It looks like Cypress Gardens has been sold to Merlin Entertainment the British amusement company who operates the Legoland parks among others. This now ties in Cypress Gardens to other Central Florida theme parks like Universal and Sea World/Busch Gardens who are owned or partially owned by Blackstone, who owns a majority stake in Merlin. There's been rumors of this happening for months now and the only question now is if they build it how will they get people to make the drive south on US 27.

I think people would go, I would if it was Legoland. ( I went when it was Cypress Gardens) My grandkids would love it.
It doesn't take that long to get there. Maybe they should consider a daily shuttle/bus service from Orlando.

Well people already make the drive to Busch Gardens. I enjoyed the park as Cypress Gardens, and feel there was a lot that could be done with it, but a lot of it that was great as is.

I really do hope they keep up with the Gardens, and the water park area was a lot of fun. They really need to work on the whole "ride" area. It didn't seem like much more than a carnival.

I wonder if blackstone is getting in over their heads. They just bought sea world, and those parks are pretty much operational on their own, Cypress Gardens has a lot of issues to address, including getting people in the park.

It appears that most or all of the rides might possibly be getting removed.Over the last couple of months I've been hearing updates of their rides being put up for sale, the last one that REALLY surprised me was the Island in the Sky observation tower,I mean that's an icon you think of when someone mentions Cypress Gardens.I don't know if all the rides will be removed as possibly when the sale was made the plans to sell them changed or if Merlin decides to start with a blank slate sell the rides and build their own rides and attractions if a Legoland does get built at Cypress Gardens.

We've always wanted to check out Legoland, but have never wanted to enough to go all the way to San Diego. We'd check it out for sure if they build it here.
