Ive never bought led christmas lights before and I'm seriously thinking about it because my old lights need to be replaced. Does anyone know of any good deals on them? Thanks!

Somewhere out "there" there are coupons for $3 off any GE Energy Star Christmas lights. Walmart had lights for $5/box - I got 6 boxes for $12!!!!

I'm having a hard time finding the coupons again - I'll keep searching and post the link!

If you could find the coupon that would be great!

Honestly, your best bet is to get these lights right after Christmas. Try to stretch another year out of the ones you currently have.

I love the LED lights. We bought a few cases in the weeks following Christmas last year. They were very easy to find on sale. They are new enough that most people don't understand what they are and many people do not like the look of LED lights. The LEDs are very vivid and piercing but offer limited illumination. They don't offer a warm glow. But you can connect countless strings together and the energy savings are tremendous.

I think ours look good. They are intense lights that can be seen a block away. We have lots of blue and white lights and every time I turn the corner, my first thought is "why are the police at my house?" :lmao:

I went to Lowes last week and they have GE LED Lights with a coupon in each box for $10 off $40 next purchase. Every box had a coupon in it no matter the price or size.
Bought the 1 box, took out the coupon, and used it to buy the rest of my Christmas decorations. Lowe's ranged from $6 and up.

I would get them now if you find a good price. We tried waiting until Christmas last year, and they were gone.

Has anyone noticed if these save money (energy cost)? I know that they're supposed to last a long time...

they are VERY bright and you almost need sunglass for them :cool1:. We bought some for our tree and took them back, i would rather pay more for one whole month than squint at my tree. I think they would be good for outside though.

Must be nice. LEDs are long gone by the time Christmas rolls around here. If you snooze you lose.

We bought two rolls of 200 LED C-7s for $20 from Target on BF, then some boxes of 50 from Lowes using the $3 off coupons previously mentioned but I need at least one more box of 50 and Lowes is out of the kind I bought so I'm hoping they get more before Christmas...

I love LEDs outside, but agree they don't glow enough for a tree.

I got all of mine last year at Wal-Mart after Christmas. They were 75% off! I bought 9 boxes because they were so cheap! I guess it just depends where you are though. Have to agree with others. They are bright. I love my tree, but it takes a little getting used to!

I found Target had quite a few after Christmas, but you have to check the stores a few days before to see who has the most in stock, then get there first thing on the 26th.

I wouldn't trade out my regular lights on my tree for LEDS though, but I love decorating outside.

Disney has changed over all the lights to LEDS and I'm not a fan on the trees indoors, but they look nice in the garland to trim the rooftops.

The LED lights that we're seeing around our neighborhood this year really stick out because of the different brightness, and just don't seem to look as nice. It's probably because I'm just used to the old lights, but seeing the lights (old and LED) side by side, I really prefer the older lights. The LED ones are too white or too bright. Some of my neighbors have added a couple of strands of LED lights to their usual lights, and they really don't look good. It might be better if the whole display was LED but so far they just aren't doing it for me.

I agree! I don't like the look of them and they hurt my eyes. They don't look "christmasy" at all. Guess I'm old-fashioned, it's just not doin it for me.

I love the look of the LED lights. We've replaced almost all of our old lights. It does look better if you don't mix too much old and new though. I bought a whole buch of LED lights on sale at Walmart after Christmas last year.

Ditto! We have the blue led's along the roof line and our "old" icicles and other lights elsewhere. In that small of an amount they look good, but too many hurts my eyes. I think it looks like neon signs, not Christmas, but of course dh doesn't agree and wants all LEDs.

Guess we are really lucky where I live. You've read the comments from others who dislike the LED lights. That is the feeling here. Either the lights are new and an unknown, don't match the current lights, or just don't look like "Christmas". It may be different this year, but I hope we can pick up a few more cases. I like the look. Hubby likes the energy savings. But the selling point for me is the near infinite amount of strings that can be hooked together.

One thing I love about outdoor decorations is every home is typically different, unique and shows a personality of the family. I'm glad LEDs are an option for the families who like them, but just as I don't want an inflatable forest in my front yard (like one neighbor), I wouldn't begrudge them their decorations. I prefer the term "festive" over "tacky".

I'm still trying to figure out what our decorations say about us. Our yard has that definite "neon" look. I guess we are going for the 'used car lot' feel. :lmao:

We replaced all our outdoor lights with LED this year and they are beautiful  Not for everyone I know but then again... I don't care for the blow up stuff that looks "lovely" laying in the yards.... ;)

blech. I bought LED lights for our tree last year and hated them. They were a white that was bright. It reminded me of bright store lighting. I will be getting the regular lights this year....oh well, live and learn:confused3
