Lewis Clan Trip - Part Four: Favorite Tips

Thanks to everyone for all the great tips given on these boards. Even though I haven’t posted much, I lurk almost every day (sometimes multiple times a day). Among our favorite tips were:

1. The park entrance at AK through Rainforest Café. Even though there was a mob at the front gate at park opening, there were only about five people in line at this entrance, and we were able to get in and head straight for Safari for a walk-on. For those of you who have not tried this, you can get to this entrance by heading through the Rainforest Café gift shop to the patio outside. There is a park entrance on that patio. Try it!

2. Getting a PS in the Magic Kingdom for dinner before the MVMCP. The best part of the party for us was the first 45 minutes (walk-on for Splash Mountain, etc.), and we got to experience it because we were already in the park. They released us at 7:30.

3. Getting to the parks at opening time. It is worth making the effort to get out of bed. Those first few hours of the day are golden.

4. FASTPASS. FASTPASS. FASTPASS. There is no way to say it enough.

5. When going from Toontown to Tomorrowland, use the little walkway that starts beside the train depot. It’s much less crowded – a nice break, and possibly shorter, depending on where you are headed.

6. Leave those commando boots at home. It took me 5 days to get out of the commando mode, but now that I have experienced one day in the relaxation mode, I’ll never go back.

Thanks again to everyone for all the tips. Now maybe it’s time to start lurking around the cruise boards . . . hummmm . . .

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and tips from your Disney trip, I really enjoyed reading them and just had to chuckle when you said you don't like "It's a Small World." Neither does my husband, and I informed him that on THIS trip we have to ride it TWICE! He wanted to know WHY! We just bought a new videocamera (our old one was one of those huge, clunky, rest-on-your-shoulder type things and we never took it to the parks before but our new one is a small one) and I told him we have to ride through it twice so I can video tape everything on one side first, then I can video tape everything on the other side the second trip. Needless to say he wasn't impressed much. :D And your idea of not having so many sit-down meals is a good one, in my opinion. I always think we're wasting so much time on sit-down dinners, time where we could be riding rides or seeing shows. There are only a couple restaurants I REALLY want to eat at this time, but the rest of the time we'll just grab fast stuff. Give me a turkey leg to gnaw on and I'll be happy! And yes, you might want to start lurking on the cruise line board. We booked our cruise last April for January, it's our first one and I've been reading the boards ever since. Can hardly wait to go! Doing WDW 4 days before the 7-night cruise too, then another week in Florida on our own after that. Sure will be nice to get out of this cold Michigan weather for awhile!! Thanks again for your trip report, really enjoyed it! :D

Those are excellent tips, RSGroup. I especially like the one about eating in the MK before MVMCP. :)

Thanks for sharing your trip with us. :)

I read all your reports and enjoyed them. Short and to the point, thanks!

We did our first day in the relaxed mode and the rest in the commando mode. We did a lot more in the commando mode and came back feeling we accomplished everything we wanted to.

I also have found that doing the EE days is really the way to go. Thanks for posting!
