Lexi's pre-trip report for Dream Factory wish trip! June 18-24, 2009

There are designated smoking areas in every park. They are marked on the maps, so look for them and avaoid them. I have rarely had problems with people smoking outside of those areas. My sister smokes, and came with us on our trip in October...so we learned where all the smoing areas were (not our choice!)

Lynn

Thanks for the info. I don't mind if people smoke but want to keep the kids from it. Doesn't sound like it will be a problem.

Lexi recieved a package today and boy was she excited. She knows what she is going to wear to eat with Snow White now. Thank you so much Teresajoy. I think the pics will tell you how much she loves it.

We only have hours before we leave. Time has flown by. There is sooooo much to get done today I won't probably reply until I get back. That is unless I have a question that creeps up:rolleyes1

Thank you to all of you who have given me so much information and helped in the planning of this trip. I hope I am able to help someone in return.

Have a great time! Eat a Mickey ice cream for me!!!!

So we wake at 4:00 am with the hopes of being on the road by 4:30. Nobody really slept the night before because we were all way to excited

Of course I find a bunch of last minute stuff that just can't wait until we come home so we actually don't leave until 4:50. (My nephew and his fiance decided to stay at out house while we were gone. They decided this at the last minute so I had to clean and such before they got here )

We get to the airport and DH decides to drop me off with the kids and luggage so I can check in while he parks in remote parking and takes the bus back. That would have been a fine plan if I didn't have 3 suitcases, 4 carry-on bags and a carseat that itself weighed almost 40 pounds. So I am trying to get this all up to the check-in window bruise my wrist and cut my arm in the process. O.K. this is not starting out very well but DH insisted I needed to check in before he got back so on I will continue.
Finally made it to the ticket window and the lady there was very very nice and even helped me carry the bags to the actual place where you leave the luggage. So now I only have 2 kids and 4 carry-on bags and a 40 lb carseat with me. The kids each carried their own so that did help out alot. We made it to the security check-in and waited for DH there. The line wasn't so bad so I wasn't worried. DH arrives and wanted to know why I hadn't already checked in through security I think to myself "We are all excited and tired and I am not going to even mention the trouble I just went through." Bite my lip and move on.

Waiting for the airplane the kids were hungry so I went and bought 2 waters and 2 muffins and it came to almost 13 dollars. Wow they really get you at the airport!.

For anyone traveling Southwest alot has changed. First it is still open seating but they seat you according to check'in and kids don't matter anymore. I nicely went to the lady at the gate and asked if we could sit together or at least one of us with each kid as we had a special needs child. She told me there wasn't any preference for this and we would board between groups A and B. O.K. is this trip really starting out this way?????

I go back to the kids who were way excited for the plane ride.

Now it is time to board the plane. It is a completely full flight but we manage to sit 2 x 2 right across from each other but we both scooted in for others so we really can't communicate. I did get a couple pics of the plane ride.

IMG_0413.jpg

The flight was really quick and we landed 15 minutes early. We took the cool little subway thingy over to the other side of the airport, my kids love this thing everytime we go.
IMG_0414.jpg

Now the real magic will begin!!!!

We meet our greeter who is holding up the really neat sign that my DD thought was great.
We tried to push our luggage and everything but was told no. I felt really bad having this big guy with me and this cute little lady was manuvering all of our luggage through the airport. I am not used to this but I understand why they do it.
IMG_0416.jpg

Our greeter "Linda" takes DH to the car rental window while the kids and I wait. We were told we would be getting a compact car which was fine with me because at least we didn't have to pay for it. DH comes back with the keys and paperwork and takes us over to a Saturn Vue. Wow. Pixie Dust. The kids were happy because we have a van and they didn't want to ride in a car. The little things that make us happy.

We tell our greeter by and she says she will meet us at the village.
O.K. now is the time to see how living in a small town and not venturing out on busy highways affects us. We get lost for almost 1 whole hour. Don't know how we did it but it happened. We just kinda laughed it off because we knew this was a possibility no matter how good the directions were. We ended paying almost 10 dollars in tolls but finally made it to the village.

We walk in and a nice lady meets us and already know who we are. I guess she had been waiting for us for quite awhile. We sit with her and go over the welcome packet. The kids each recieved a t-shirt and DD got a Mickey Mouse and DS got a shamu. The kids and I rode in the golf cart with the volunteer and DH followed us in the SUV.
We were staying in the new villas right across from the playground. Villa number 253. We were amazed at the villa's. Here are some pics.

