We are currently in Disneyland and have two more days in the parks. Just learned that the Canadian government has issued a travel advisory about large gatherings etc. Not sure what to do now. Do we abandon the rest of our trip and head home or so we keep on as we've been doing? What are others doing?

It all feels too overwhelming. We have been doing our best while at Disneyland, wearing masks inside, sanitizing etc. And surprisingly it has felt fine, very little anxiety on my part even with all the coughing I hear! This new advisory has thrown me though. So many questions Does this change our health insurance? Will there be consequences in terms of quarantine upon arrival back to Canada?

From my understanding, Monkeypox requires close physical contact in order to spread and is not airborne like covid is. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless something else comes to light.

Level 2 - Practise enhanced health precautions

A level 2 travel health notice indicates an increased risk to travellers or certain groups of travellers (for example, pregnant women, campers, people visiting friends and relatives) and reminds them to practise enhanced health precautions.
Enhanced health precautions may include:

  • the use of personal protective equipment
  • delaying travel until risk is lower
  • additional recommended vaccinations for some groups
  • avoiding higher-risk activities
Travellers are advised to follow the enhanced health precautions outlined in the travel health notice in addition to the usual health precautions recommended for the destination.

I am confused...probably my autistic mind, but what does do you mean by "I just can't"?...can't get it?

Monkeypox is transmitted sexually.
From what I understand, it isn't by definition. But the close contact that such acts would entail make it easily transmissible. Also the fact of where the rash and sores appear most often tend to make sexual activity more likely to spread the disease. Close physical contact of any kind could also spread it.
