Let the memories (of our May 2011 trip) begin! *UPDATED SEPT. 18th- LINK to NEW TR!*

Lucky girl!!!

How was Disneyland? It's my dream... but I am not complaining about going to WDW every year though... I wouldn't change that ;)

Day 6- Tuesday- May, 17th 2011- Morning at Magic Kingdom (again).

By this point we had already spent two half days at MK and we were ready to hit the park again.

I have to admit I enjoyed this arrangement a little more than spending only one big, long day at this park. There are a lot of rides that are age appropriate to Beatriz so three half days worked out beautifully for us.

And after you have done rope drop once you know there is no other way to go so we woke up early and made sure we were there before opening time. Our alarm clock rang at 7am, we had our cheese danishes and coffee while standing in line for the bus and before you know it we were ready for rope drop!

Notice that Beatriz is wearing her Rapunzel dress and even has her hair down . The whole week we had been working her up to the fact that she was going to meet Rapunzel and Flynn and she was extremely excited about that. She LOVES Rapunzel and could barely contain her excitement.

So as soon as the gates opened we walked straight to the Fairytale garden so we could do the Tangled meet and greet. However, apparently we were not fast enough because there was ALREADY a huge line up.

Where did al those people come from????:scared1:

My only explanation is that they got in the park earlier maybe through ADR's at Crystal Palace or the Royal Table. Let's just say I was not happy to realize I got out-planned:headache:.

We immediately got in line and a CM came to tell us that we were going to be part of the 11 o'clock group. And I was like WHAT?????

TWO HOURS WAIT TO GREET A CHARACTER???

Not worth it. :sad2: Let's get out of here. We only had one last morning at MK and I did not want to "waste it" in one line.

That was when Joey told me that we had promised Rapunzel so we should deliver Rapunzel and that I should go ahead and do a couple of rides with Beatriz and he was going to wait in line.

Now I might be wrong but I don't know too many dads that would volunteer to do that so I was in awe and even tried to talk him out of it but he insisted. :rolleyes1

He said he had his phone with Internet connection so he was going to be just fine.

So Beatriz and I took off and went to do Dumbo (the only ride left to do in Fantasyland). The waiting time was 35 minutes so we stayed. It is not like the line was going to get any shorter as the morning went on.

As I said before, I am so happy they are re imagining this queue area. It is brutal. I did my best to keep Beatriz distracted while we waited by taking some pictures.

Here is my very own Stitch:

393417_2867918414043_1142283436_3187840_1474520477_n.jpg

And then it is finally our turn:

394119_2867918934056_1142283436_3187841_1941580159_n.jpg

388077_2867919214063_1142283436_3187842_562401245_n.jpg

The ride was a success this time. :cheer2: She let me control our elephant and we flew high the whole time.

374852_2867920934106_1142283436_3187847_307147776_n.jpg

SO after our Dumbo ride we went to check up on Joey and I offered to trade places with him but he said he was fine. That I should just go do something else with her.

Ok then...

So I decided to cross to Adventureland and maybe try to do the Jungle Cruise but we actually got side tracked by something we saw on the way:

The Main Street performers were doing their little show ("I am walking right down the middle of Main Street USA") and Beatriz was loving it!

390983_2867922774152_1142283436_3187852_1572105197_n.jpg

Once they were done she asked to see them again so we followed them up the street until they started over. They actually work Main Street from the castle up (towards the entrance) so they always catch a fresh audience as they go along.

So we followed them along and watched the show not once, not twice but three times and at the end Beatriz even got some love from one of the performers:

After that we just looked at some shops on Main Street and then we decided to join daddy and wait the last half an hour with him.

Soon enough it was finally our tur to see Rapunzel.

Did it live up to our expectations??

Day 6- Tuesday- May 17th 2011-Toy Story Mania has gotten nothing on Rapunzel.

So after waiting for two hours we finally made into the Fairytale Garden to meet Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder. Before the characters come out there is a little celebration for the kids.

