Leaving soon a few questions

It's time to start packing and we are going to be leaving on Saturday. We will have at least 5 full days at the park so I'm not worried about seeing and doing everything because we will have lots of time to do it all. Plus it will be our third family trip so I have a pretty good idea what to expect. I do have a few questions though. I'm still confused about the best way to photopass. Is buying a PP moot now with MP? Should I just buy MP for myself everyday for the PP even if I don't intent to buy MP for everyone that day? Is there no reason to buy the PP separately? I am doing a couple of character meals and BBB.

It's going to be way too hot for my tastes! Will it be cool in the morning at rope drops? My son hates to be cold and loves wearing sweaters but I don't want to be dragging them around all day after it gets hot so will it be chilly for long? Will it cool down at night much on an 80/90s kind of day?

Is Soarin' still a really long wait? Should we make that our first stop at DCA?

Can we get FP at EMH? Or do you have to wait until the official open?

On some days it looks like DL opens at 8 but DCA opens at 9 with the EMH at 8. I thought the EMH was before either park opened? I think that's how it was last time I was there.

Does anyone what season the 7th Sister is on that Star Wars cartoon? I wanted to show the kids so they know who she is for Jedi Training.

My son really wants to see Thor, is he still at DCA? I just saw Groot as part of a dance off, are there any other superheroes still around?

My daughter loves Sad (does she have a name?) from that Pixar movie about feelings (I can't remember the name!). Are those characters around? Or Zootopia?

How early can you get a spot for Castle fireworks? I think our only chance for that is on our travel day so I think it would be worth staking out a spot.

How bad would stand by lines be on a Saturday afternoon/evening? I'm sure all of the FP would be gone by the time we arrive so I'm wondering if I should prep the kids in advance that we might not do the rides if the lines are going to be really bad. From the other threads it sounds like the standby waits can be awful. If they are bad what would you recommend doing before we can start waiting for fireworks?

Just buy mp daily instead of pp.

Yes. I've heard you should do soarin first.

On max pass you can get a fp before park opens. You can't get to the kiosks for fp with paper tickets.

EMH for dlr hotel guests opens one hour prior to that parks opening time. Same with mm for 3+ ticket holders.

You can camp out for fireworks whenever you want. I'd make that my goal and tell the kids that. We're going to have a snack and watch fireworks. Then if there are standby lines you're willing to wait in it will be a surprise for them.

You're going to be dragging around the sweaters if he gets cold easily. Even on 90 degree summer days I need a light jacket/sweater for rope drop and night (I too get cold easily).

Disneyland app will show you current wait times so start monitoring it today to get an idea of what you're looking at for Soarin' and other rides.

DCA opens later during "off season" its weird when you're used to the early park always being an hour earlier than either park opens but that's off season for you!

I don't have any advice for you and can't really answer your questions, but have fun!! We'll be there in about a week and cannot wait! Thanks for the reminder about getting started to pack. I should probably do that before last minute! lol

We bought the $99 photopass, it included some prints from one of our character meals.
Soarin has had long waits and is running out of fastpasses fairly early, so make it a priority in the morning to pull as pass.

If you don't want to drag extra clothing, etc. around - consider the lockers. We used them for the first time a few weeks ago and it worked great. All credit card, and you have a code so you can go in an out as many times as needed. There are some lockers inside the gates along main street.

EMH (Extra Magic Hour) happens in the hour before the park where EMH is happening opens to regular guests. So it is possible to have an 8:00 am opening at DL, a 9:00 am opening in DCA and have EMH in DCA be from 8:00 am to 9:00 am.

I'm not familiar with the 7th Sister, but this website has a listing of the episodes where she appears.

If you download the Disneyland App, you can see which characters are scheduled to be out and about today. I took a quick look and Black Widow, Captain America, Hawkeye, and Spiderman are listed as being out at some point today. I did not see Thor on the list, but that doesn't mean he's not around anymore. I did see Judy and Nick both listed. None of the Inside Out Characters were listed in the app.

Any advice on what time to try and stake out a spot tomorrow for fireworks? DD has never been awake for them before so I really want to try and make sure we see them.
