Leaving the hubbies and kids behind - A May 2010 PTR, TR has begun!

You know - I actually forgot that you got sick too! and I also don't remember - Did You ever make it to AK? Sort of a depressing way to spend you last day at the house, but I know you still have lots of vacation left!

Can't wait to see your pics tonight!

At the time, it was kind of disappointing to lose park time together but looking back on it, I carry a lot of great memories that include spending time at the house with the kids playing and swimming. I would happily give up the memory of the sickness but really, we had a great time together!

Yes, I did get to AK finally!

Ugggggg, I'm so sorry about all the sickies during that trip! That's awful! I sure hope you've reached the end of them.

I also just wanted to comment on how cute your parents are - what a wonderful example they seemed to have set for you :goodvibes

Yes, that was the end of the sickies...thank goodness!

My parents are very cute. I never realized that it was unusual until I was in college and a friend came home with me one weekend and commented on how my parents held hands and that she never saw her parents do that. It's nice to see people still in love after over 42 years together!

Love all the pics. Looks like y'all had a great time. Can't wait to hear/see more.

I stopped by my parents house yesterday and went through their photo albums to snag pictures from my childhood trips. I was bummed to find there were no Disney pics from our trip there as a teen. Only 4 pictures even exist from that trip, 2 of us playing shuffleboard with my grandparents and 2 from the everglades. I needed 2 albums for our last trip alone...I think digital has really changed how we take photos!

Not much of an update but here goes anyways...

ONLY 6 WEEKS TO GO!!!! It's starting to feel close!

Yesterday I got to go to Des Moines by myself. They boys had only 1/2 day of school and I had an appointment so I dropped them off at the sitters and Greg picked them up after he was done. I got to go shopping and had dinner with a friend who lives there.

One of my stops was at Michaels since I had a 40% off coupon. I picked up a package of iron on transfers. I am going to make Beth and I a couple of matching shirts. The first one is a design that Paula (IloveCrush) did

The other is one I found on the disigns board that I thought would be perfect for our CP day

I'm also going to try one more I found on the disigns board that looks to be a simple process using a bleach pen

I also picked up the last couple gifts I am leaving for the boys and a few fun things to share with the kids I will be meeting along the way in May. Between Target, Michaels and Dollar Tree, there are a TON of great Disney stuff for just a buck!!

Gosh, once I get these shirts made, I may actually break down and start to pack my suitcase!

I had forgotten about how sick your family had gotten! At least you'll only really have to worry about you and Beth this time! Knock on wood!

I am looking forward to heading out on vacation with my mum. I don't see her as much now (though we talk everyday), and we don't spend a whole lot of time with just the two of us anymore. But the thing that throws me off is that we are just such different creatures! We really don't have similar interests...I can't believe that she would pay all that money to go and sit by a pool! That's not my idea of a Disney trip! But I'm sure I can show her the stuff that will change her mind!

Those bleach pen shirts look really cool! I'll have to find out more about that! I bet your shirts will look awesome! I'm starting to think about packing too! Don't you love it!? Our trips are coming so fast!

Love the shirts, especially the bleach pen ones! I bet those wouldn't be too hard to make.

Those shirts are going to be so cute! I especially love the bleach pen ones -- I might have to make one of those myself.

Six weeks!!! :woohoo:
Love those shirt designs!!!! I really like the bleach pen also! Although I did just laugh right out loud when you said "a simple process!!" Let me know how that goes!! I am crafty in my mind just not when it comes to doing something! :rotfl2:

I guess I can understand the desire to just hang out for part of a vacation but I just don't think of Disney as that kind of vacation! Hopefully she will join you for the fun but I'm sure you will have a blast either way!

Will post a link for the shirt thread in the next post!

See comments above

Woo hoo for six weeks!!! Those t-shirts are awesome!!!

I know! with busy weekends for the next couple weeks, I think it will fly by :cool1:

I'm nervous to start on the shirts...don't know if I am talented enough to pull them off :scared:

Oh, I'm totally that way too! I wander around Hobby Lobby with all kind of visions of what I MIGHT be able to do but in reality, my artistic/crafty skills are very few.

