Liberty Tree Tavern or Grand Floridian Cafe?

For our December trip, one day I have a lunch ADR for Liberty Tree Tavern and dinner ADR for Grand Floridian Cafe. I'm thinking we won't want to have 2 big meals in one day. I've never eaten at either, so I'm wondering which one should I cancel?

I am also interested in hearing how people feel about liberty tree. I've been to disney countless times and never eaten there but it was all i could get in on the night of the merry christmas party.

DH and I really enjoy the LTT for lunch, but we have never been to the GFC so I can't compare.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

If you go to LTT do not get the mashed potatoes! The potatoes had a checmical taste. No one in our party could eat them. The other day my husband picked up some food at a local grocery store and the potatoes had the exact same disgusting taste. I asked the store and it turns out that the food comes in big containers and are not made on site. Maybe it's a preservative but the taste-yuck.
The rest of the food was ok.

I've been to LTT twice (the second time was not my choice) and I did not care for it. It all tasted like Stouffers entrees. I guess that's not bad, but I don't spend TS $ to have food that tastes like it came from my grocer's freezer. Especially since parts of our dishes did have that starchy, processed, freezer burn sort of texture/taste.

I've never been to GFC, but I've heard very good things. It's one of the TS meals I keep in my back up plans since it's supposedly semi-easy to get a walk up there.

Boy, that's so tough because those are two of my favorite resturaunts. However I'd lean towards the LTT (far lean, the more I think about it) for 2 reasons-

1. I've only eaten at the GFC for lunch, when I love the sunlight streaming through the window. I made ADRs there for dinner once (cancelled cuz I got tummy trouble), but I did see it at dinnertime, and the lighting wasn't nearly as pleasant.
2. LTT at lunch has one of my favorite meals-the entree salad (is it called Declaration or Colony? I can't remember) and a dessert to die for. A picture's worth a thousand words-

Can't beat Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake, but be prepared. It's very sweet.

I'd choose Grand Floridian Cafe. Have been to Liberty Tree twice, once for lunch and once for dinner and while good, it doesn't stand out in my memory. My dinner at Grand Floridian does though and everything about the place was excellent.

I've not had dinner at GFC, but I have had lunch at both GFC and LTT. Overall, I liked LTT better, both in terms of atmosphere and food. The GFC atmosphere was pretty sedate (quiet), while LTT was more energenic. I liked my meal at LTT (Tri-Corner Sandwhich - roast beef sandwhich), but the Rustic Chicken sandwhich at GFC was kind of bland. However, the dessert sampling at GFC was really good - that was the best part of that meal.

So funny...I just made adrs for both of these also and wanted to really just do one good meal our last day but couldn't decide which one out of these 2 because we haven't done either. I think we will give LTT a shot! (just because of the dessert picture! :thumbsup2).

Thanks for posting this question! :)

We had lunch at LTT and it was excellent but it is a rich, heavy meal so it is good if you are not going to eat a big dinner

Love GFC for breakfast and dinner so I bet lunch is excellent too

We really liked our LTT lunch when we were there in September, and my DD9 requested to go back there on her B-day in May. The Colony salad is amazing  and there was a toffee dessert that was just as good. I can't wait to go back :goodvibes

Depending on what you order at LTT it isn't necessarily a "big meal". The lunch menu is mostly sandwiches, though you can get the Yankee Pot Roast. The dinner at LTT is the family style "Thanksgiving dinner" type meal that you can eat until you burst. Lunch is off of a menu and, as I said, mostly sandwiches.

GFC is a much more varied and "nice" menu. More non-sandwich options, especially for dinner.

Advantages:

LTT is a fun setting, in the park, and you can buy the glass mugs for $5 each (best secret souvenier in all of WDW!!!!)

GFC is a nicer setting, fancier feeling, bigger menu, "nicer" food options, nice escape from the park (take the boat from the MK over to the GF at the boat dock - like getting an extra "ride").

Unless the lunch is late and the dinner is early I would do both, but that's just us. :)

we're eating at both this week :)

we love LTT...

it will be our first time at GFC!

Does LTT still have character dining for dinner? Haven't been to since 2007 and have not heard much mentioned about the characters lately. :thanks:

Have not eaten at LTT, but we really enjoyed our late dinner at GFC....in fact, it was the best service we had the whole week we were there.

LTT (for lunch) is much better than GFC. I liked the GF but the food is much better at LTT. We got at least once a trip, sometimes twice. Love their pot roast and their pasta (until they took it off the menu).

I ate at both of these restaurants on my last trip and I would cancel Liberty Tree Tavern without a doubt! The only thing I enjoyed there was the pomengrate lemonade. Grand Floridian Cafe was far superior in quality and taste!

I really like both of these places. We've enjoyed great food at each. The atmosphere is very different tho. I suggest you make your decision on your plans, rather than the food. If you want to stay in the park, eat & relax just a bit before continuing with your touring, eat at Liberty Tree. If you want to spend a relaxing evening with a leisurely dinner & enjoy the surroundings at the Grand, keep the dinner at the GF Cafe. I don't think you'll be disappointed in either. Have a great vacation! :flower3:

Oh, man. Without compare, Grand Floridian Cafe wins hands down. Liberty Tree might be the best in Magic Kingdom, but, when considering all of the Monorail resorts, it pales in comparison.

In my opinion, Grand Floridian Cafe is one of the best values in the entirety of WDW. They have very good food and reasonable-for-Disney prices. The Grand Floridian Burger is one of the best burgers I've ever had anywhere.