It starts with a coloring session:

While the kids were coloring and waiting for the dancing part of the celebration the parents got in the actual line to meet up the characters. The whole thing started to take a little long and Beatriz started feeling a little lonely:

A couple of minutes later the CM's come out and do the little dance just like in the festival scene of the movie and then the kids are invited to join their parents in line.

Next we are instructed to call out Rapunzel by saying "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!" and FINALLY she shows up.

Here is Beatriz' reaction when she first saw Rapunzel:

At last!

They sign the autograph book:

Rapunzel notices Bea's dress:

Beatriz had practiced singing the theme song of the movie for weeks. She had said she wanted to sing it to Rapunzel and Flynn so I reminded her of that but she got shy and refused to sing.

381083_2867999896080_1142283436_3187976_1807742975_n.jpg

Flynn Ryder tried to help and started singing it himself but she did not have it. :rolleyes1

383901_2867999416068_1142283436_3187974_572906484_n.jpg

Maybe next time.

Time for one more picture:

375347_2868000776102_1142283436_3187979_171573729_n.jpg

And we are off!

So was it worth it?

I guess you can say it was because Beatriz was extremely happy but the two hour wait was just too much for a character meeting. I hope they start allowing Rapunzel to make other appearances soon (maybe at a character meal like Akershus) because they totally kept us hostage. :rotfl:

Next up:
Lunch at Whispering Canyon.

Yeah, Joey!!! What a hero- taking one for the team in a 2 hour line. That really is crazy!

But the smile on her face and the incredible pictures you got must have made it worth the trouble.

That's great that she loved the Main Street singers so much.

Day 6- Tuesday, May 17th 2011- Dole whips, whispering canyons and water parks....

So by now it was 11h30am and we had reservations for lunch at Whispering Canyon. Our last morning at MK passed so fast and that is when it hit me our vacation was coming to an end. So before we left, I decided we should run to Adventureland and have a dole whip even though we were about to go eat.

385065_2867923894180_1142283436_3187855_423851175_n.jpg

The sun was shining and there was no line up for dole whips yet so the moment felt perfect!

On a glee:

389451_2867924854204_1142283436_3187857_2036124416_n.jpg

Beatriz loved it too:
382860_2867924414193_1142283436_3187856_745147590_n.jpg

Time to take the boat to Wilderness Lodge. But not before one last picture in front of the castle:

393916_2868004816203_1142283436_3187997_793888358_n.jpg

There was a boat just about to leave so we did not have to wait AT ALL. We ended up getting to Whispering Canyon quite early but we had no problem getting a table.

386659_2868006136236_1142283436_3188002_190607580_n.jpg

We ordered the skillet and it was A-MA-ZING!!!

381785_2867925414218_1142283436_3187858_1495341363_n.jpg

The BBQ family style totally hit the spot and we loved our meal. It became one of my favorite meals of the trip.

For dessert I ordered the s'mores cheesecake but I was too full to finish it. The dole whip plus the meal plus the dessert was just more food than I could handle. I had all the intention in the world to order one of their famous milkshakes but just could not bring myself to do it.

384809_2867926014233_1142283436_3187860_2144883398_n.jpg

Beatriz also had a great time doing the horse race and running around the restaurant. We had heard about the rowdy servers at Whispering canyon but things were pretty calm when we were there. I guess they kick it up a notch in the evening. :confused3

So after our meal we had the choice of going back to MK but I was dying to try a water park. The whole week I was waiting for the sun and the humidity to come back so we could make our way to Typhoon Lagoon and we decided that this was going to be our only chance.

I had brought our bathing suits in our backpacks so we changed in the restroom at Wilderness Lodge's lobby and headed to the bus stop. But not before running around the lobby for a while and a family picture....

Next up:
Typhoon Lagoon

Happy New Year, Queila, Joey and Beatriz!!!

Hope your holidays were great!

Enjoyed your update.

I can't say I blame you about the Dole Whip. The time between trips to Disney can be a long wait for that treat!

