Let the Memories Begin--A Mother/Son Adventure of a Lifetime!-update 8/6-17 the end!

Good luck with the issue of your neck. I second opinion never hurts.

Those KP missions are very popular. We never did them as my "boys" are adults so it never appealed to them.

We love the IG also. It is so great walking in that way (and going back "home" that way).

Jeremy's shirt was so cute!! Too bad it is too small.:sad2:

Cannot wait to hear what ride he rode.

You should try the new Agent P missions. You are never too old for them!!! I actually enjoyed it and it is neat to see all the stuf that comes to life with them.

I was bummed about the shirt. I sort of wish I got myself one. I am the worst about buying things for myself. :confused3

You will never guess the ride! You have to think outside the box or park to figure it out. I am going to update later today but won't get to that. We had quite the night last night so I didn't get home until late so no pictures got loaded. :confused3

I wish! No, it's a Carnival cruise. My hope is that Don is able to see how superior Disney cruises are afterwards :rolleyes1

Where are you going? Anxious to see if you like it. Our local Farm Bureau does a Carnival cruise each December for a week. It is very cheap to members. Tom and I say that when Jeremy is older and we are home alone we want to try it. Not so much for the fact that it is a Carnival Cruise (I would much prefer Disney) but the fact that so many friends go and that would be fun.

You sly dog. ;)

I like her way of thinking, don't you!!! ;)

Well, the ports of call aren't the greatest, but we are going with our best friends and this was the only week that worked for all of us between work and baseball/football for our kids. It's 7 nights out of New Orleans (nice because we can drive!) and has port stops in Key West, Freeport & Nassau.

I think it sounds like fun!!! We love New Orleans. Have you been? Such a neat town. Hope you have a great trip!!!

I am going to try and get another update in today. I had one ready yesterday and lost it. :confused3 So frustrating.

I will still have about one or two more after this one. I don't have all my photos loaded. Plans were to do that last night. Tom had his cub scout den meeting. Our scouts are building a bridge for a place we use a lot for camping so he and two other dads had to meet with someone there. I got stuck doing the meeting and wouldn't you know that the one meeting I am there with only the moms, a scout falls out of their chair and hits their mouth on the edge of the table. :scared1: To say it was a bloody mess was an understatement. And of course, this scout's parent is with Tom. So, I rush him home to his mother and we ended up in the ER most of the night. He is fine and no stitches, thank goodness. It was just another eventful night with nothing getting done at my house----story of my life!!!

So, after Jeremy and I had enjoyed the monorail resort decorations and avoided the rain, we got off at the MK and took the bus back to the BW. We showered and got ready for a night of lights.

This is off the porch of the BW looking at the Boardwalk.

We were heading to see the Osborne Lights. However, I think we stopped to see the Muppets on the way. I am pretty sure this picture was on the way before we actually got on the Streets of America.

100_0945.jpg

I have seen the lights before, but oh my. They are stunning in LED.

So, we were in the back area. I think that maybe the stunt show is back there. Jeremy notices something and gets all excited. It is at this point that my son is a pure Disney geek like me (I  it!). Off to the side in an area closed off by gates/fence (it could be the stunt show) there is a camera crew filming someone. Jeremy is super excited and I got a little excited too I must admit. It was the guy in charge of the lights (you know the one that is on tv, older gentleman, white hair, glasses). We just stood back and watched for a while. Never took pictures (I am not that geeky!). Not sure what it was he was filming but it was just him doing all the talking. Okay, on with the lights.

Do you notice the solid white angel? It was put there in remembrance of Jennings Osborne who passed away this past year.

Jeremy is showing off his new glow in the dark light I bought him. He was pretty good this trip not asking for things so I had no problem getting it for him when he asked.

100_0971.jpg

A glimpse of the black cat. He was well hidden this year. I had a lot of people ask me what I was trying to take a picture of. Once I told them, they were taking pictures too.

holy mother of updates. WOW!

Ok, I have to go back.

Glad everything is ok but I have to admit, I'm with Tom on this one...get it taken care of. But by all means, get a 2nd opinion!

I love that Jeremy got so much wear of those ears and love the boardwalk tee!

Ah the lights...someday!!!

I loved the images they had in these windows.

100_0991.jpg

100_0992.jpg

They had a thing set up which told the story of the Osborne Lights. I don't remember this in the past so it could have been due to the passing of Jennings Osborne. I really can't remember right now.

Jeremy and I had such a wonderful time at the lights. We enjoyed every moment of them. We took our time looking at every thing, watching it snow, and we even enjoyed some caramel corn in the Mickey Snowman souvenir bucket. It was such a wonderful time--probably one of my favorite parts of the trip.

We hit the Muppets one more time and grabbed some supper at ABC Commissary before calling it a night. I had hoped to do Fantasmic but we were starting to wear down so we took the boat back to the Boardwalk. Actually, I think we took it to the Swolphin and walked over. If you ever stay at the BW, it is a quick walk to the BW so we would get off a lot to do that on the buses and the boats. I liked walking the Boardwalk too. Lots of neat things going on there at night.

The next morning was our last day and we were heading to AK. But first, bad news had arrived at the door.

100_1002.jpg

Up next:

Will we finally spend a lot of time in the AK?

No one has tried to guess what we rode that scared me to death but Jeremy loved it. It is not the ToT but goes high. The door does not appear to lock on the ride. I felt like I was "caged" in. Any guesses????

What did my son get me for Christmas?

Will our luggage be under 50 pounds?

The trip ends just at it began.............................................

Preview of the Spring Trip:

It's Official --- I am a Disney Dork!!!! DH finally figured that out. What happened to give me that title and why did I cry my eyes out?

The ride I loved and hated all in one!

Oh no, is it Bed Bugs or Sand Fleas!!! :confused3

What rides do Jeremy ride 8 times in a row---there are two of them!!!

Plus much more fun and memories!

Ah the lights...someday!!!

Photo bucket is cooperating so I have been on a roll!!!

I have the EMG tomorrow so I should know more by the end of the week. There have been some really rough days lately so I am up for anything right now to get some relief.

The lights are stunning!!! You have to see them someday. It literally takes your breath away. Such a good feeling.

Hopefully I will get to see the lights someday. With my work schedule it is really tough.

How nice that they had a white angel.:goodvibes

I love that Mickey that Jeremy got that lights up. I have seen them & thought they were really cute.

I cannot imagine what ride you are talking about that made you feel "caged in". I am thinking.........the balloon at DTD?? I wouldn't think you would fee caged in but I cannot think of something else that goes high.

The cub scout story sounds so scary.

Wow those lights look so amazing!!!

What a fun evening you two had. :sad2: about your mail the next morning

I can't wait to see if you spend a lot of time in AK

And the only guess I have for the ride that scared you, is the balloon in DTD

I love those Osborne Lights! :cloud9:

I didn't know about the white angel... thanks for sharing that tidbit!

I think it sounds like fun!!! We love New Orleans. Have you been? Such a neat town. Hope you have a great trip!!!

Thanks! I have been to NOLA once for a football game and we stayed in the French Quarter. I honestly didn't care for it that much, but will say that my opinion was tainted by how horribly we were treated by the LSU fans......

Don has been many times for work and he likes it. We won't have a ton of time before the cruise, but plan on eating at Bubba Gump the night before and then going to Cafe du Monde for breakfast before boarding the ship.

I'm loving all of your pictures of the Osborne Lights! The night that we saw them it was so crowded that I really didn't get to explore them as much as I would have liked.

Funny that Jeremy is smiling holding that awful booklet that tells you to go home, it always makes me want to cry

I'm at a loss for what ride scared you, I think the others guess of the balloon at DTD is a good one though!

Loved all your pics of Osborne Lights! I wish I would've known about the white angel. We were there after Christmas and I could've impressed my group with that knowledge! I also could've paid a moment of respect to Mr. Osborne.

Jeremy was loving his Mickey light, you can totally tell! It is such a pleasure buying things for your kids when they aren't asking for them.

I was going to say "Primevil Whirl" scared you to death... but I saw someone else guess the "Characters in Flight" balloon and that also sounds right. Can't wait to hear about your scary experience!

Beautiful Osbourne Lights. You really did a great job picking up all the details. I think the bicycles are my favorite.

