Legoland Hotel vs Beach Retreat

We are spending two days at LLFL this trip prior to heading to WDW, and I want the kids to get the experience of one of the themed hotels. Has anyone stayed in both and recommend one over the other? Pluses and minuses of each? We arrive after midnight on night 1, so will probably stay somewhere cheaper. Then to LL, one night on site, and on to our DVC stay. I don’t know that we’ll swim since our time is limited. We’re going in June, and have water park tickets too. Thanks!
