Letter from Kindergarten parent:

You're a big tease, now I want to see ALL of this woman's wacky requests LOL

How can you get a 5/6 yr old to not talk about a trip to Disney? That is crazy. If anything, it would make Trina more excited.

k.

On the second day of school, I received an email with 27 numbered questions. One was, "What is your goal for the children this week, and how will you let me know if Trina met that goal?"

Um, the first week of Kindergarten? (a 3-day week, btw) My goal is that nobody cries, nobody wets their pants, everybody eats their lunch and everybody makes a friend.

She wanted a list of the names of every single person that her child may come into contact with in the building, from the custodian to the lunch lady to the principal.......and she wanted a copy of their background checks.:scared1:

She wanted me to have parent conferences with her on Saturdays because weeknights were too tiring for her. (I didn't, mostly because it would set a bad precedent for future teachers)

She berated me for my "3-second rule" at the drinking fountain, and she produced a DOCTOR'S NOTE saying that Trina should be able to drink as long as she wants. Did she ever ask me to explain my rule? Of course not. She just took her child's sob story at face value. Here's the deal: after Gym, we have about 5 minutes to have 18 kids get drinks, go to the bathroom if needed, and get ready for lunch. So the kids line up at the drinking fountain and they drink while the child behind them says, "1-2-3, enough for me". I tell them to say it nice and slow. If the drinker didn't get enough water, s/he is allowed to go to the end of the line for "seconds". This is only twice a week, only after Gym. The rest of the time, any child may get a drink whenever s/he needs one, for however long s/he feels the need to drink.

Never before have I had to explain my little classroom procedures in such ridiculous detail as I did with that parent.

She hasn't let up much. The 1st grade teacher has been in tears in the principal's office a lot this year. :sad2:

While I did laugh at all this wacko requests, I feel really sorry for the poor little girl, and of course the teachers. Teachers only have to deal with her a year while that child is scared for life.

Alice--that is a lovely letter! You should copyright it.

As for this mother--ugh! She is one of those people you just wait to move on out of your life and hope they have no reason to come back. Man, talk about helicoptering!!

Ugh!!! You letter brings me right back to my teaching days and makes me fear the day when I need to return.... especially knowing that I will have to build my reputation again and be grilled by all of the parents.

Oh my goodness...parents like that are the reason I fear for our future! Imagine what they are teaching their child about her place in the world...and the spotlight that should be forever shining on her! Disappointment is going to hit her hard!

I think that kindergarten teachers are the most courageous people in the world!

You SHOULD write a book. I would buy it!!! I'm sure you have a million stories!!!

:goodvibes

Oh my goodness!!

Whenever I have a parent like that in my class....my BIGGEST fear is that there are younger siblings coming!! Little Trina doesn't have any younger bros. or sisters does she?? You might have to think about switching out of Kindergarten that year!!

My teammates & I always have quite the heated discussion about who should get THOSE younger siblings when they get to 1st grade!!:rotfl:

That is too funny. How dare someone else take their kid to WDW before they do? Didn't they clear it with the planning committee before hand?

They should keep her way from my DD who had been to WDW 12 times by times she was out of Kindergarten. (she went twice that year, but this year we felt it was best to only take her out of school once since she is in 1st grade now. ) :rolleyes1

You just know this woman was one of those bridezillas who threw a tantrum if anyone else got married or had babies within a year of HER day. ( hate that phrase. It isn't "your day", it belongs to everyone and you're just using it.)

that is to much !! First of all the cannot believe the gall of that parent to even write you that note...she must be a bit off. And to seriously expect you to keep another student from talking about their trip? oh my. Your response to her was very good.

::yes:: :rotfl2: :lmao:

I'll bet little Trina wore Heelies every day of her trip...while her dad smoked in non smoking sections!

And they used every pool in every resort and they have saved their refillable mugs for their next trip when they have saved up for their next "fortune costing" vacation. And as the parades started, little Trina was pushed through the crowds to sit in front row, since this was HER parade to watch. And little Trina didn't need an admission ticket as her parents pushed her in a stroller and insisted that she was under 3:rotfl2:

What a nut! Some parents are crazy! Now let me go and write a thank you to my dd's Kindergarten teacher. I want to ask her about the goals for the week.:lmao:

I am a teacher too! Middle school:confused:

I hope she doesn't have any siblings:angel:
