Hi,
We will be visiting friends in San Francisco in August and are planning on driving to San Diego to visit Legoland, SeaWorld and San Diego Zoo/Wild Animal Kingdom. I'm so confused as to where to stay. Any suggestions? Would we be able to stay at one hotel and visit all three? I'm traveling with dh, dd8 and ds4.

I highly recommend the West Inn and Suites if you are thinking of staying in Carlsbad 5 minutes from Legoland, 25 minutes from SD Wild Animal Park, 40 minutes (or less) from Sea World. It is clean and new and they cater to families. Only downside is that other than the 2 nice adjacent restaurants, there is nothing really in walking distance, but the ocean and little town and 5 minutes away by car

You should check out Del Mar. It is pretty much in between all those places. if there are no races going on at the time you go you can get reasonably priced rooms there. We either stay there or in Carlsbad when we go to Seaworld/Legoland.

We stayed at the Ramada inn in carlsbad. Right now prices are at about $120 a night. What we like is that it is a 2 room suite. so that the kids can sleep in one room and we can watch tv in the other. it had a fridge microwave and 2 tv's. they even served 'real' food for breakfast. Yogurt, waffles, pastrys, cereal, juice coffee.

We found the most convenient area to stay is in Carlsbad. It is 5 minutes to Lego Land and is about as close as you would want to be to the WIld Animal Park which is about 20 minutes out towards no where ;) About 15 mins to Sea World and probably 25-30 to the SD Zoo. We stayed at the residence inn carlsbad (on Faraday) which was great and newish with a free breakfast buffet and is all 1 or 2 BR suites so you get a separate area for the kids.

I agree with many here... staying by the coast (Carslbad, Encinitas, Solona Beach, or Del Mar) would be best. you will have more opportunities for points of interest, good resturants close by and... walks on the beach... if you are so inclined. :confused3 I live about 4 miles south of Legoland... so the posts prior to this one have offered good advice.

Good luck!:thumbsup2
