My wife and I are planning a night out alone and having someone watch our 8 y/o. This makes me very nervous!! Has anyone used the AKL (I think) Simba's play room, for child care? Was it safe and did you children enjoy themselves? What the in-room babysitter?
Any feedback would be most appreciated!

My DDs (9 & 7) have been to both Simba's and Neverland Club at the Poly and they love them both. Simba's seemed to be much more structured and the woman who was in charge was delightful. They were a little nervous at first (we homeschool and they are rarely away from me), but the lady was very light and matter-of-fact and got them going on an activity right away after a "Give mom and dad a hug and a kiss and let's get started!" We were running late one evening (not late past closing, but later than we'd said) and she was so kind, telling us to take our time and reassuring that DDs were fine. When we arrived, they were sacked out on the floor with blankets and pillows watching a movie.

Now, for my DDs, *NOTHING* beats the Neverland Club at the Poly. It is a bigger club, less structured, but with lots more "atmosphere". There is a big game area, lots of crafts, a dinner buffet (served from the crocodile!) as opposed to choosing a meal at Simba's, and movies. All the clubs have lifeguards that come to help out as part of their training, too.

On our upcoming trip, DH isn't going, so DDs were plotting things for me to do alone so they could score an evening at the Neverland Club...that's how much they love it.

Our children love the Child-Care programs at all the resorts, with Neverland Club being their favorite. That being said, Simba's Cub house was high on their list. The kids always ask to go, and never want to leave. We've found the care to be excellent over all, far better than an in-room sitter, which we were less comfortable with. More kids, more open space in the clubs, all the better.

The child care centers sound like a good choice. I just can't imagine leaving my child in a hotel room alone with a stranger period!

I have DS booked in to the Cub's Den at WL for Valentine's night so my fingers are crossed he will enjoy himself. He is a bit younger (will be just turned 4) so we aren't planning on leaving the resort, just maybe having a nice dinner and enjoying each other's company.

When we stayed at WL in 2004, our then 4yr DS loved the kids club. We went down every afternoon for free crafts and he loved the place. I wanted to let him stay there one night, but the wife didn't agree. so we took him to our dinner. the people working there were so genuine and great with the kids. I would let my kid stay anytime.

We left our DS (4) and DD (6) there while we had a leisurly meal at Boma. I wasn't sure how DS would do, but as soon as he saw the giant pacman game, he never looked back. I watched a couple other families come in and I was impressed with how the CMs guided the children into the room and got them settled with activities.

HTH!

Just wanted to add that we have left our DD (she is almost 7 mow) at Simba's, Cub's and also the Camp Dolphin...and she has loved each and every one. EVERY TIME we came to get her she asked to stay. It is so nice to enjoy a leisurely dinner with your SO and know that your child is having fun!

We left our kids, DD 11, DS 9, and DD 6, at the Cub's Den at the WL for a night out and they all loved it. My oldest daughter was the only one to complain (about the food) other then that it was great and I would'nt hesitate to do it again.
