I need some answers about length of stay. First if your family is staying in your timeshare do they get the discount? Also if you buy the lenght of stay in advance through Disney, which has a discount already do you still get the DVC discount? Also is the ultimate pass and length of stay the same thing? My son and family are going in February for a week and are trying to figure out which is the best way to go.

Thank you all for you input

Technically, the discount is for DVC members, but guests staying on points are usually provided the 10% DVC discount.

The DVC discount can not be purchased in advance- it is available only at the resort. The advance purchase rate cannot be purchased for stays using DVC points- even thru MS.

The Ultimate Park Hopper is the current designation for length-of-stay passes. It will include admission to all Disney Theme Parks, water pasrks, Pleasure Island and Disney Quest for each day of your stay- including arrival and departure day.

One difference with the DVC discounted passes- the first or last day (and usualy both - depending on the CM) may be dropped from the pass if desired- thus allowing for an additional reduction in cost.

I'm sure your son will have no problem purchasing the pass with the discount.

Enjoy!

Just to clarify one thing that Doc said. The DVC discount on UMP is formally offered for those that stay in the same unit as the member. It is usually offered to any guest of the member including renters but the rules would give DVC the option of not offering the discount.

okay I have not kept up with the rules on this because I used a park hopper

but at one time if you purchased this LOS - it had to be for everyone in your group - it was the last time I asked and since some of us had park hoppers - we did not do it.

So has DVC changed it policy and only those guests or members who need it can buy it - or does everyone who stays in the rooms must buy this thing.

You can purchase the pass for those who need it only. Those with AP or other multi-day passes do not need to purchase with those that do need the UPH.

Enjoy!

Make sure that everyone in your group wants the LOS pass for the whole time there.

When my DH and I went at Thanksgiving, I had purchased a PAP since I will be going back in May. I wanted to buy my DH a 2 night UPH pass and they would not sell it to me. If we wanted the perks with the UPH pass, then I had to buy one for the entire length of the reservation, OR I had to have had a seperate ressie for him for the weekend he stayed. I had to buy the 4 day PH and had a day left over. I spent $50 more that what I had planned for his ticket.

For the rest of WDW, I think you must still buy for the entire party. This has never been a rule for DVC LOS passes though it was for the food n fun card. They do require you buy it for the full lenth of stay but will frequently drop the first and/or last day for a minimum of 2 days.

I have also been trying to decide what passes to buy for next Thanksgiving trip. How do you figure the cost of a UPH as a DVC member staying at BCV checking in on November 20 and checking out on November 26. May want to drop either or both first and last days. HELP!! Am trying to decide whether or not to buy AP's or not.

If you do more that one trip a year to WDW - Look into buying and Annual Pass. My Wife and I always manage 3 trips on an Annual Pass cycle.

Candace - Thanks for posting the site with the ticket prices...I'm assuming that we'd use the gate price then take the 10% discount???

I'm glad to hear that we can drop our departure day as we will probably not be heading for a park visit before our early afternoon departure.

New question kind of related:

We're bringing 25 family members with us next October and are curious if there would be a problem getting both the first and last days dropped off the LOS pass with the DVC discount? Since we have that many people we're curious if they would be more apt to waive both days or if it matters.

Given that Magical Gatherings has no benefits for admission!

It shouldn't matter. As long as everyone is staying at the DVC resort on points, you should be able to drop both days. If the first CM denies that, check with another.

Enjoy!

While it has been usual for DVC to drop the first and/or last day, there is no requirement for them to do so and in fact, the rules say otherwise. I'm sure they'll require that all get the same lenth ticket for the same unit and they may require that all get the same lenth ticket to give the member discount. Good luck and enjoy.
