Let's say you kidnap a Travelocity Gnome and something happens to him- update post 84

Take the pieces with you to Las Vegas. Take pictures of a new one at the craps table, then take pictures of the pieces of the old one out in the desert. Tell the family he owed money to the wrong people. :rotfl2: After a week or so, send them the new one and tell them what happened.

:lmao: this is the one I would go with especially since you said your family has a sense of humor and WE need to see pictures too

Take the broken gnome to vegas and recreate The Hangover with the gnome trying to remember where all his pieces are and what happened.

Absolutely brilliant.

Don't even explain what happened. Send the pics of the gnome at the hospital and continue the story. It will explain why he arrives home later in one piece - better than new. :lmao:

I read the first thread about this gnome-knapping.

I'm just amazed....YOU STILL HAVE THE GNOME?!!! :scared1:

Wow, i would be one POed relative around now.

Come clean. Make sure you get the EXACT one.

I had no idea you could buy one of these.
DS always thinks we should have one when we travel, but carrying one around does not sound so fun.

Of course, now I have to buy one.:thumbsup2

This!!! It's perfect!

Question about these gnomes.
What are they made of?
How tall is the gnome?
And more importantly, is there an opening in the bottom? With or without a rubber plug?

Just curious.

Yes, we still have the gnome. He had a lot of places to visit. I don't think he's missing any appointments back home.;) I don't think anyone back in Maine is upset that we still have him. We keep getting requests for more pictures of his travels, but we're saving most of them to put in a travel journal that will be sent home with him. The new gnome is supposed to arrive tomorrow (*crossing fingers*) and should be identical to the other one (*again crossing fingers*).

Well, I THOUGHT he was pretty much indestructable and unbreakable, but we know now differently.:scared1: He has traveled over 10,000 miles since we kidnapped him. Not a scratch on him until earlier today when I dropped him. Of course, he landed on a cement patio.:headache:

The Travelocity Gnomes are made of cast resin. They're very lightweight and feel like hard plastic. Our gnome is 13 inches (well, he used to be:rolleyes:) but there is also an 8 inch gnome, and I think a larger one. There is a small hole in the bottom of the platform with no plug.

Thanks everyone, for all the funny suggestions and ideas.:lmao: I really do feel bad that the gnome is now in three pieces. I'm leaning towards just sending the new gnome back and not saying anything...until next year when we go to Maine for part of the summer.:rotfl:

In the meantime, I think we'll have some fun taking pictures. Love some of the ideas here!:lmao:

Wow, it's been that long... I remember reading the original topic when you created it. I would say go with number 4. You've got to include a bit of humor in with what you did by accident.

I say number 3.

We bought a Travelocity gnome for my dad at Meijer. If there's one near you, it might be cheaper than paying for express shipping.

My thought was, if he lost an arm and a leg, you should ship back the rest of it with a note saying "Traveling around the country is expensive!" (cost an arm and a leg?) ;)

Followed quickly by a replacement, of course

Awesome that your family has such a cool sense of humor; it wouldn't surprise me if they took it well and in good spirit. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure if we have Meijer's around here. I know the original Travelocity Gnome came from QVC, and I ordered the new one through Amazon.com.

The new gnome arrived today and he is exactly the same as the one I kidnapped. PHEW!

Here is a recreation of the accident scene.:scared1:

The new gnome's hat is a bit lighter shade of red than the other, but other than that, they are identical. I'm sure nobody would notice that the hat is slightly lighter, espcially since they won't see the other one to compare it with.

We leaving Sunday for Las Vegas. We'll see what happens from there!:)

You need to draw a dead body chalk line around him. :lmao:
