Lets go to Disney #AGAIN! {and other annoying #Hashtags} A September 2016 Pre Trip Report

Does anyone else get the Beach Boys' song stuck in their head whenever anyone talks about CBR? :rotfl:

"Aruba, Jamaica, oooh I wanna take ya to Bermuda, Bahamas, come on pretty mama..."

Hey yall! I'm BACK from a week in paradise! Literally I want to move to Madeira Beach which is 90 minutes from Orlando and about 10 minutes from Clearwater , and about 5 minutes from St. Petersburg. The weather was perfect, the water was GORGEOUS, and we had a blast snorkeling, dolphin watching, boating, shopping, suntanning, seashell hunting, and eating. Our condo that we rented was beachfront and had 2 bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, and a huge balcony. It was perfection!

Here are a few shots of our 8 days on the Gulf of Mexico:

Now its time to start thinking about our Disney World Vacation which is in only 32 days!!! #OMG

We came from from vacation... ***which by the way we were only 90 minutes away from Disney, yet we refrained from visiting Orlando during our trip***... anyway we came home on Saturday and we had DISNEY MAIL in our mailbox! We received our YELLOW LUGGAGE TAGS !!!!!!! Can you believe it? We are so close!!! We will be riding in style on the Magical Express before you know it! #MagicalExpressIsMyFavorite

I havn't done any more planning yet, but I will be ramping that up this week. I think I may even start to pack. #OCD

Is 30 days before we leave too early to start packing????? #CrazyLady

I hope that you all are having a great summer... and I hope that you are still reading my pre-trip report! #Hellooooo?

I don't think I would've been able to refrain for going to Disney :rotfl: But it looks beautiful there!

I've already started packing and we're only at 44 days. #werebothcrazydisneyladies :thumbsup2

Ok, so now that I got that little bit of excitement out of the way... I can now proceed with my update. #UpdateAlert

:rainbow:

Yesterday at our 30 day mark, I decided to try out a DisBoards popular service called "Garden Grocer". I have never used this service or ANY type of delivery service in all of my trips to WDW. #FirstTimeForEverything Basically Garden Grocer is a cool thing where you place an online order for all things that you can possibly find in a Grocery Store including toiletries, fresh fruits, cases of sodas and bottled water, chips, frozen foods, and even beer!

gg.jpg

Basically its like a virtual shopping trip where they show you the pictures of each item with the price, and you just CLICK and it adds directly to your shopping cart like Amazon or any other online store.

gg2.png

When I logged onto the page just being curious, there was a message stating that if you place an order 60 days in advance you get 7% off of your order, and if you place your order 30 days in advance you get 5% off of your order. #LoveToSaveMoney So it was by sheer luck that I happened to look at this website exactly on our 30 day mark and was able to receive a discount! #WoooooooooooooooooooooHoooooooooooooooooooooo

woohoo.png

So, I forgot to mention why we even were looking into a grocery delivery service... #Derp Being newly diagnosed with a Gluten Free intolerance, and since this is our first trip to WDW since this diagnosis, I wanted to make sure that I had some convenient Gluten Free granola bars for me to carry in my purse. #SnackAttack

gf.jpg

We will have the Disney Dining Plan which covers 2 meals per day: 1 Table Service Meal and 1 Quick Service Meal. Generally we use those DDP meal credits for Lunch and Dinner each day and we normally grab breakfast of bagels and muffins in the Food Court of the Disney Resort that we are staying at and sometimes using our DDP SNACK CREDITS. My husband and I were discussing saving a bit of money this trip by getting our morning coffees at the food court with our Disney Refillable mugs and then eating granola bars and fruit instead of food court food. This way we can actually use our DDP snack credits for SNACKS instead of breakfast items! #WeAreSmart

snack.jpg

We ended up placing a small order with Garden Grocer to TRY them out and to see how this all works! Basically I clicked on the Breakfast Items tab, the Fresh Fruit tab, and the Gluten Free search for our items. #EasyPeasy We ended up ordering:

8 Bananas
6 Fuji Apples
1 Box of Kashi Bars
1 Box of Natures Valley Peanut Butter Granola Bars
4 Bakery Fresh Blueberry Muffins
1 Box of Enjoy Life Sunbutter Crunch Bars
1 Box of Glutino Gluten Free Apple CinnamonToaster Pastries
1 Bottle of International Delight French Vanilla Coffee Creamer

gra.jpg

I entered my resort that we are staying at, and what time frame that we would like our food delivered. I then entered my Credit Card information and I was finished. Literally it was super easy!

yay.jpg
The cool thing is that about 2 minutes after I placed my order, I received a real Telephone Call from Garden Grocer to confirm my order AND to let me know that they will deliver my order to Caribbean Beach Resort between 8am and 12am on our arrival date and our resort will keep it refrigerated for me. #VERYImpressive I love good customer service!

service.jpg

So, I am very interested to see how this service works out.... AND if our order comes in complete. We do have 2 Breakfasts at WDW resorts schedule for our 8 days (Ohana and Tusker House), but it will also be interesting to see how well the granola bar and fruit eating goes for us! I think that it will also allow us to sleep in a little bit longer because we will be able to eat at the bus stop each morning :rolleyes1

Has anyone else used a grocery delivery service before? If so, what types of items did you buy?

What a coincidence to have found this thread. We are also staying at CBR (Aug 30- Sept 10) It will be my DH, and 2 DS (13,9) We can't wait! Our bands arrived yesterday!!!! Anyways......
We have used garden grocer a few times - we love it! They will hold our order til we arrive and keep cold stuff cold and deliver to room once we check in. We usually order fruit, light breakfast foods, a few snacks, and beverages. I was able to order and get the discount this year too - bonus :) hope you have a very magical trip!

Thank you for reading my pre trip report! #NewFriendAlert

Thank you so much for the lobster bisque recommendation! As a former New Englander, I LOVE seafood.

I hope that you make it to Rope Drop on your next trip! It is so hard to wake up in the morning so early on vacation, but once you are finally in the park its #WorthIt !!

Thanks for creating one! LOL. I love reading PTRs leading up to my trip. I like seeing what other people are doing too, especially when we have many things in common for our trips haha.
Oh good, I hope you enjoy the lobster bisque if you decided to get it...and if not then... well... they must have changed the recipe since I had it!

I would love to make rope drop, but we seem to have very late nights in the parks, so I'm not sure it will ever happen. But there is always Disney magic haha.

Your trip looked awesome. I love beach vacations! I can only imagine how hard it was to be so close to Disney and not go haha.

Garden Grocer sounds like a great idea. I always think I should do that and order a case of water for the room. I just don't like Desani water, I find it has an odd taste. I wonder if it is the salt in it.

You have made the 30 day mark!!!:yay: It's right around the corner now!!!!

#AlsoPackingPanic!!!

As I was unpacking from this vacation, I thought I should just turn around and pack for my Disney trip. But then I calmed myself down and decided I would pack later this month. Then I got panicky this morning and decided I would start packing little things this week. We'll see what I feel like when I get home! #It'saRollercoaster

Sounds like an awesome beach vacation! Now you don't have to sacrifice any Disney time for beach time.

We plan on stopping at Target or Publix when we get down there (yay rental car!) and getting some GF/DF stuff for Mom and GF stuff for me. It's the tapioca that my mom can't have that kills most of the GF/DF options because tapioca is a great gluten substitute.

I forget - are you going to be decorating your MBs???

Hello to you all and Welcome to my Pre Trip Report! :welcome:

Please be patient with my pre trip report... I am not the most eloquent writer. I wanted to share with you our plans for our upcoming trip! #ICanDoThis. I hope that some of you will read my report and maybe even subscribe! If you do.... #ThankYou!

This September will be my 16th vacation to the Happiest Place On Earth and I'm so excited! We were very fortunate to be able to spend the week of Christmas at WDW this past December, and we had the absolute most MAGICAL Christmas I've ever experienced. However, 2 months after our Christmas trip, while still being deep in post Disney Blues, I asked my husband if we should book another trip for this September, he said "SURE, why not!!" #MatchMadeInHeaven

My name is Aimee, and I have a serious love for all things Disney. Seriously. I love all things Disney. If I could live / work / eat / sleep on Main Street USA, I would be the happiest person in the world. I have 2 sons who are ages 13 and 20. However, for this vacation in September, my oldest son will unfortunately not be joining us. Instead my traveling companions will be my husband, my 13 year old son, and my father who normally also joins us in WDW because he probably loves Disney as much as I do.

My husband and I are super dorks... like we love to act silly and we may or may not have tried to Drink Around The World at EPCOT more than once. #FailedMiserably #WeWontBeDefeated

Here is a photo of my husband and I at Halloween 2 years ago:

My dad loves all WDW resorts, but especially Port Orleans French Quarter! #POFQLove

For this trip in September, we have lots of plans, and ADR's and we just booked our FP+ 2 days ago... so I have so much to tell you all!

If you are still reading this.... THANK YOU! I will hopefully be updating this frequently over the next 58 days until our trip. Oh... I forgot to tell you all the details!! #Ooooooops

When: September 3 thru 10, 2016
Where: Caribbean Beach Resort
Who: Myself (Aimee), my husband (Kevin), my 13 yr old son (Ethan), and my crazy father (Rob)
Why: Because we need to try to drink around the world again!
Another reason why: Because we LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Walt Disney World!

I hope to hear from some of you, and please ask any questions that you might have! #TillNextTime

Also.... Let me know if you are going to be in WDW while we are there!

Y'all are super cute in your costumes! And we'll be there the same week, also at CBR! Hooray!

Catching up on your other posts now...

I don't think I would've been able to refrain for going to Disney :rotfl: But it looks beautiful there!

I've already started packing and we're only at 44 days. #werebothcrazydisneyladies :thumbsup2

Omgosh, yes it was so so so so pretty in Madeira Beach.... I think everyone should go at least once! #RoadTrip :rolleyes1

Thats super coincidental that we will be at CBR the same exact time, and my son is ALSO 13 years old! If you see us at the pool, you will have to wave at us or pull up a chair and say HI! :yay:

Rope drop is definitely hard to make each day, but luckily for me my internal alarm clock wakes me up at 6am each morning no matter what. #ItsAwful You never know, like you mentioned the Disney Magic may work for you and get you there! My experience SO FAR with Garden Grocer has been super easy... hopefully my order is waiting for me when I get here haha.

I just read your trip report and it looks like you had a fabulous time on vacation!!! We did have a great time at the beach, and I find myself wishing I was back there... #TakeMeBaaaaack

I'm not familiar with the Tapioca allergy... I feel sad for your mom because I know how difficult it is to just have the dairy and gluten intolerance. #Boooo I hope that your mom finds a lot of delicious foods in WDW so that she doesn't feel like shes missing out on anything.

I'm not decorating my magic bands... I'm not even sure how to. Are you? if so... how? What am I missing??? This sounds FUN!!! #ArtsAndCrafts :yay:

Joining in on your Pre-Trip fun! Loving the report so far! :goodvibes

Has anyone here eaten at Chef's de France? This is a very exciting one for me, as I've been wanting to eat here for years. #FeelingAdventurous

YES! We love Chef's de France. Some of our best Disney meals have been there. One time we had an incident where my younger brother was basically assaulted by another guest who was "pranking" people and filming it to post on the internet. Security was called, and in all the chaos of filling out an incident report and such, we ended up missing our ADR, which was awful because it was my aunt and uncle's anniversary. Disney stepped in and got us a table at Chefs de France, even though it was totally booked, and we had an AMAZING meal there, at a table right next to the front window. We were actually the last people to leave the restaurant that night, and I just remember the staff was incredible to us the entire meal. One of my favorite Disney memories!!! :goodvibes

According to Vacation Countdown App on my phone, we have 45 more days to go until we fly to Orlando and check into the beautiful Caribbean Beach Resort for our next Walt Disney World Vacation! It seems like such a LOOOOONG way away and I am getting very impatient. #CantWaitToSeeMickey

On a #BrighterNote we leave this Saturday for our #Summer Vacation! We have rented a 2 bedroom, 980.0 sf condo at Madeira Beach in Florida. The photos of the condo online look absolutely terrific with a full kitchen complete with granite countertops, dining room, living room, 2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 bathrooms, and a fabulous beach front balcony overlooking the tropical looking beach. #Paradise

The location of Madeira Beach is right in between Clearwater and St. Petersburg on the Gulf Side of Florida. We decided to go to someplace new for summer vacation this year and we somehow chose Madeira Beach! It looks absolutely gorgeous and it is very convenient to a lot of fun things to do. We are super beachy people who will sit on the sand in our chairs and read a book ALL DAY long while sipping a cold beverage! #VacationMode

This is Madeira Beach Florida:

Madeira Beach is a teeny tiny strip of land with white powdery sand and clear turquoise waters.

This is the view from our condo as shown on the website that we booked from:

View attachment 182928

When my family goes to the beach, we ONLY stay at Madeira Beach/Treasure Island with occasional side trips to Clearwater. It's our 2nd favorite place in the world (after Disney, of course :thumbsup2). In fact, looking at that picture, I think we might have even stayed in that condo complex before. :rotfl: Love it there! :beach:I'm happy to hear you had such an awesome trip!!!

Today is a very special and important day because... I did our online check-in for our fabulous September Caribbean Beach Resort stay! #BOOM!

For our 2 requests, I chose:
1. Martinique Village
2. Ground Floor

View attachment 183087

We shall see if Disney grants us with both requests, or 1 of these requests, or if they stick us out in the middle of nowhere with nothing but a tent and sleeping bags.

View attachment 183088

I will be sure to keep you all posted! #MartiniquePlease

Thank you for reading! #YouRawk

Keeping my fingers crossed for Martinique for you! :goodvibes

We did ours yesterday! I requested Aruba near transportation. #hopethatwasagoodcall #ilikethearubabuildingbecauseitspink :rotfl:

We LOVE Aruba. It's the best pick if you don't book Preferred. :thumbsup2

Does anyone else get the Beach Boys' song stuck in their head whenever anyone talks about CBR? :rotfl:

Ummmmm yes. Every time. :cool1::rotfl:

We may have to try this this time! We always drive down so we usually bring our own bottled water and some snacks for late night munching, but it's a real pain to lug 24 packs of water to the room along with all of our luggage. It'd be totally worth it to have it delivered. Lol.

Can't wait to read more! You're getting so close! :cheer2:

HI!!!! Thank you for joining me along on all of my pre trip reporting!

I literally read, and then re-read your comment about the 'pranking' incident at WDW. I'm shocked! Who and why in the world would someone do that?!?! I'm just so shocked and I'm seriously hoping that it was a CHILD who was doing this, because I can't imagine an adult being so disrespectful. However, I am really glad that Disney tried to make it up to you in the form of a good meal at Chefs De France. #WayToGoDisney!

Thats so awesome that your family also goes to Madeira Beach / Treasure Island. It is SO SO SO SO gorgeous there and I wish that I could go back about every 5 minutes or so. :jumping1: The Condo Complex that we stayed at was called Madeira Norte and is directly across the street from Johns Pass #PERFECTION!!

