Length of Stay without first and last day?

I am so glad to see this thread- we are checking in to the Polynesian in two days. I talked to the concierge a couple of days ago, and they said that I can only get the 10% discount on the unlimited pass if I purchase it at a DVC location. This seems pretty goofy, and has it changed? We stayed at the Polynesian last year and they gave us the 10% without any question about it. How should I handle this? It's one of our special perks as a DVC member. We wont have a rental car, so getting to a DVC resort from the Polynesian will be very inconvienient. Thanks in advance for any help!

Sorry, it's only when staying at the DVC resorts. Even when staying on points at other WDW resorts, we are not entitled to the discount. If you got 10% at the Poly last year it was either through another discount option or you got a freebie. Good luck.

Thanks Dean. I'm dissapointed, but I'd rather have the right information before I arrive, so that I'm not frustrated during check in. I guess the CM last year at the Poly did a favor and I didn't even know it, so I thought we got the discount regardless of where we stay. Oh well. Thanks for the reply!

I can't find this on any chart, but our guests will be staying with us two nights and need three day park hoppers. Is that length available, and what would it cost with the discount? They need park hoppers and not the single day, single park passes because we are planning an E-night and don't want to spend that entire day at MK. Diana

OK, I have another thought. My understanding is that with the Disney Club you get a discount on the park hopper plus tickets. They never expire-so any unused days can be used the next time at this year's prices-right? Isn't it a better deal to go that way than with the LOS?

Unless they will be in your unit and only staying for that length of time, they will not be able to either get the UMP nor a discount. The tickets must be bought for LOL though they may drop the first or last day and sometimes both. They will not let them buy 3 day passes if you are staying 7. They should buy some type of PH ticket like a 4 day and use them with the extra time remaining which will never expire. If they belong to a group that can get a discount (Canadian, FL resident) there may be other options.

We have a separate reservation for a two bedroom for the two nights they are staying with us, and their names are on the reservation with ours. The price I found for a 2 night UPH (3 days, I assume) is $161. Then I assume they will get 10% off that? Diana

Diana,
Three day park hoppers are sold from Ticketmania. Check out the posts over on the budget board if you are interested. Erin

It remains to be seen whether they will follow their own rulse but the stated rules is that if you are at one resort even if you change rooms, unit sizes or check out and back in; it is counted as a single stay for UMP passes. I doubt they follow this very closely though.

We stayed at WLV last year and frst and last days were dropped on Ultimate PH. The MC set up a "phony" ressie for us. I am not sure exactly what she did, but for a 4 day stay we had 2 days of UPH. The days do need to be consecutive, though.
I actually purchased the passes on my second day at the resort because I had no intention of getting UPH, but regular PH that never expire. At the time this way actually met our needs more so than a PH.

Dean-Can a person, DVC, staying at a non-DVC resort, got to a DVC resort to get the 10% discount benefit? If so Dsnygirl could take the ferry to WLV.

My understanding in not unless you have a reservation at the DVC resort. You could buy the advance purchase UMP but wouldn't be able to drop days I suspect. While I know that 10% is a decent discount, I suspect it's not worth all the hassle to do things like take a bus and ferry and spent 2 or 3 hours doing so. Frankly, there are generally cheaper ways than the UMP pass unless one wants to flitter here and there for a couple of hours at a time, even then the PAP is a better deal in the long run for many. Personally, I'd rather do 4 or 5 hours at one park today, have lunch in between, go to a water park or DQ tomorrow and so on, but others have different desires.
