Length of Stay passes (or whatever they're calling them these days)

I have a couple of questions regarding length of stay passes and how they work.

We will be going to BCV for 8 days/7 nights from 9/6 - 9/13. I have gotten varying answers as to whether you can "drop" your day of arrival and day of departure. Have any of you ever been denied that privilege?

Also, we will be travelling with 7 people all together (myself, wife, 2 daughters, MIL, FIL, and my mother). Because of some work issues my Mom will not be staying the full week. Will we be able to get her a length of stay just for the time she is there? I was told that could not be done, but as with all things Disney I wonder if that is at the whim of the CM you happen to be talking to ;) . I was hoping maybe someone else out there has been in a similar situation and could give me some insight as to what we can expect.

you will be able to drop the first and last days off your LOS passes but you will have to get the same number of days for your entire party. You will not be able to get a LOS for your mother for a different number of days for the rest of your party. I suggest buying her a Hopper pass for the number of days she'll be there, that way days won't go unused.

I'd ask at check in, anyway. You never know! If the answer is no, you can buy your Mom the hopper pass then. Good Luck!

I agree with Carol, we had a similar situation a few years ago and the CM allowed us to buy a different LOS package for one member of our party. On another trip, a similar request was not granted so we bought the appropriate hopper. It depends on the CM.

We have always either dropped the last day or first and last day off of our LOS passes. Just ask.

Don't know about your mother's pass, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Are you sure you want Length of Stay passes?

Hoppers are cheaper and last forever. Length of Stay is more expensive and it seems to me you would really need to work to get the benefit out of it....for example going into the parks every day as well as doing some of the other benefits on the pass.

Since you are going for such a long time...consider annual passes. The break even point on an annual pass is 8 days. You seem to have projected using your LOS for 6 days...the annual pass would be your excuse to come back again another time!

The key to LOS, imo, are if you ar going to do PI or DQ or the waterparks more then a couple of times. We get los since we hit PI a number of times during our trip and go to TL or BB if the weather permits.
