I had a thought. As some of you know, I drove most of the places I went while we were at Dis-Con (just what I'm used to.) Sometimes I went by myself to and from, and then found out later that someone needed a ride. I think next year we should try and coordinate rides with each other. <--Can you tell I want to talk about Dis-Con? :D

I am here Dayna.. and I am listening.. but let me tell you. I know there is no way Tom will drive from Boston. I have tried that many times.. I hate to fly too.. so I just take my drugs and get on and say my prayers that I get there safely.

Marsha, I don't think I was clear in my post. I meant driving once we are there. If we went to dinner some nights, I would drive and then figure out that someone from the Yacht or Swan or someplace near me was waiting on the bus. I'm just trying to think of Dis-Con things to talk about waaaaaaaay ahead of time. :D

Well, more than likely I'll rent a car (unless I'm living there :D), and can definitely take people to and fro. I didn't use it much at DIS-Con I, but it did come in handy for when we all went SHOPPING, ya know?

Steve, our shopping spree was fun! :bounce: Thank goodness for that BIG trunk! :D

Dayna, I just want to jump in here and raise my hand first! You were a delightful driver/companion at DIS-Con.......so I say........."shotgun!" :D :D :D

Within my first 24 hours at WDW I had ridden with several different people.....Thank You! :)

I rode with Dan, Steve, Dayna, and Tammy. :) I almost rode with Norma and KarenNY. :D

I really appreciated all of the ride offers.......it was very generous of all of you. :)

I never use a car in WDW...it is so much faster to get anywhere via WDW transportation. Once I started using it I hardly ever get a car anymore. The only time I needed a car, was to go to the spa and this awesome DISer (shovel shovel) took me there, of course she was going there too....lol.

Really I think that it is worth saving the money...since their transporation gets you there faster.

Glo, I swear to you that I would have thought the same exact thing just a month ago. But after having rides from everywhere imaginable--to everywhere imaginable--I am a firm believer in driving your own car (or should I say, I'm a firm believer in having someone else drive you in their car :D ) at WDW. :)

The parking was sooooooo easy. My only concern would be getting lost on WDW's roads....but my drivers :D were very knowledgable in this area. ;) :D :p

I'm not ready to drive at WDW, but I'm ready and willing to be driven around by someone else at WDW. :D

I've only done WDW without a car once in the last 8 years. And I ended up having to take a (free) shuttle van over to the Urgent Care center on that trip. Even though I barely used my lime green rental car during DIScon, it came in handy a couple of times and that alone justified the cost for me. Perhaps I may drive to DIScon 2002, but only if I can convince DW Sue to come along.

I drive everywhere I go too, Dayna! OK..I just checked...I put a whopping 276 miles on my car during my 3 weeks at WDW
Now it has me wondering, just where the heck did I GO??? LOL

I did WDW for 20 years without a car. Then in 1991 we rented one and that's how I have done it ever since!
Anyway, no doubt I'll be renting a car next year, so put me on the "DIS Con ll Shuttle"list!

Glo, I was mainly thinking of when we went to different resorts to eat. It can be hard to get from resort to resort efficiently (especially if one or more parks has already closed), and I will have my car anyway since I drive down. :D

I have mixed feelings about having a car at WDW. They are convenient for getting oneself to and from the airport, but I really don't like driving it to the parks. We had a car for DIS-Con, but we visited my mom in Cocoa first, and the rest of the family planned to go to Universal one day (which they ended up not doing). Cars ARE helpful for visiting the resorts - especially the WL and AKL. I'm debating on whether to spend $110 for a rental car in April (for a week) or $27 for Mears, and right now the cheap side of me is winning!

Wow, Nancy! I don't think it cost me even $110 in gas to get my OWN car down there & back!! Personally, I could never be there without a car...but then again, since I don't fly, you can take that literally! :p ;) :D

I had my little Focus with me as I picked up sis in Delaware and stopped by DS' in NC to break up the long ride down to WDW. This time I had 3 guest with me so I couldn't offer any rides but may not have as many next year so I will delay volunteering my services til closer to the date when I will know just what the situation is. Confused - I do that most times:confused:

I have to have a car.....but if I get in at the BCV next year for DISCON I am thinking about not having a car.

I Gave a couple of people rides this year, and it was not problem...and if I have a car again next year I will do the same.

With the exception of the Valet Parking nightmare at the Swan on Karaoke night...Don't tell you know who but we had to wait over 30 minutes for my car to be brought around and I was not a Happy Camper.

I have never used a car at Disney before DisCon and Dayna! I liked it! IT was so easy to go somewhere at the last minute. It was great. I still probably won't rent one myself, I had to drive on vacation, but who knows, some day I might actually want to go somewhere offsite. GASP! Did I actually say that out loud??

Famous last words: I AM going to get to Universal next time. With car. But don't hold me to it. :D

I don't think I have ever done WDW without a car. Takes just to long to get anywhere. Of course you can always do the Tammy method of touring. Go to whatever park's bus arrives first.

Hauling the wheelchair around kinda makes a car a necessary evil at times. Although I refuse to drive to the MK there the bus is best.

If dear hubby comes this year we will have room to transport at least 2 people with us and hopefully this year we will be staying at the YC instead of the AS.

I'm toying with the idea of renting a car this next time, too. Mostly for the convenience of getting to and from the airport. That way I won't be at the mercy of Mears. It also helps when you need to get from one resort to the next and they're not on the monorail. :)