2 little tidbits for today

1. I hate to say more that could make my good friend Jen feel bad but...my alma matter beat Kansas!!!!!!! I am a HUGE basketball fan, have been for a long time and March Madness is my favorite time of year! Even when none of my favorite teams are in the tournament, I love following the brackets and I especially love rooting on the underdogs. Well on Thursday, Northern Iowa made it past the first round for only the second time (the last was 20 years ago, the spring before I moved to go to school there). I knew that if UNI brought their A game and Kansas had an off night, they could pull off a win but I never dreamed it might actually happen. I'm still on a basketball high! Today the UNI women play in round 1 (although a LONG shot 16 seed) and the Iowa State women play at home as a 4 seed so there is more basketball ahead today!

2. For those who like the bleach pen t-shirt...here is the link to that thread. The girl who did them did an excellent job of showing the step-by-step process:

Enjoy!

Six weeks!! :yay::woohoo: Love the shirts. Thanks for posting the link to the bleach pen shirt. I was going to ask. I think even I may be able to handle that... but we'll see. :upsidedow

Loved your trip down memory lane with the last trip. So nice to see pictures of happy people in our happy place!! :goodvibes

I figured you'd still be on cloud 9 from that game yesterday! What a crazy game that was, I kept thinking that Kansas was going to turn it on but they never did! I heard brackets being ripped in half all across the country.......

Thanks for the link on how to make the bleach pen shirts, it looks pretty easy, I may just have to try it!

Hi Katie! We made some similar shirts with glue string and spray fabric paint. This bleach pen looks much simpler.
I've missed so much of your ptr but wondered if you considered eating at the Bistro? It was really great!

I don't follow basketball, but even I was stunned when I read the headline about Kansas this morning. What a great feat for your alma mater!

Thanks for posting the link to the bleach pen shirt -- I don't have a trip planned but I'd love to make those anyway.

I can't believe you are at six weeks already! :yay: I'm so excited for you!

Congrats for your team's victory! (sorry jen!) :)

Thanks for the link! I wonder if I could come up with some other kind of design too...hmm...

Did you start packing over the weekend?

:lmao: If I think I can make that shirt, anybody can!

I will admit, my own bracket was busted on that one...and I've never been happier about it!!

I remember admiring those shirts on one of your TR's. I actually started looking for something like that before finding the bleach pen one...very similar design!

We didn't really discuss the Bistro since it's not on the dining plan, can't wait to hear about it. Did you take food porn?

I don't follow basketball, but even I was stunned when I read the headline about Kansas this morning. What a great feat for your alma mater!

:cheer2: It's a great weekend to be an Iowan! All 3 universities women's teams also made it into the tournament. U of I won yesterday and Iowa State is kicking bootay as I type!

I wear my Disney shirts all the time! I don't see why you can't make on for fun :confused3

Did you start packing over the weekend?

See, now that would require a little thing called creativity which I am sorely lacking! :lmao: My scientific brain needs directions...blueprints are even better!

Haven't started packing yet...too busy watching basketball and making plans for a perhaps foolish trip to St Louis :rolleyes1

*******************************

Maybe we are crazy, maybe we should NOT even be considering it but...

:jumping1: Greg and I are going to watch UNI play on Friday!!!!!! :jumping1:

We started pricing out tickets and found that tickets for Friday's game aren't much cheaper than those for both Fri and Sun. As it turns out, I have a brother who lives just couple hours from St Louis. You see...UNI will be playing MSU on Friday. My brother got his undergrad degree from UNI and his grad degree from MSU. He will be happy with whichever team wins on Friday and is interested in going to the Sunday game so we will share the cost of the tickets.

Greg is taking Friday off work, we will drive down and go to both games then drive home. The boys will go to a friends house after school and spend the night.

Maybe we're crazy...but if they get a win, it will be totally worth it!

Have a good time Katie! Win or lose it should be fun, Don and I have gone to NCAA tournament games before and it's a blast!

I wear my Disney shirts all the time! I don't see why you can't make on for fun :confused3

Oh, I'm totally going to! They look like they'll be a lot of fun to make.

Have a good time at the game this weekend -- I don't follow basketball but that sounds like it will be a blast :woohoo:

Win or lose, it should be a great trip.
Everybody needs to have some special fun things along the way to help keep going through the mundane things in life.

Oooh! That sounds like fun miss Katie! :)

As for the shirts...my creative brain could come up with a design but my non-scientific brain may have trouble executing it! ;)