Brief Real World Update: Today is Wednesday and I have been in Washington DC for a work conference since SATURDAY. I'm exhausted and my brain hurts. It has been very long days, and difficult nights because the air conditioner here is very LOUD and its been waking me up a few times per night since I've been here. However, an interesting tidbit is that this hotel, The Washington Hilton, is the same one that Ronald Reagan was shot during the attempted assignation in 1981. The actual spot outside has a plaque describing the incident. This spot is literally right outside of the conference rooms that I have been having sessions in each day.

reagan.jpg

Today is my last day at the conference ( #Thankfully) , and I will be riding the Amtrak Train home later this evening back home. My brain is mush, and I'm ready to be home in my own bed.

Disney Vacation planning will commence tomorrow. I need to start going through my lists at home to make sure that we have everything that we will need.

24 Days to go!!!!!

#MagicBandDecorating!!

Here is a thread where people have posted their recreations on the DIS: http://www.disboards.com/threads/ha...ic-bands-please-show-us-the-pictures.3190181/

This time around, we got free Magic Your Band "stickers" from our DVC rental broker so we are going with them. They have customization options so you can create your own. They are about $6-$8 per skin. They are removeable and reuseable as long as you keep them nice and keep the backing that they come on. This is my first time using them so I'm really curious how they will turn out. I'm kind of on the fence about how they look. But #easy!

Last trip, we all decorated our bands with paint pens or sharpies and then brushed over it with top coat nail polish. It worked pretty well. People talked about the nail polish cracking. We didn't have that problem. I used OPI top coat. I dabbed instead of rubbing. Rubbing made my tiger stripes smear. After a hot and sweaty trip to Disney, our bands held up well; they were worn a bit where they clasped on our wrists from rubbing against our clothes, bags, etc but we expected that. The tops still looked great, though! And at the end of the week, we didn't care.

Here is our final product:

P1030298.jpg

Mine was the orange tiger stripes. Because we were staying at AKL. We got white and black paint pens from JoAnn fabric using two 40% off coupons (there were two of us going through the line). We used a thin black sharpie to color in the Mickey heads on the front. I like to do this to all my MBs regardless of whether or not I'm decorating them. (As you can see, my dad was a party pooper and he didn't want any decorations on his gray band.) My sister (yellow) used a sharpie to create the birds. My other sister had a pink MB and used painter's tape to mark out the triangles for the argyle look. She did the black triangles in black paint pen, then the white paint pen for the dotted lines. She also used silver nail polish for her Mickey head.

We felt extra special with our decorated bands and we got lots of compliments!

#CaptainPlanetHesOurHero Anyone remember that old cartoon? That's what this pic reminds me of. Our MBs look really shiny in this pic but they weren't that shiny in person.

I am #Speechless !! Wow! Your Magic Bands look SO SO SO SO SO GREAT! How fancy and schmancy! Thank you so very much for taking the time to explain this process to me.... I really am not artsy, but this seems like something that I could totally do! I love your Tiger striped one the best :rolleyes1

Happy Thursday, and Holy Moly... I have only 23 Days left to go until Disney! #HappyDance

So, yesterday I left off telling you all that I was in Washington DC for a 5 day work conference, and that I was riding the Amtrak Train home last night. Well, the train was delayed an hour and I didn't get home until 10:00pm. I was utterly exhausted and #MissCrankyPants until I walked into the kitchen and saw a box on the counter that my husband didn't tell me had arrived.

Can anyone guess what was inside of the box? #1MillionDollars? #ANewKitten?

This beautiful sight was inside of the box:

This literally made my entire day! I also like how the new luggage tags match the magic bands. The sad thing is that I literally already have 3 Pink magic bands, and this will be my 4th. I always say I will switch to another color, but I never do. #ItsTradition

My question for ALL OF YOU.... if there are any of you still reading (LOL) is : Do you change up the color of your magic bands each time that you visit? Or do you normally stick with the same color each time?

My boyfriend refuses to get any color other than red, :rotfl:but I get different colors each time. I've had pink and now purple, and I bought an Xmas MB for Christmas.

It sounds like you will have quite the collection!! I do like the shade of purple that they chose for the new color. Its very URSULA and I love it! :Pinkbounc
