Well now....

... eBay has this listed for only $4300 + $50 shipping IF you can get it at the opening bid. That is ... used.

... And if the $4300 is a bit out of budget for a father's day gift ... then consider that in the last 30 days they sold this little 600mm Sigma CAT gem for only $329. Speed of the lense was not indicated.

Or there is this little active listing (7622687942) for a 400mm f5.6 APO Sigma with an asking price of just $799.

These two seem a little more "affordable" then the $4300 lens. Of course, I would be happy to get a nice tie and shirt - which is about as predictable as it gets. LOL!

And while we're on the subject of what YOU want for fathers' day - here's a couple for me....

Unfortunately - the only listing I could find was an obviously fraudulant listing using a stolen eBay ID - it is for a 600mm Image Stabilized Canon prime lense - asking only $1 clam with no reserve, a $1000 "buy it now" to bait suckers and 17 hours to go on the 1 day listing  ! LOL! If only it were true then pigs would have wings and fly, eh? Here's a photo though of the little $6000 gem... (if the image does not display it is because EBAY took the listing down I imagine.

I did report the listing to EBAY security as suspected of being made with a stolen eBay account.

And as for a potential Father's day gift with more potential from a budgetary POV - how about this little $15 "gift" for the good ol' Dad??? ....

And no... the bunny outfit is NOT for me! :goodvibes Of course, I am about as unlikely to get my spouse into a bunny outfit like this as I am to get the 600mm IS Canon prime at ANY price.

the speed and quality of the Minolta glass make it a much better gift than those you pictured, the first one looks like a mirror lens based on the size.. wouldn't want it...

too bad on the bunny outfit, that would make a nice father's day gift..

Yeah...

I know the speed and quality would be better on the Minolta APO... as I was just offerring lower cost alternatives for Father's Day!

And - just in case anyone felt my "Hot Bunny" outfit was "too easy" (pardon the pun) to get... how about THIS alternative "up-market" fathers' day gift? I spyed this baby as our cruise ship pulled into Alcapulco this past Valentines' Day! THIS is what "I want" for father's day!

My crew would all have bunny outfits... Would you believe this sweet ride is only number 69 on the list of worlds' biggest yachts? http://powerandmotoryacht.com/megayachts/0805top100/index7.html Plus here's some more info on the Feadship "Attessa" for any who might want something like this for Father's Day too ....

Name Attessa
LOA 68.58 m
LWL 61.31 m (203 feet long)
Beam 11.00 m
Depth 5.70 m
Draft 3.45 m

About Feadship:
Based in the Netherlands, Feadship is a co-operation between three of the most renowned names in yachting history, with combined roots dating back to 1849. Today, De Vries, Van Lent and De Voogt have four state-of-the art yards at their disposal, based in Aalsmeer, Kaag, Makkum and Papendrecht, plus a high-tech design and engineering centre. Feadship is recognized as the world leader in the field of custom-built motor yachts, and has continuously been at the forefront of innovations in both technology and design. An aggressive expansion program now underway will allow the organization to launch up to five yachts a year, ranging in size up to 130m.

Launched in 1998 and acclaimed as one of the finest Feadships ever, Aviva suffered a fire in the Red Sea in May 2000. ... (as a result...) A totally new design was drawn up by the owner, and the work was carried out at Vancouver Shipyards.

The hull of the Attessa has been extended 6.58m, giving her an LOA of 68.58m and a large lazarette in the cockpit. A hydraulic hatch offers access to a Novurania tender, three waverunners, a jet ski, four kayaks, ten bicycles and other toys. The bridge deck and main deck were both lengthened and the second transom is fitted with a vertical pantograph hatch and crane.

Other major structural changes include the addition of a helicopter pad to the club deck, the former sun deck onboard Aviva, now turned into a totally enclosed deck. An entirely new sky deck has been added above the club deck, with the upper superstructure made as a single infused composite piece for weight reduction.

The main and lower decks were all redesigned and detail changes made. The addition of cabinets on the aft deck area, which has been opened up and decorated in varnished teak, is an example. Attessa also has a brand-new interior in a traditional design. Her engine room has been updated with new C9 Caterpillar generators, and new generator dry exhausts with Unicat Combifilters. A new main exhaust system built with lightweight stainless steel now goes out the top of the mast with minimal emissions. A zero speed stabilization system has also been added.

Unfortunately the ship is not on the market and is currently owned by a Montana industrialist - Dennis Washington. http://www.feadship.nl/news.php?id=61

And the real comment everyone's been waiting for... what does number 69 on the world's largest private yachts list cost to acquire? Here's anoter quote that sort of sums it up best...

... The fire-damaged yacht was being off-loaded by its owner and an insurance company eager to get rid of it <rumored elsewhere as $20KK>. For two years Washington toiled shoulder-to-shoulder with workers at his Vancouver Shipyards rebuilding Attessa from the hull up. He added an extra deck formed from a single piece of plastic, the largest plastic composite ever constructed for a yacht. The ship, festooned with art deco flourishes, is equipped with a movie theater, gym, massage room and two outdoor Jacuzzis. A radar tower is painted "Harley-Davidson platinum," as is a seven-seat helicopter. Washington spent about $50 million buying and restoring the craft.

Heck, why quibble over Father's Day gifts... someone order me two of these ships!
