DisneyHumbug, do you have AOL? If you do, there are several local phone numbers to dial out of.
Today is our second full day here. While yesterday the temperature was in the high 80's with low humidity, today was humid, humid, humid. Got cooled off with afternoon rains though. It's 6pm now and still drizzling.
I'll try to describe the decor of the rooms. The rug throughout is a base color of sandy beige, with a pretty leaf -green vine motif throughout, with a rosebud type flower on the vines. The curtain pattern is a tiny white and pale green checked background with springs of tiny rosebud bouquets two thirds of the way up, then a white border with a beige leafy pattern, and then the top third a darker green and rose plaid pattern, hanging from pretty white curtain rods. The couch has sea blue cushions with a floral and checked back and floral and checked yellow-gold and sea green throw pillows. The arm chair is made out of a washed green wood with darker blue floral patterned cushions. There are two ladder backed chairs that sit at the bar counter that are in the same washed green as the chair. The bar counter and the kitchen countertop are a mix of browns and beiges, and are marble. All the cabinets in the kitchen are cream with a sea green insets. The dishes are bue and green fiestaware type. The kitchen table is dark wood, as is the coffee table, which looks like a treasure chest. The kitchen table is about 4 feet long and oval in shape, with bench type seating, cushioned in the same green and rose plaid pattern as in the curtain. The armoire holding the tv and
dvc player is cream with sea blue trim. The back splash in the kitchen is beige ceramic tiles interspersed with sea green and seahorse tiles. All in all, it is very beachy and pretty. There are numerous pictures throughout the villa of beach scenes, and there is one picture of the map of the Jersey shore.
I'll describe the rest of the rooms in another post. I wanted to tell you about the picture I saw in the Breezeway section of the BCV's. The Breezeway consists of two seperate rooms seperated by the rotunda type middle section. One of the rooms has the bookcases in it that you see in the pictures Pete posted. Over one bookcase is a large picture of the BCV at night. It is a scene of the quiet pool with the villas in the background. People are h aving a party, and there is a band playing. You can see the Epcot fireworks in the sky, and the Mickey hot air balloon is in the sky. I love this picture!!! I have to find out if there is a print of it for sale. The other room consists of more couches and chairs which all look very comfy, by the way, and a tv, with lots of little chairs for the kiddies in front of the tv.
Did I tell you about the quiet pool? It's not huge, but a very adequate size. People are always swimming in it, rain or shine, morning or night. There is plenty of lounge chairs for all. It's also very pretty at night, with lots of lighting. I'm really enjoying sitting on my balcony watching the people swimming. All the kids seem to be having a ball in the water Our first night here we went down to get in the hot tub. There were six teenagers sitting around the hot tub with their feet dangling in the water, but they didn't have the jets on, and they didn't look like they would be moving any time too soon. At first I didn't know what to do cause I felt like I was crashing a party, but then I thought, what the heck, I'm paying for this too, so I went over, turned the jets on, got in the hot tub, and within three minutes they all left. This was about 11pm. No sooner did the kids leave than four other adults got in. I'm sure if I hadn't taken the bull by the horns, none of the other people would have made a move to go in. I should say, I waited 15 minutes before I did this, and when the kids still didn't make room for others is when I took action. The hot tub sign says it holds 14 people, but the kids were spread out around the hot tub, and weren't making any room for others. So I just joined their party!
Today we went to AK. We went on the new ride Primevil Whirl, and it was short in length, but lots of fun. At first I thought it was a kiddie ride, but you have to be at least 48" to ride. Dinosaur was down for several hours, so we fast-passed it and when we came back it was up and running again, but with a standby time of 60 minutes. I'm glad we fastpassed it. Not sure yet what we're doing tonight.
Oh yea, last night we went to MGM for the fireworks, and they were great. We didn't stay for Fantasmic, but hightailed it out of there and fast walked back to Epcot for Illuminations which was at 10pm instead of 9. Epcot had the best fireworks display I have ever seen. After the regular Illuminations they announced that they were having a special 4th of July fireworks show. Then they shot off fireworks while playing Yankee Doodle Dandy, It's a Grand Old Flag, etc. The fireworks seemed to go on forever and were spectacular. My sons and their friend didn't walk over to Epcot with us, but went back to the room. They could hear the fireworks but couldn't see them and knew they missed a good show. In fact, my one son said he said to his brother and friend,
"guys, I think we just missed out on the best fireworks we'll probably ever see. My daughter and my son's girlfriend missed them also, as they decided to stay at MGM and go on some rides.
Well, I've told you about the good things so far. Now for the few not so good things. We called housekeeping this morning for more towels, as there are seven of us, and there ARE NOT seven sets of towels in the room. I could have washed the towels that we used, but it was only the beginning of our second full day, and I didn't get around to it yet. Well, housekeeping had no problem bringing us more towels, but they said the charge would be $6!!! They told my husband they would bring hand towels, bath towels, etc. What we got were four bathtowels. Can you believe that???? I'm anxious to see my bill to see if they really charged us $6. I washed all the towels right after that. LOL. Let's see, the locks on the bathroom and bedroom doors stink. Half the time they lock, and the other half they don't. When we got back from the parks last night, our clock radio was out in the bedroom. It seemed something tripped the circuit. We couldn't get the fuse box open, so we just moved the clock radio to another outlet, and then this morning the outlet was working again. Who knows?? I had to go searching down a housekeeper to ask for more trash bags for the trash cans. You know, you only get service every four days, right? Well you think they would leave you enough trash bags to bag up your trash. I don't know about you, but with seven adults, four of them under 22, we generate alot of trash, as the kids are forever snacking, drinking sodas, etc. All in all, minor annoyances.
Did I tell you about the alligator? Well, there is an alligator living in the canal at the BCV, and we've seen him several times from our room. I took some pictures of him. People are always alligator watching now. I told my mom when I called her this morning, and all she could say was, "ewwwww".
Okay, gotta go. Talk to you next time. If you think of any questions, just ask, and I'll try to find out.