Jeremy's light is pretty cool. I want one. :rotfl:

I see there are some interesting updates ahead. Looking forward to them.

The displays were incredible with the new kind of lighting. ::yes::
Taking your time absorbing it all sounds like a very sweet and special mother-son evening.

Animal Kingdom fun ahead! :cool1:

I didn't see all the details on the ride that scared you - what park, etc. My thought on the two hints I did see - goes high and caged in - was Sum of all Thrills.

:yay:You are right---it is the balloon at DTD!!! You are basicly in a cage (that is unlocked I might add). Hope to update soon with all the detail!!

Hope you get to see the lights some day---they are spectacular.

The cub scout story sounds so scary.

The cub scout is fine but made for a stressful evening. Tom and I talked with our representative at council and got so frustrated. If you don't have insurance, the council has insurance to pay the medical bill. If you do, they will pay whatever is left unless it is the upfront copay---makes no sense. The family was out $125. :sad2:

I hate when those Magical Express packages arrive on the door. It all feels so final. That is the only plus to driving (in my opinion) is that you don't get those.

You are right about the balloon!!! More details to come.

I love those Osborne Lights! :cloud9:

I didn't know about the white angel... thanks for sharing that tidbit!

I read about the white angel online somewhere. I thought it was a nice memorial to him.

We were in New Orleans the week before Mardi Gras several years ago (pre-Katrina). It was a work trip and Jeremy was two. It wasn't very rowdy then as it is on Fat Tuesday so I had no problems with my two year old being there. He would sit in his stroller and watch the parades. We came home with tons of beads. For a long time afterwards, Jeremy would get up in a chair and want to throw down beads like he saw on the float (too cute but soon became very annoying). Love the Cafe Du Monde.

The balloon is correct!!!! It is one thing I will never do again!!!

You must experience the lights again. They are some beautiful in LED.

Experience on the balloon will come soon!!! I will tell you that is the scaredest I have ever been doing something with Jeremy by myself.

He loved that light. He took it this spring as well.

Jeremy's light is pretty cool. I want one. :rotfl:

I see there are some interesting updates ahead. Looking forward to them.

Hope to have this report finished by the time you get back. However.........who knows!!! Things have gotten hectic again.

The displays were incredible with the new kind of lighting. ::yes::

Animal Kingdom fun ahead! :cool1:

Oh no, not sure I could ever do Sum of all Thrills!!! We have never done that. I think Tom would enjoy it but not me. It was the balloon at DTD. Hope to get an update in soon.

I love AK but we never stay there long enough. I have decided that the next trip it is going to be the first park and we are staying there all day.

A Little Life Update! -Well, I am working on a Sunday so that can't be good. Jeremy has cub scout day camp and I volunteered to work the entire week. Tom usually does it but he can't get off work the entire time. So, for the next five days I will be responsibile for 16 Webelos (5 grade scout boys). :scared1: Please say a prayer for me as I know my stress level will be high and patience will be low.
Rain is in the forecast tomorrow but it looks like the rest of the week should be sunny and lots of fun for them. This is Jeremy's last year as a cub scout (he moves to boy scouts next year) so I am looking forward to experiencing this with him.

There is some news (not much) on my arm/neck pain. I had an EMG this week and I am now being sent to an Ortho doctor. Even though there is a disk in my neck laying on my nerve, they don't think it is that bad to be causing the pain I am in and think that my shoulder needs imaged and examined. :confused3 I am very frustrated as when this all started that is what I told my family doctor but he kept leaning towards the neck. So, I see the ortho doc Wednesday morning. I don't expect there to be much reflief. I expect to have to go through another MRI. Keep me in your prayers. The pain is not letting up but I am determined to not let it get me down. I am relieved that I was able to get in to see the ortho doctor who is the team doctor for the Cincinnati Reds. He has a great reputation so I feel like he will get to the root of the problem and get me well!

Hope to have an update soon! Hope all of you are enjoying your summer. I know many of you are heading to Disney real soon. Enjoy!!! :)

Oh my, I know when I am in pain my patience tends to be on the low end anyway, not sure I could handle a group of elementary age boys in that condition - good luck!!

So frustrating that now they think something else is causing your pain, I pray that a solution is found quickly!!
