more i sometimes dont like it...i found that when we ate at the italy restraunt in epcot, i did not care for the food it was real italian and not my american olive garden version:laughing:

That restaurant looked very interesting !! The Grits sound delish !!!I am the only one who eats grits soo would be the only one trying them !!!!

Looking forward to your 2 week countdown !!
I am forging ahead on my ptr as an escort!!!!!

Grits are delish! Hmmn, can you get grits at Disney? I don't think so....

Those guys so lucky to have you as an escort!

It wasn't nice enough for the outside area but it was really pretty! Really, cheese bread, salad and those grits and I was happy. I had by far the best meal of the bunch.

Still, we had a really wonderful night, sometimes it is about more than the food.

He did look like little Richard, and acted like him... a bit. My meal was good, Jeff's ok and the kids, blech.

But it was still a wonderful night!

Oh those grits! I might have to make them one of these days, it's just not something I make but I bet everyone would like it. I do love them.

It was relaxing, really a perfect night and my meal was great. I think I just ordered better than everyone else :rotfl: what Jeff selected is NOT something I'd have thought he'd pick. And the kids? Well NOLA isn't exactly known for spaghetti and meatballs....

:rotfl:

Elverachi! I love it

The restaurant itself, including the bathrooms, was just gorgeous and the service was pretty decent if I recall. I would go again but skip pasta in general for the gang.

Mega trip is right, spent half of yesterday with Sandie answering ticket and DDP questions. :rotfl:

Hmmmnnn did it?

Hmmn....don't go to Italy then! :rotfl: It's true though, it can be very different than what you might be used to, Mexican food is the same, what american's think of as Mexican and what you get in Mexico are two pretty different things.

I don't think that was the case at all here, I just think the kids pasta had really crummy meatballs and Jeff ordered the wrong thing. :rotfl: He didn't hate it, just didn't rave about it either.

In two weeks……..

I will be

  • Checking in for our flight, paying luggage fees for 3 bags (carrying on 3) and printing boarding passes
  • Finishing up last minute packing and laundry
  • Putting DME tags on our three bags
  • Putting changes of clothes for the next day and swim gear for all in the non-checked bags or carry ons.
  • Checking carry ons for liquids, confirming last minute toiletries and medicines are packed.
  • Getting a much needed haircut and possibly a manicure if I didn’t already
  • Picking up any last minute supplies, most likely reading material for me!
  • Triple checking travel docs
  • Taking my cats over to my dad’s.
  • Making sure I have a (relatively) clean house to come home to
  • Possibly giving Eric some benadryl
  • Loading up the van
  • Driving by my dad’s to pick him up so he can then drive the van back (we avoid paying for two weeks of parking this way)
  • Driving to the airport
  • Checking in

And getting on one of these!

DisneyII_full_plane_hi.jpg

Ok it probably won’t be one of these, the 2 Disney planes are both Disneyland but…you get the idea! Although I swear in ’04 when we did the red eye we were on a Disney plane

Not this one, but it’s so cool I thought I’d share the picture anyway

Wish_1.jpg

After we take off, I , and hopefully ALL of my crew will be doing this

Yeah, it’s not a sleeping on a plane pic but it’s all I had. I’m not allowing electronics on the trip beside ipods (no DS) so hopefully they will sleep on the plane.

Two weeks from today. Day 2.

You are always so detailed! I may have to print this out and double check myself- minus the cats. Well actually, I"ll be putting my kids in the care of my parents. :lmao:

LOL! Well it may be a mad scramble that entire day depending on what got (and didn't get) done this weekend and next. I need to remember to get SUPPLIES for the cats and clean the litter box to take over there. BLEH!

We have busy weekends between now and the trip but I'm REALLY hoping we are largely packed before the 10th. Our flight isn't until 10:45 pm so if we have to pack that day, we will live. I am taking the day off (wasn't originally).

Of course in the meantime I have to solve my shoe woes and possibly get another swimsuit (BLEH!)

:banana: Two bananas for two weeks!! :cool1:

Is the Benadryl for sleep? You should try melatonin... it's a wonder drug. :thumbsup2 Well I guess it isn't a drug at all since it's natural, but it's the only thing that gets Alex to sleep. He takes one every night. Zach & I take them sometimes too... Tim doesn't seem to have any trouble falling to sleep. Men... :rolleyes1

I need to look into that. Yes, for sleep. Eric does NOT sleep in cars, planes, or anything but a bed. Everyone else should be fine. Too funny that you mention it. Last night Evan couldn't sleep and came down about an hour after bedtime, complaining. Our response was basically, tough, go back up, it happens to all of us. We asked him what he wanted/expected us to do and Jeff joked about a sleeping pill.

Evan goes "melatonin?"

How in the WORLD he knew about melatonin is beyond me!

gotcha :thumbsup2

and those plans are cool, i didnt know they had ones like that, i wonder what disney pays for them as advertisment or if they do it free.

the even funnier part was Jeff going "what's melatonin"

thanks for the 2 bananas!

gotcha :thumbsup2

According to the Alaska airlines website, there are 3 active Disney planes, in tribute to the airline's long-term partnership with Disneyland® Resort. So who knows who paid, what I do know is that for Disneyland, Alaska does killer packages! So I'm pretty sure the advertising pays off.

"The Spirit of Disneyland", graced with the faces of Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck and Goofy, in 2002. It is now retired

"The Spirit of Disneyland II", a 737-900 and because it was larger that the fist one, allowed for the addition of Pluto to the mix

"Magic of Disneyland," featuring Tinker Bell, in 2005 in celebration of Disneyland's 50th anniversary.

"Spirit of Make-A-Wish" aircraft, features the image of the wish-granting Genie from Disney's "Aladdin" and the Make-A-Wish Foundation logo

Delta is supposedly the official airline of Walt Disney World...I think they need to paint a plane! We actually have Delta tickets but are flying Alaska direct, via code share.

Those Disney planes are SO amazing! Never seen one in person - as you would imagine, living in St.Louis. What a fun start to your trip to get on one of those (um, if that's what you were doing. you know what I mean)

So, good grits, but otherwise mediocre food. What a bummer. I can honestly say I've never tried grits. Even after living in the south for four years. It always reminded me of Cream of Wheat, which I hated and my parents made us eat as a kid. But maybe if they were cheesy I'd like them. I'm a big mashed potato fan.

Grits are delish! Hmmn, can you get grits at Disney? I don't think so....

Actually, they have a great catfish and pepperjack grits dish at Coral Reef that I have had before! Very tasty!

Yeay for leaving in two weeks! Suddenly, I have that song about leaving on a jet plane stuck in my head!

At our house, Benedryl works like a charm. ;)

You have a busy day planned for yourself that day! This "2 weeks from now" thing is probably good for you because it's almost like a dry-run for the actual trip. You can plan for everything now, rather than remembering everything last minute on the day you are leaving.

Good call on the no electronics rule. They would probably stare at a video game all night instead of sleep!
