Anyone know if we can fly down at the end of April for less then $1200 for the 3 of us?

much cheaper to drive but that takes an entire day and dh doesn't like driving after dinner (guess he just doesn't like falling asleep in the car)

i've tried Expedia, West Jet, Travelocity and they all range about $1150 - $1400

sunwing came in about $1000 but we didn't book soon enough and lost our return date.

we must return on May 15th but our departure date is flexable from Apr 25th to the 28th

Try flying out of Buffalo or Detroit.

We're going in December for $37 per person one way, out of Buffalo.

There's a huge thread about flying out of Buffalo at the top of the thread listing, plus there's a large number of discussions about where to find low air fare costs below this one, just use the slide bar to the right.

Jim.

I just checked your dates out of Buffalo on airtran and you can fly direct both ways depart april 27-return may 15th for 822.00 taxes in. If you do a 30% exchange rate that puts you at about 1078.00cdn.
Jet Blue and Southwest are also other options but they have not released there schedule for your return date.
I would avoid Sunwing at all costs...rumor in the travel circle is that they are in trouble.:sad1:

guess i should say i'm in toronto.

flying out of buffalo isn't worth it since we'd have to pay to park our car for 3 weeks which just adds to the cost.

plus the gas and time to and from

We are in Toronto as well and fly out of Buffalo all the time. The drive is about 2 hours which we figure is really only about 1 hour more than it would take us to get to the Toronto airport and park etc.

Parking at the Buffalo airport is a lot cheaper than Toronto's.

Prices are amazing compared to Toronto -- we are flying down in December - 6 of us return is $620.00 all taxes in. Can't beat that.

If you aren't willing to go to Buffalo than $1200 is about right.

Then this severely limits the number of options that you have.

I'd avoid Sunwing, as already mentioned, I've seen a number of comments about this over the past couple of weeks.

A reasonable amount to aim for from Toronto is about $1,200 or so for three people. ($200 each/each way).

Flying out of Buffalo, end of April on Airtran.

6 adults- return fare, nonstop fights for $989.00 US total.

Parking at Buffalo is about $40.00 a week.

Worth the drive.

I guess it depends what you think is 'worth it'

We got last minute flights for $109US return taxes all in Buffalo to Orlando for December - to me that's worth it - I've never paid more then $200 for a return flight PP from Buffalo to Orlando. Parking is cheap there too especially compared to Toronto.

If you are stuck on going out of Toronto watch Westjet - sometimes they will have sales and you can get a return flight for about $400ish taxes in. You just have to watch for sales!

that's it??? oh i thought it would be way more then that.

that's about 2 hours parking at pearson LOL

maybe i'll look into buffalo again.

any other flights besides airtrans?

and $600 for 6 people - WOW - that's an amazing deal.

son3 you got a good deal.

just worked ours out and it was 1082 return for 3. US which makes it more expensive then out of toronto. :(

When the southwest fares come out check them. Also sign up for DING at the southwest.com website.

We have a Sunwing flight booked for our January trip. After reading about some of the rumours regarding Sunwing's finances, I called my travel agent today to see what he's heard. He was astounded that these rumours were circulating, and indicated that he's heard nothing to support these claims. He cited a couple of other airlines that he'd do his best to avoid (because of confirmed financial issues), but says he has complete confidence in Sunwing.

This TA has been in business for years and years and years. One of the longest established TA's in our city.

We got a great rate with Sunwing ($1032, taxes included, for 3 people return) out of Toronto. They even came highly recommended by our Disney Specialist.

I just checked Southwest and the flights are $129 each way for each person. I checked April 25th coming back May 8th (the last day Southwest's schedule is out for) and the total for 3 was $837.00 including all taxes.

$129 each way is kinda high though for southwest. The most we've ever paid is $125 to come home on our Thanksgiving (their Columbus day) and I waited too long to book -- they had been cheaper.

This Dec we booked when the flights were 1/2 off and we are paying $36 each way. We've actually paid as low as $29/one way although I don't think that's going to be seen again. This past Sept. we paid I think $54 each way (a total of about $318 for the two of us return all taxes in). It's a little more now because the exchange rate has gone down but it's still a great deal.

I would bet that the rates for Southwest out of Buffalo will come down for that time period, I would say that your worst case scenerio will be 99 each way, which ends up at around $600.00 for the three of you (it could end up being far less) Parking the longterm B is $45.00 per week.

Yes, sorry. I should have said.. I booked when they were first released in Aug.

But, when I look at Dec. 2008 fares, they are at $72.00 each way ( what we payed) so the fares might come down again for April. If you can wait, I will post when I see them drop. I am on the website all the time to make sure my times have not changed.
It might be worth it to wait it out.

And, by the way, the Buffalo airport is a great place. Very small, and easy to get around.

do a search at www.kayak.com - I just did April 26, 27, 28, 29 flexible date and check the nearby airports box returning May 15th and got $197 return taxes in from Rochester to Orlando on Airtran.

that would be less then $600USD return and Rochester is just 45 mins or so farther then BUF - I'm sure you'd get the same great deal out of buffalo too at some point - you just have to be patient and do lots of searching!

Also perhaps look into flying into Tampa instead of Orlando - takes us about 1 hr driving to get to DW from TPA and we've always found good flight prices. I've also never paid more then $100 for a week for a rental car - and our last one was a mid sized SUV for a week from Alamo.

Also try downloading 'ding' from Southwest and signing up for the weekly deals newsletter.

Happy searching!!

we ( 3 of us ) just flew out of buffalo ( airtran), saved $900 on our trip, plus the cost of 1 tank of gas, and $64 for preferred parking, and it only took 10 mins max at the us border.

and for the nay sayers airtran, treated everyone very well

we must return on May 15th but our departure date is flexable from Apr 25th to the 28th

I just checked out Jet Blue from Buffalo and if you left on April 28th, which is a Tuesday, the rates for one-way is $72.00 per person. I couldn't check on your return flight as the Jet Blue website won't allow you to go that far ahead but $72.00 is a pretty good deal.

Keep in mind also that travelling during the week is usually less expensive than flying out on a Saturday or Sunday. The rate for flying out on Sunday, April 26th, 2009 is $114.00.

You are all forgetting to mention the best part about flying out of Buffalo and this is that you don't have to wait in line at customs at the airports! Since you cross customs by land, you are flying domestic so the DME takes your luggage no problem and your airport travel is fast and easy!

I actually do not think the rates will go down in April. We grabbed JetBlue seats for March for $400 each when they were first posted - they are now over $600 (I insist on flying direct and at good flight times and we do have a Saturday return). If you see 3 seats for less that 1000K anywhere I would grab them. You will hear all kinds of people talk about their $29 dollar flights but they are usually in January (or off-season)....have stopovers...and are on Tuesdays....and nighttime flying!

wow that is a great deal. even driving down and parking our car for what would now be 2.5 weeks would be way cheaper then toronto.

when do the may dates come out?
