Leaving on Thursday for Bal Harbour FL - anyone been there?

I'm really looking forward to it - but I've never been here before. My DH will be in some meetings...so I'll be occupying myself for a while. Sitting by the pool/beach with a good book is fine by me. But I'm just curious if anyone else has been here before and if you have any suggestions.

I've stayed there for business a couple times -- in one of my favorite hotels I've ever stayed at, the Beach House Bal Harbor.

There's tons of shopping and dining (albeit, mostly $$$$$$) and, depending on where you're staying, a very good stretch of beaches. Aside from that, I'd head more towards Miami Beach and South Beach and walk around that area as well.

My dad used to take me to the Sheraton around Orange Bowl time to see the footbal players. I always wanted to stay there!

I used to spend a lot of time in Bal Harbour because my grandparents had a condo around there. I loved to window shop at the mall there alhough most things were out of my price range. Aventura mall is huge and it's also nearby. South Beach isn't that far away either
