I currently have 31 points from 2009 available on my BWV contract. My use year is June. If I were to make a one week reservation for May 2010 for a standard view studio (107 points), I would use my 31 points AND borrow the balance from my 2010 use year right?

ANd let's say, I were to want to change my reservation dates, from May to later on in 2010....I would lose all of my borrowed points right? If I understand all of my reading material received from Disney, my borrowed points CANNOT be returned to their 2010 use year and would have to be used BEFORE May 31st 2009 . Am I getting this right?

We really want to visit in May but I am worried about this borrowing ESPECIALLY with a June use year.

Your scenario is why use year DOES matter. Your 2009 points might also be in jeopardy unless you cancelled the May trip more than 4 months before arrival so you could bank the 2009 points. A May trip with June points definitely does pose risks.

If the OP is using borrowed points from 2010, it would not matter when he/she cancelled as they would have to be used by May 31st, 2010.

Once points are borrowed, they become points for use in the UY only. As you said, traveling in the last month of your UY with borrowed points is a risk if you have to cancel or even to just modify the reservation (ie: change a resort that takes less points).

2009 points have banking deadline of Jan 31 2010 so yes you are right if the op changes ressie by then they are bankable to 2010 UY.