I love the start to your trip. I have done the airport thing with two kids, a stroller, 2 car seats and carryon bags, but I did not have a husband meeting me until the next day. Moms seem to have an amazing inner strength that comes out when we need it the most. You did a great job. I also would be driving around Orlando lost. I love the start to your trip report. The photos are great!

You took off from Eppley? Looks Very familiar! :) Sorry to hear that your trip was starting off on the wrong foot. Hope to hear it gets better and way way better!
Welcome back btw.

Becky

I am glad your trip is already getting better! All the bags do not sound easy at all! You were so great just biting your lip!

I don't really get the airlines at all! They just annoy me with this whole seat thing!

I can't wait for more!!

Hi! I just found your TR and PTR and read through it completely. You have two wonderful children. Can't wait for more!

Yes it was pretty annoying. The best or worst part was trying to strap in a car seat when the plane was already full of people. Luckily everyone was understanding and very patient. I forgot to tell you that DS slept the whole plane ride so I got some peace and quiet! Dh sat with DD who was awake and wanting to play games the whole way:rotfl2: Guess that is fair for biting my lip.:rotfl:

I am going to warn everyone now that I will give away some secretes and surprises in my TR. If you are one who doesn't want to know anything then skip this until after your trip.

Also I took over 1,000 pics so beware I will share my favs with you. I won't bore you with all of them.:upsidedow

Yeah I found the pics. So we get to the villa and unpack. Here are some more pics.
The kids love this "indoor swimming pool"
IMG_0424.jpg

This is what was the drive-thru!. My kids love playing stuff like this.
IMG_0426a.jpg

DD very happy they put some diet pop in the fridge for her.

Everything that was in the bag when we arrived.

One of our many visitors.

So we settle in and I head to orientation at 3:00. Dh was going to take the kids swimming. I get into orientation and it starts storming. Big thunder and lightening. My kids are so terrified of storms and I knew they would be wanting me. I relay this to the person in charge so she was nice enough to hurry through it. Sure enough I leave the orientation room and both my kids are standing there waiting for me.

We had 4:30 res. for BBB in Downtown Disney so off we head. The funny part of this is we went the looooong way and didn't even realize it until a few days later.:lmao:
Here are some pics at the BBB.

We go to leave and it is still raining out. We forgot to bring the ponchos (something we didn't forget again the whole trip). DH goes and gets the car and pulls up as far as he can. Luckily no hair was ruined in this process.

We leave DTD to go back to the village for Christmas. When we get there it is still sprinkling. There weren't any decorations or snow etc because of the weather but it was still pretty and magical.

We decided to eat at the Gingerbread House which was pretty good. My kids weren't to happy because we didn't realize they had a kids buffet and had them eat off the regular menu but with the promise of ice cream they had no trouble eating their green beans.;)

We go to meet Santa and learn that Mrs Clause is also there. Off to Santa first. He told DD a very cute story after finding out she had a dog named "Giselle". He told her that the dog was barking last Christmas and he had to give her a cookie to keep her quiet. At this point DS pipes up and says he remembers this happening. LOL
Santa79.jpg

The kids picked their presents. It was a hard decision because there was so much to choose from. DD ended up with a Disney Sorry game and DS picked a Hulk nerf football. Next to see Mrs. Clause in the Castle of Miracles.
MrsClaus177.jpg

We played around in their for awhile. It was just to neat to leave w/o playing.
Then it was time for the promised ice cream. DD got ice cream everyday and sometimes 2 x a day. She got cookies one time and lollipops at one of the parks. She did overall pretty good with this and I was really surprised that her health was better on this trip than it was the week prior to leaving. Also DS didn't need any breathing treatments and his allergies cleared up as did mine.:wizard:

We go back to get ready for bed because we have res. w/ princesses in the morning. (Thanks to the advice of my new friends on this dis board).

We go outside for one more look at the magical playground when an owl lands in the driveway right by the car. We moved and scared it off, it flew over to the fence of the playground. It was so beautiful and stayed there every night. If you are in this area when you go make sure to find this beautiful white owl. Pics to come.

We head to bed but guess what we are sooooo excited we have a hard time falling asleep again.

Stay tuned for Day 2. Will DD get to meet her beloved Snow White??????
