pirate: princess:

I heard there is going to be more dates for P&P parties and there is going to be one the 1st and last night we are going in May (May 2nd or 9th). We have never done an extra party at WDW, as we normally have AP's and are kids were pretty small whenever we were there in the past and there was a party and we didn't want to stay up too late.

Now my girls are 3 and 7 and we are considering doing it, but I wonder if it is worth the extra.

Is there an AP discount or anything like that?

If you have been before did you enjoy it? Was it a lot better then just spending a normal night in MK?

If you have links to threads were this is already discussed, feel free to post them. I have such a hard time with the Dis search.

Thanks in advance!

We just returned from WDW, where we took our two kids (DS4.5 and DD2.5) to the P&PP. We wondered whether it was worth the extra cost - but I can tell you we had a fabulous time! My DS really loved the "treasure spots," where they got "loot," and to me it was worth it just for the short lines for Dumbo! :-) They loved getting dressed up - the parade and the fireworks were fantastic!

All that said, I have never been to a "regular" night at Disney - so I can't tell you how it compares. All I can tell you is that we had a blast.

Good luck!

Thanks. Now we have to decide if we do this, if we want to do it a night it is just Dh and I and the 2 girls, or a night that our friends will be there with 2 boys the same age as our girls (3 and 7).

We did it when we were there in August and our kids had a blast. We got there around 4 pm and they let us in then. It was crowded until about 7 pm (the official party start time). After 7 pm unless you had a wrist band you had to leave the park. By 7:30 all the rides were walk on. The fireworks were spectacular! The kids loved the themed Pirates and Princesses Parade too, along with seeing all the characters. Dd (16) especially like Captain Jack. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Thanks. I know I can look up the price somewhere. Do you remember how much it was?

What other kinds of special things did they have?

:thumbsup2

We went to the P&PP Jan 29. It was great! All of the rides were walk on or a wait of just a minute or two. There were 12 treasure spots where you collected jewels or necklaces. There were two dance parties with characters which DD (4) loved! There were character meet and greets but the lines were pretty long so we skipped those. The special fireworks and parade were awesome!

I think the cost is about $40 a ticket - if I remember right it was like $42.99 for adults and $37.99 for kids or something like that. That is the discounted price for buying in advance.

We would go again in a heartbeat!

We went in August with my DD who was almost 6 and we had a great time. The fireworks were amazing and we got to sit right in front of the castle a few minutes before they started. My DD was just asking me today if we could go to the party again this year because it was her favorite thing on our trip last year.

There are AP discounts, but only for select nights of the party. So, it's basically hit or miss if when you are there, the tickets you bought are one of the nights they offer the AP discount. And, it only applies buying the tickets in advance. Don't try to show up the day of and get the AP discount, it won't work!

One of the nicest things about all of these special event parties (and I've done them all at Disney) is that the sell only a limited amount of tickets, around 30,000 or so. So, even if they do sell out, the park is far less crowded during party hours (7-midnight) then you would normally see, and rides are basically walk on. The parade and fireworks are also not to be missed. The one downside is waiting for characters, especially the more popular ones, like Jack Sparrow at the P&PP, can take 45 minutes to an hour, and that really cuts into your time.

Remember too, if you are going to a party, they will let you in at 4 pm. So, theoretically, you could go to a different park all day (or relax at the hotel or whatever) then show up at 4, stay until closing at midnight, and get 8 hours in the park for around $45 a person. You wouldn't have to use up a day on your park hoppers!

You guys are making me more excted about this.
My question is this.....you all keep raving about the parade & fireworks.
Pease tell me they are not at like 1130 at night.......
Even with a nap, my kids won't make it until then...

I'm glad there's so many thumbs up for this :thumbsup2 ! We have tickets for the end of this month! When I purchased them I noticed it said the price I would pay if I bought them at the park and it was higher.

When I ordered my Tickets for the 4/16 P&PP I was told the fireworks would be at 8:30pm..which is good since our flight gets in at 5pm that day. It gives us a few hours to get our stuff to the hotel and freshen up :)

We did it last tuesday 2/5 and had a really good time and we got some great pics Minnie was gorgeous in her princess costume and so was daisy. Unfortuneately my laptop decided to go crazy so I can't post any pics right now but I will see what I can do by the end of the week.

ETA~ I also still have my map and times guide I will dig it out in the morning and post some info. The parade was @ 8.30 and the fireworks were around 9.30 the night we were there b/c I remember thinking I am glad they did it early and we still have time to do other things we actually didn't make it to the front of the park to see the show my dd did how ever enjoy the dance party in fantasy land w/ sebastian and flounder. To be honest if I would have been able to I would have paid for another night just to be able to sit and watch the fireworks and show but we had to go home before the next party.

I just found this link (here at Dis) and not only do AP holder get a discount, but DVC does too. So glad because we will be buying new AP for this trip and not getting them until the day we arrive since we are DVC and want to get the DVC AP discount.

So cool. :cool1: Now I think we will do it. I was feeling unsure about the price, but more pleased now. :thumbsup2

We were also at the P &PP on 2/5 and we got there around 5:30 and stayed until around 11:30. We were so glad we did it, my DD loved going to all of the treasure spots and for my DH and I, having 2 younger kids, it was worth the price of admission to not have to wait in line for anything! The only ride we saw that had a long line was Peter Pan. Every ride was open and we never waited more than a minute or two for each attraction. My DD also loved the guard training w/ Aladdin (it's right outside Pirate's of the Caribbean). We would do it again in a heartbeat!

Oddly enough the whole time we were in disney the Peter Pan line was ridiculous but maybe that was b/c snow white was closed, but then again none of the other rides were as busy looking as peter pan.

I'm so excited reading this thread, we just book the P&PP last night for May. My boys will be 6.5 and 8 when we go, they are very excited about going. My 6yo said I will go as long as I DON'T have to see any princess. :lmao: He is all boy. He also said he wants to go the Pirate party our first night there he doesn't under stand that we can only go one night and we go on our 5th night there. This is going to be great.
What do most people do, eat at the park that night or should we eat at the resort and then go over to the party?

We ate at Cosmic Rays during the party.

Dont forget your princess and pirate outfits for both young and old.

Question: When you buy the tix to the PPP, is that all you need? Or do you need these tix in ADDITION to tix to the Magic Kingdom??

With Disney, I am afraid to assume anything! Thanks! princess:
