Less than a week until “Are you 23?” is revealed. (I joined D23)

MRS. Tikiroom and I were at the park Saturday (as usual) celebrating our anniversary and the CM in the Disneyana store gave us a couple of pins. Black with "Are you 23" on them. The CM stated that she had no idea what it is but to go on-line and register. So I did. Waiting to hear what's up.

That would be meeeeee
( I am so pathetic)
Hey Glendalais, maybe you know this..I was going to ask Dave, but didn't think my question would make it all the way to the master. When we were in the courtyard in front of the Team Disney building (where the statues and plaques are) I noticed that the Ward Kimball handprint thing shows 6 fingers on each hand. I don't think he actually had six fingers on each hand, so there has to be a story about this..

I heard that he just moved his hand back and forth to make it look like 6 fingers. Don't know if that is true, though.

I'll be at the meeting March 10 so sure hope we get the news there! :thumbsup2

The magazine looks really neat.

From the sound of it the membership doesn't include the subscription to the magazine though, which sounds weird to me.

You know, I had to research this a little, but I was able to find this. It's from an interview given by Jeff Hoffman, Vice President for Disney Worldwide Outreach to a Disney Fan Site a few years ago.

Jeff Hoffman said:
In 1989 when we honored the "Nine Old Men," Ward Kimball told me to look the other way. When I looked back, he had put a “sixth” finger on both hands that can still be seen today!

The term "Nine Old Men" referred to the people Walt Disney considered his nine best animators.

Basically, it was Mr. Kimball's way of playing a practical joke, and most certainly leaving his mark upon Team Disney Burbank, lol.

I kinda thought it was a practical joke and wondered if it had some big secret story behind it. But practical joke by itself sounds good to me and I thank you for the research. BTW, Mr Kimball didn't need to add a finger to leave his mark! It was amazing to see all the handprints and think of all those people and what they did that will be enjoyed forever. For the Disney fan the Backstage Magic trip was incredible and not to be missed.

I think it's the fan community that includes the "twenty three" magazine.

Noon tomorrow, according to the countdown on the website!!!

I went to my Barnes and Noble last week hoping they accidently put the magazine out ahead of time. They didn't. :(

Wasnt there a movie with Jim Carrey called "The Number 23"? :confused3

Yes there was..it was a mind game thing..so maybe Disney is just playing mind games on us? (like that's never happened before)

It's out now!

Dang! My part time job that feeds my trip fund is at Hastings..and I'm in charge of magazines..so I was looking all over today to see if we had it or if it was in the system. No dice yet..

So the countdown has gone... And no news....
