I'm trying to write a letter for my neighbors and friends to get them to donate their kids old halloween costumes to the local Ronald McDonald house, and I'm at a total blank. Anyone ever do this?? If you have an idea of how I should start it, or if you have a copy of one you handed out (for something along these lines) I'd really appreciate it. I have a head cold - in came the mucus, out went the brain if you KWIM.

TIA

How about something like:

"Tired of having to store your kids old Halloween costumes year after year? How about helping turn other little ones into ghouls and goblins (and fairy princesses too!)? Please donate Halloween costumes to the Ronald McDonald house so that other kids can join in the fun! Thanks for "chewsing" to help!" and then maybe put a little bag of candy with it (hence the "chewsing" part). I'm so cheesy. And information on how to get to the Ronald McDonald house (or can they give them to you?) and some fun Fall/Halloween clip art. Of course, this is assuming you're hand delivering them or putting them in people's mailboxes.

Well I guess I should have called before I posted this......

They won't take any costumes that are used because the children there have "comprimised imune systems", and they can't risk that. Makes sence. They said that they would take decorations and stuff like that..... I just think people would be more willing to donate something like an old costume rather than something they have to go out and buy, like decorations.

Wow. That does make sense but too bad for the kiddos :(. You're right, it would be a lot easier to get people to donate used costumes than it would be decorations. It was nice of you to consider it (I wonder if other organizations would take them? Like homeless shelters, churches, etc.). Oh, and I hope you feel better!

Thats what I'm thinking about now - finding if theres a homeless shelter around, or something like that. Maybe I can contact the local food bank?? I think thats what I'll try next.

And thanks, I am feeling better, but my brain still isn't working! :upsidedow