Your lunch at WCC sounds really good! And the smores cheesecake is making me drool!!!! You must have been STUFFED to pass that up. We have never eaten at WCC (or been to the Wilderness Lodge for that matter). My husband and I wanted to go and check it out on our last trip, but the boys were not hearing any of that.

I'm looking forward to hearing about your afternoon at Typhoon Lagoon. My son Ben and I did that on the last afternoon of our last Disney trip. My husband and Nate opted to go to the MK one final time, instead.

Happy New Year, you guys! Hope this one will be as magical and as disney-filled as the last (:

Oooo... Dole Whip! I'm still on edge about this. Are they really extremely pineapple-y or are they not? Because I'm just not a fan of pineapple, it makes me gag but these just sound SOOO good. I would just like to know what I'm getting myself into, but if you all liked it, maybe I'll just go out on a limb for that one :D

Oh my gosh, talk about a foody chapter. Whispering Canyon sounds so good! That Skillet looks so ridiculously delectable! Especially those ribs smothered in BBQ sauce, mmmm... YUM! And your dessert looks just as good, anything 'Smores related has to be good ::yes::

Can't wait to read about your adventures at Typhoon Lagoon! :mickeyjum

The dole whip and WCC look very yummy. It is always so hard to find room for the foods I want to try at Disney. I would love to try the milkshakes there too but with the skillet and dessert, I dont think I could manage it either.

I can't wait to see how you time at TL is. We have only been to Blizzard Beach so far. I always say we will make it to TL but we never do.

I'm enjoying reading your trip report. We have birthday dinner booked at WCC so was great to hear that the food was delicious!

Thank you Dee. You should definitely try to include WCC on your next trip. The food is yummy and the hotel is beautiful. The little boat ride is nice and relaxing too!

Hmmm... I think if you don't like pineapple you should ask to taste someone else's dole whip before ordering one for yourself. You can definitely taste the pineapple juice specially on the float. I wonder if you could maybe ask the CM from Aloha Isle for a little taste before ordering one.

Looking forward to reading about Typhoon Lagoon!

:) Up next.

WCC was amazing. Perfect comfort food! I need more time at Disney just so I can eat everything I want to!

I had been to BB in 1996 but never to TL so I was very happy we got the chance of doing it.

I'm enjoying reading your trip report. We have birthday dinner booked at WCC so was great to hear that the food was delicious!

Hello and :welcome: I am sure you guys are going to like WCC. Tasty and plenty!

Sorry for my long absence. I realize I should just finish this TR already but I guess the "stretching" of my story is a coping mechanism to help me deal with my Disney blues. ;)

We are in Brazil right now. I am having a great time visiting friends and family and soaking some tropical sun. Beatriz is loving the experience and I think she will remember this trip for a long time.

The good news is that I did my first round of artificial insemination on Jan. 1st and... it worked! :) I went from being cautiously optimistic to being cautiously happy. The viability ultrasound is scheduled to Feb. 9th and we are hoping for good news.

If everything is well with the pregnancy we MIGHT be able to squeeze a Disney trip in May again. We will see....

In the meantime, I am enjoying the time left with my parents here in Brazil.

Have a great week everyone!
Q

Queila- - wishing you the best. As you may recall, I mentioned that Nate was an AI baby- first try for us also. I remember going for the ultrasound- mine was on the day after the McCoy septuplets were born.

Thinking happy thoughts for you!

Dee

Congrats on the pregnancy! I have a friend who went through IVF and is now the mom of a little 7 months girl so I understand the "cautiously happy". :)

ok it seems I'm behind and only on page 8. Oops lol

Have you been enjoying the weather we've been getting? Let's just say that the kids on the south shore can't wait for a snow day.... and the teachers too lol

Kouzzina seems like a lovely restaurant. I'd love to try it but it's not my family's kind of food. OH well.

So happy to hear your good news. How wonderful for you. Keep us posted on your progress and any upcoming Disney trips you might have. Now that you will be a family of four, you need to consider DVC :goodvibes
