I am a little perplexed by the upcoming weather forecast for WDW. It appears that it is going to be in the low 70's-upper 60's for highs and lows in the high 40's-low 50's during out stay, plus a chance of showers so far for many of the days...including marathon day!

Let me preface this by saying we are a group of 3, me, DH & 7 yo DS. I plan on packing the obvious (pjs, undergarment, toiletries and the like) but don't know what to do about outerwear. We all have really warm Columbia ski jackets/parkas that we wear here in NY for the winter. Mine has a zip out fleece layer and DH & DS' are just parkas. They are great for really cold weather like what we have here now and in the next few days (10-30 degrees).

Should we plan on wearing these for the cold nights or do most people pack a lighter-weight (but warm) jacket or coat? We have lots of hoodies and fleece pull-over jackets from Old Navy, but I'm not sure that would be warm enough, yet our "winter" coats seem too heavy. Any advice about this would be great!

Also, we have gotten advice to dress in layers in the AM. Like a t-shirt with jeans and a sweatshirt over it, maybe gloves in case the temps are low. Does this seems reasonable? We are so used to vacationing at WDW during the heat and humidity (Sept, Oct, May & July trips) that we just can't wrap our brains around the idea that it will be cold-lol!:yo-yo:

I appreciate any advice you all can give!

I was at WDW during the "extreme cold spell" last year. I would say take hoodies, sweats, gloves, scarves - anything to help you have a better time. I ended up buying sweats down there and you know how expensive those are!! I think had I been more prepared I would of had a better time but being cold in WDW is not a fun thing. Congrat's on the marathon!! Have a blast!

We'll be in there Jan 24-28 ... I'm planning on bringing our winter coats, *spring* wind-breaker type jackets, fall fleece jackets, and maybe even a sweatshirt or two ... been reading about cold evenings on the trip report board ... and I rather be prepared for cold weather than not.

Of course, I'm also bringing the kids swim suits ... if I don't the weather will be super-warm, LOL!

We went last December 2002 and are going in 5 days again - wow I bettre get packing!! We wore long sleeve t's and jeans. Had fleece jackets from Old Navy. We wore our Christmas Mickey hats daily in December and I remember taking them off to adjust hair or whatever and thinking 'man it's cold!' So a hat really helps to hold in the warmth. We never do poncho's anymore..we bought our own Nylon rain jackets in the camping section of Target. They look really nice and you don't blend in with the sea of yellow! But the synthetic fiber over my fleece jacket cmpletely kept me warm without the bulk of a coat..and you're going to need a something waterproof anyway!

Also I had a 'cuddleduds' (silky underwear) t-shirt that I wore under my shirt on some very cold mornibgs and then went the BR and took it off and waded up in my bag when it warmed up. You can get at Dillards Dept store and I've seen other brands at discount stores like Target.
