Left Handed Spirals?

I have found speciality -read expensive- ones on line. Just need plain ones for DS7 for school. Would be happy to buy a case. Have checked Office Depot, Office Max, Walmart, and Target in person and online. Any ideas?

How about the notebooks that have the spiral at the top? Or loose paper? He could store it in a binder or a folder a take the a piece out as needed.

Use conventional ones with hard covers, and just turn them backward and write on the page versos. That's what DH always does.

The pages are laid with a wide margin on the left back side, so as long as the pages are perforated near the spine, it shouldn't matter.

Speaking as a lefty-- Unfortunately, it is a right handed world . I know as moms we want to give our children the best chance at success as possible, but honestly, I'd just buy him regular spirals. There are certain things that will never be "made" for lefties, and your DS is going to have to adjust to most of them. One "lefty" school supply that is a MUST, however, is left-handed scissors. Righty scissors are hinged on the opposite side and when a lefty uses them, it actually pulls the blades apart, instead of squeezing them together. Usually paper just bends or tears, and it rarely cuts, unless you find a tightly hinged pair of righty scissors. Anyhow, I'd buy lefty scissors in a hearbeat, but I'd stick with regular spirals. Your little man is going to be coming home with a spiral indent and pen ink on the side of his hand for the rest of his life. Another lefty here! I just used regular notebooks, because with flipping them over as I took notes, I had the spiral on the right side half the time. In my whole school career I had 2 'lefty' notebooks, and they were really more for show, because again with flipping them over, half the time I had the spiral right under my hand again! I just got used to it, there was always a spiral under my hand, an ink stain down the side of my hand, and once I got to high school the desk was always on the wrong side too! It really is a righty world. I love being a lefty though, there's so much solidarity among all of us. I know whenever I notice another lefty and make a comment to them about it, you can always count on that smile of understanding!

Thanks for all the replies! At home we flip them upside down too! I didn't want anything that looked to diffrent -you know! I was thinking that he could use the full size pad with the spiral at the top (saw it office depot). He uses right handed scissors and cuts with his right hand so no problem there! I don't know why - I just hate the idea of the metal spiral pressed into that little hand.

I just did a search and someone wrote about Mead notebooks - they make one that the spiral has a sleeve on it and a pen loop. A lot of lefties liked it from what I read.

Thanks for the sleeve idea! I hadn't thought about that at all and I remember seeing those in the store. Will go check those out tomorrow!

Yes, he does turn the upside down at home. I did consider the tablet with the spiral on the top. I just didn't want anything to diffrent if you know what I mean. Thanks for the ideas!

OMG--you're describing my family! We always say that my youngest is the oddball of the family since he's a righty! Kind of a nice change having the lefties be the majority!

OP--it's great that you're looking out for your DS in a right handed world. I too went thru school with the ink covered fingers & spiral indentations in my hand. I know that umpteen years ago when I was in high school they did make left handed spiral books & I did use a few of them. I will definitely keep my eyes out for any of them & have subcribed to this post so I can let you know if I see anything out there. I like the idea of the plastic cover that mead has--I'll have to check them out. Luckily my DS7 is just using composition books at this point so we don't have to worry about sprials yet--I'm confident that he'll learn to adapt just like the rest of us lefties when the time comes!
