They don't maintain it that long. They will only look for something for a week and then close out the case. Have recently filed 2 lost items tickets lately.

Looks like OP’s fam member has been searching for over a week. Maybe it depends on the type of item?

They kept my case open for about week before they closed it. I did receive updates every other day before giving up.

Well, no luck for her. She got an email a few days ago that they didn't find the clothes. I am wondering if it's a case of Mousekeeping not checking in the drawers when they do their cleaning.

I would suspect most things left behind are easily located by housekeeping when they prepare the room for the next guest. If it is something that falls behind a piece of furniture or isn't easily seen, it may sit for weeks or never be found. That is probably why Disney closes the issue after a week.
