Legoland day trip?

Hello everyone,

Well, I am starting to work on our itinerary and would like your opinions of adding a day trip to Legoland.

We have four full days at Universal, staying at RPR, and our last day our flight leaves about 8 pm, so we have a pretty good portion of that day also. (So probably 4.75 days)

We have 4 days, 2 park tickets. So, I was thinking of *inserting* a legoland trip in between to break things up. We would do a couple full days at Universal, then Legoland, then another full day and then finish off a partial day. I was thinking that would be enough.

However, we won't have a rental car, so I think we would do the Legoland shuttle bus (and probably needs a taxi ride to the outlets to pick that up).

My younger two (9 yo twins) really like legos, and my son has a huge lego city collection he has built. He gets the magazines and always brings me the "free child with paying adult" ticket thinking it is enough to get us there, lol. :lmao: So, I would like to take them - but on the other hand, the true reason we are going is for WWoHP as they are HP fanatics, so I don't necessarily think they'd be disappointed if we didn't go.

I'd like to have some relaxation during the trip, so if we skip LL we will take advantage of relaxing by the pool. Since I have never been to Universal, in your opinion, is it packed enough and should I use the four full days there for Universal, or would you recommend breaking it up and taking a trip to LL?

I hope this all made sense!

Thanks in advance!

Four days will be way too much for Universal. You can go back again and again, but you'll find that you can see everything you want to see in two with time to spare. A LL trip is definitely worth it if you have little ones who love Legos. PLUS they're going to have the waterpark open on May 26th as well, so that adds more to it. The waterpark, just like the regular park will be aimed at kids from 2-12. There's a ton to do at the park, and tons to look at. The shuttle is a great idea.

For most folks, that is probably true, but for us it ain't enough time. Our reason is that our son spends an INCREDIBLE percentage of the park time waiting for or watching parades and characters. We usually stay 4 days, and it also makes for a more "relaxed" pace. It also gives us a "rain day" or "sick day" to play with.
Enjoy your vacation!

BTW...It sounds like your twins would probably have a great time at Legoland.

We have 5 nights at a condo, with 2 half-ish days and 4 full days to spend. It will be me, my mom and my 11 and 13 yo boys.

We bought the 4 day, 2-park tickets with the intention of 2 full days and 2 part days at USF/IOA, and one day at Legoland. I've heard it's great, and I want to get the boys there while they're still obsessed with Legos. They want to go on this vacation for two reasons - HP at IOA and LL. Well, that and they love the resort we're using; we stayed there for a week a couple of years ago to do WDW.

Even though we haven't been to USF/IOA before, I'm pretty confident we won't want to do 4 full days there. I'm figuring 2 full days there, 1 at LL, and then we can use the lazy river and other resort amenities the rest of the time, with 2 shorter trips into the park.

A quick LL note: I had forgotten to order my LL tix when I ordered the ones for USF/IOA. I did that just after my last post.

Tix are $68 and $60 online for one-day tix at the LL wedsite. Undercover Tourist has them for $71.99 and $61.55 with a second day included. That's an extra $12 for our 2 adult, 2 kid/senior to have a second day. I was definitely willing to pay the difference on the off chance that the kids would like to go back there on our last half-day in Orlando.

Thank you all for your input! I suspected that the 4+ days was plenty, and being the lego lovers that the twins are, I think LL is a great way to take a break from USF in between, so we probably will do 2 days at USF, then LL, then another 2 at USF (being a partial day) - all subject to change on the crowd predictions, of course, lol.

Cyndi, that is a great idea - I did see that also! However, in our situation we won't have transportation and are doing the shuttle, so we will not be able to go back for a second day. For anyone who can though, I also thought that was a great deal.

On Mousesavers I found an online code from the Lego Club magazine I mentioned earlier - we checked out separately and got 2 kids tickets free!! Hurray! (Mousesavers says there is a way to get up to 2 free kids tickets in one transaction, but that didn't work for me) :confused3

Regardless, I did get the two children's admission for free. Only thing is, this doesn't include the waterpark (but there are no discounts available for the waterpark inclusive tickets yet, that I could find). If we decide to add the waterpark on to our trip when we get there, it is an extra $12 each so very reasonable.

Yay!! 44 days!!

Thanks everyone!
