Hi all

I need opinions on this

I belong to a local internet sale site
Local people post on FB things they want to sell
Toys clothes household items everything basically
This morning 4 one day hopper tickets were listed $400
The seller won them in a silent auction a year ago
They are good until next March but she's selling them because she said she knows she won't get there by then
She has a picture of the tickets
Plastic card type with the characters and a letter congratulating her on winning the tickets
The tickets aren't linked to her from what she said
I didn't realize WDW donated tickets to charity events

Opinions? Legit or No?

Thx

Yes, they do. There have been many posts about this type of ticket and getting them through some kind of fundraising effort. Be aware these tickets usually cannot be upgraded in any way.

Disney does donate tickets for auctions and the like sometimes. However, these often have a strict expiration date and can not be updated in any way. No way to know if those exact tickets are legit though...

I'd note that resale or use of unused tickets doesn't violate Florida law. Resale or attempted transfer of multiday tickets is though."

Potentially totally legit. We won four one-day hoppers at my kids' school auction a few years ago. As a PP said, they do have an expiration date and they can't be changed at all - can't upgrade them to multi-day or use them towards an AP or anything else. But we used them as a four day hopper and it worked great.
Obviously we have no way of knowing if this woman in particular is legit.

I'd say these tickets should be discounted a bit. They're quite restrictive and for not much more you can get tickets that can have options/days added.

But they're probably legit. My kids' school auction had them this year.

Disney does donate these kinds of tickets. I think you can call Disney and tell them the numbers and they can verify that the tickets are valid. Be aware that these types of tickets are generally not upgradeable.

I bid/won on these same tickets at one of my kid's school fundraisers. They get these complimentary tickets from WDW for this event every year, but they've never appealed to me because they can't be upgraded and we usually have APs anyway. This summer, we're doing Universal only, and decided that for once, these tickets would make sense for us.

Usually every year, they have the disclaimer that Disney sends with the tickets about the expiration date, the black-out dates (which I believe is just during that week around Christmas-time) and that they can't be upgraded. This year, they didn't put that out which annoyed me because people were bidding much more than I usually see every year and I'll bet they wouldn't have been bidding that much if they knew of all of the restrictions! I bid within the last 5 minutes and won, but I wasn't expecting to pay that much. When I went to pay, they told me about the restrictions -- which I knew about -- but they should have disclosed that for the bidders (not just the winner)! I still paid considerably less than gate-price, but I know I probably would've paid less if the others bidding knew of the restrictions ahead of time.

They're probably legit, but you'll have to use your judgement on whether your trust the seller or not.
