Hi
Anyone help me on which one to fly into. we're going for 3 days in the middle of our orlando holiday, and can fly into either of these airports for the same price, which is easier/cheaper to get into the city.

thanks

Sam

Hi Sam,

We did NY last year as the first part of our Orlando holiday, flying in to JFK and then onto MCO from LGA. I'd have to say that LaGuardia was my preference out of the two - less crowded and easier to navigate. Also JFK had a lot of rebuilding work going on where LGA was clean and tidy.

Finally I think the cab ride into central NY is also a little bit quicker from LGA, but from memory the prices were pretty much the same.

Hope this all helps.
Paul

We have landed at JFK and used the coaches of New York Airport Services to get into Manhattan, all your transport can be booked from home direct with them on http://www.nyairportservice.com/index.html they also go from LGA check it out.
A taxi is ok, if their is only a couple of you, but we paid nearly $50 each way 2 years ago plus tolls plus tip, the coach cost us $44 return for both of us this March 03!
Are you not considering Newark airport? weve also landed there with Continental but you have to book transport when you get to the airport.

Hope you enjoy NY

Of the airports you mentioned, all things being equal, LaGuardia is easier to navigate and has easier road access to Manhattan.

HOWEVER, as a preious poster indicated, I would consider NEWARK Airport as well if the airline arrangements work out....it is now the most popular of the 3 NYC area airports (busiest, but well-organized and by far the best of the 3 in the area)...and now offers direct rail link into the city! (You just take the "AirTrain" --like Disney's Monorail--over to Newark's Penn Station)...no messing with cabs, buses etc...anymore!

Good luck!

This Oct we did a non direct to MCO going into JFK and out of LGA. I was very impressed by LGA, clean, efficient, not so busy and nice shopping and eating. Incidentally the transfer was very easy and despite my fears I would do it again if the price was right.
Last time we took a cab from JFK to Manhattan (Sept 02) it was $35 plus tolls and tip, has it gone up? I'd prefer this to the train or bus any day as it takes you direct to oyur hotel, no lugging of suitcases!!

I am a New Yorker and out of the 3 I much prefer Newark. I have flown many, many times from Italy to NY, via London and Newark would definitely be my choice.

Hello,

I live in NY and I will help you best I can - MCO has non stop to both airports. LGA is smaller and easier to move about in, but sometimes can be a mess in terms of getting your luggage, unless you only will have a carry on.

JFK - Huge and loads of traffic, but they just opened up the SKY train today - for $5 it will take you into midtown manhattan rather than a $25 taxi ride.

Good luck with your planning!

Anyone with more info on the New Sky train service? I can't track down any other references to it?
