My DS5 is now FASCINATED with Legos. I bought a couple of boxes when Target did their toy clearance but they weren't really into them at the time and was planning on using what I had for gifts for two other kids. Now I'll keep them for my boys but they kind of need a box of just random legos. Where's the best place to "stock up" on cheap legos? We bought a bucket at the Lego store when we were at Disney and that's kind of what kicked off the fascination.

I'm also looking for a table for the blocks. We have a "train table" and the flip side is lego-ish but for the bigger blocks - not the "real" legos.

TIA for any help!!

Toys r us has their sets buy 2 get one free right now and also if you just want a bunch of random legos...try ebay a lot of people sells lots of them. My kids arent old enough really for the legos so i havent gone there yet but im sure my day will come :)

just keep looking at garage sales and craigslist. I know a lot of people on ebay sell them by the pound. My son has even said that he would rather have a box of random ones than the $$ kits. With a kit he puts it together once and wants to leave it. We've gotten many at garage sales that have lots of cool pieces.

I have tried ebay but some of the lots of the legos are going for crazy prices. I understand legos are expensive anyways but gosh! Yeah I think my boys would much rather have just the bucket of legos to dig through and build whatever instead of putting together the kits since they're both pretty young yet.

Thanks for the help! :goodvibes

I saw a large tub of assorted pieces at Sam's Club today for about $39. I think it was over 700 pieces, and had instructions for making different things. It looked like a good starter set.

They also had a box of Duplos for the same price.

From what I can tell "lego" and "deal" go together like "military" and "intelligence" or "jumbo" and "shrimp"

Check your local museum store. Many have legos and they offer a discount (small, but still a discount) to their members.

Somebody has previously posted this tip so I won't take credit ;), but there are Border's coupons out there--I believe if you google it, you can find a 30% off any one item at Borders. I went there with my coupon not believing they would actually have legos, but they do and they had the general tubs with general pieces as well as a variety of kits. it wasn't a HUGE variety, but there was a little of everything (Star Wars, Spongebob, etc.).

Good luck!

Free shipping if you go to the lego website. That makes it possible for us to buy a few more sets than we normally would either at a local store (tax) or from the website (shipping).

Legos are expensive but they last & hold their value IMO. Now if we could just keep all the sets & instructions separate with their box...

We've got a Brio train table and my MIL bought green plastic lego boards that fit crosswise in the table. Four boards fill the table, one side of the board is Dublo, the other Lego. If you don't mind disassembling train track, they work wonderfully.

I bought the transportation set at costco last week it normally is $39.99 and it was $28.99. I put it away for ds for his bday. other than that I keep my eye on lego. com sales/free shipping. Im seriously thinking of the space police set for him for christmas as his big gift. I need to do that soon.

Indiana Jones sets are 30% off at TRU this week.

Thank you all for the ideas and suggestions! I really appreciate it. Still looking for deals. I might have to run to Sam's Club (or see if we can order on line) for that pack. Sounds like a good deal.

i was just wondering also about these. My DGS is just over 3 and alot of people have suggested the bigger Duplo ones??? Are these good ?? i mean im sure he woud have fun, but i dont know if he would or could do the ones that have a specific theme. Do you think the bigger blocks are a waste compared to legos?? Thank you for your answers.

TRU had 15% off all lego sets and 30% off some others...check your local ad!

It will be several years before he is old enough to really enjoy regular size legos. The pieces are small and you have to line them up just right and push hard. I think the duplos would be perfect. They only made buckets of them when my DS was little and he really liked them. I have seen on lego.com they make little sets now, like fire station or police station for duplos, so your DGS might enjoy those too. I always see lots of duplos for sale on craigslist. I imagine people sell them as their kids grow into regular legos. If you don't object to used toys, check your local CL for good deals.
