Crazy question, I know!
My dad and DH have always wanted to try Le Cellier...now that the date is approaching, though, they're wondering if the kids would prefer San Angel Inn. We have very picky eaters, and we'll be there the week after Easter (so it may be too late anyway!) Just wondering - with is better? We have DS (6), DS (4), and DD (18 mos).

First I will say that Le'Cellier has to be one of the most over rated and over hyped restaurants in all of WDW. The place in my opinion is average (perhaps a bit better) when it comes to steak houses. Because it's a 1TS on the DDP makes it extremely popular and a decent value though.

With that said, even though I enjoy San Angel Inn, with picky eaters I would suggest Le'Cellier or another restaurant. SAI is not your typical around the corner Tex-Mex restaurant with taco's and burritos; However, they were very accommodating when meeting my at the time picky DD(11).

If you don't already have ADR's for LeCellier for the week after Easter, I am not sure you will be able to get in at this point.
That being said, our kids (6 & 8) prefer San Angel Inn. They loved their cheese quesidillas and virigin margaritas. Dh and I love the atmosphere @ San Angel and the non-virgin margaritas;). I enjoy the food there, DH likes the food there.
In terms of food, DH and I much prefer LeCellier. :)

Went to both places this past October and I have been to both before. The steak this year at San Angle was so tender and tasty I was so suprised, they did away with the combo steak and shrimp maybe this made way for a better steak. Then went to Le Cellier later I the week and also a great tender mushroom filet, this this was the best steak me and DW had in the 5 times at Le Cellier but usually get a good steak there. We also go to Coral Reef for the NY Strip this year wasn't as tender so every place is hit or miss with the cut of steak you get.
Really I like to go to both places every trip. San Angle has turned into our arrival day restaurant. And Le Cellier is what ever day or time you can get it restaurant lunch or dinner.

We recently ate at SAI and hated it. I did not go in expecting typical tex mex. That said, everything tasted off and just kind of muddy and gross. It wasn't good food in any way, shape or form. My grilled steak had a bizzare chemical taste, almost like how a Burger King burger tastes...imitation "flame broiled." I haven't eaten at Le Cellier, but it must be be better than San Angel Inn.

We love both. 2 totally different experiences and food.

SAI is more romantic, but the kids seem to like it to. There is something for everyone there.

Le Cellier is very good food, the restaurant itself is small and rather tight. The atmosphere is a bit "tight" but not some much it isn't comfortable.

As the PP said, if you don't have Le Cellier ressies already your chance of getting in is very slim. Cancelations happen but it would be MAJOR pixie dust at this point.

Have fun and enjoy either way!

I don't eat Mexican food so we've never done San Angel. We've now done LeCellier at least five times -- lunch or dinner and we have never had a bad meal or bad service. We have some of the best steakhouses in Chicago and the filet at LeCellier comes darn close to the steaks I've had in Chicago as far as outstanding taste. Love the filet, love the cheddar cheese soup. However, with Easter being just a little over three weeks away, it is highly unlikely that you could get an ADR there now. But if that is the one you want, give it a shot.

If you can't get into Le Cellier and you don't like Mexican food there are many other places in EPCOT we also like. Coral Reef, Teppeen Edo, Rose & Crown, and Chefs de France are other restaurants we enjoy.

I ate at both on my last trip and I have to say that I liked San Angel Inn best!! The food and atmosphere were both outstanding. In fact, I told my husband last week that next time we go to WDW we are eating at San Angel Inn and Le Cellier in Epcot (which means he has to skip his beloved Biergarten). Good luck!

Thanks everyone! I should have clarified: we DO have Le Cellier reservations - I was flirting with the idea of swapping it for SAI.

I think it will be very difficult for you to get into Le Cellier at this point without the reservation, so don't cancel it until you're certain - you won't be able to trade back. Le Cellier's overhyped but features plain food. San Angel does not feature plain food. Not sure what your picky eaters are set on ordering or whether you refer to the children or the adults when you say "picky eaters." If the kids would be happy with a chicken quesadilla (or you could ask for one with just cheese) you might be OK with San Angel, but a picky adult probably won't find much to like there.

Le Cellier has cheese pizza and hot dogs on its childrens menu.

I love San Angel Inn for the atmosphere, and our food was decent there. I really enjoyed the food at LeCellier, but I didn't care for the whole experience (probably a bad day service-wise). I would return to both, definitely.

If you are thinking the kids would prefer the food at SAI, I doubt it. My DD's quesadilla there (the only thing she would pick off the kids menu) wasn't that good, but LeCellier has a few good choices for kids. My DD would pick LeCellier hand's down for food alone. The kid's steak was very good and she loved the pretzel bread. HTH!

I don't care for Mexican food so we have only tried the San Angel Inn once. The atmosphere was good, but the food was nothing I would go back for and my wife, who does like Mexican food, agrees.

We both like LeCellier and eat there as often as we can. As mentioned, it is one of the most difficult reservations to get. We like it for lunch and their soup followed by a burger is among the best in WDW. You will not need much of a dinner that day!
