We are booking our first DCL trip and have a question regarding legal names on documents. The TA is asking for all legal names, but my DH name on his birth certificate is Nicholas , but he goes by Nick on his drivers license. Will that be a problem???

No, they are going to be looking at the Birth Certificate and/or passport for the Legal name and the drivers license for the photo and name match. If his legal name on his birth certificate is Nicholas and his license says Nick they are not going deny him as Nick is a shortened name for Nicholas. My sister in laws Legal name is Helen Elizabeth but her drivers license says Betsy and we have never had a problem with any cruise line.

Thanks LB! I didn't think it would be a problem, but I'd rather ask now then wait until we get there and then have them say something. Better to be safe than sorry :D

and fwiw, you can have married or maiden or combo and be fine.

My driver's license has firstname, maiden name, married name and all of my other documents (airline frequent flyer miles, birth certificate, etc) have only maiden name (too much hassle to change it all) and I've never had a problem.

From the information I have gathered here on the boards, many TA's make a bigger deal of "legal names" than the cruise lines themselves. I think that is because they (the TA's) are instructed to provide all the possible information you COULD be required to present. I have never heard anyone say they were denied boarding for name problems.
