My fiance and I will be visiting Disney for the first time 2 weeks from today!!! I have been doing all types of research all over the internet to try and find out as much information as possible to ensure we have the best time when were down there. Any tips you guys have for a first timer would be greatly appreciated. Also any age appropriate things to hit or avoid (I'm 22, he's 21) would help out a ton. I know so many of you on this board have been to Disney 10, 20, 30 or even more times so I figured who better to get this type of info from than the experts! Thanks!

My #1 tip is to pace yourself. Don't feel so rushed to get from place to place that you miss the best parts of WDW. Take time to enjoy the scenery, and don't be afraid to visit an attraction/ride/show more than once.

Have a great trip! :)

There are a couple of places that I avoid due to them being geared completely to the under 10 set and take too much of my precious ride time they are:

AK -
Pocahontas Storytelling
Petting Zoo
really the entire train ride and ecostation are nice, but if you are attempting to maximize the actual rides and shows, you could miss this on your first trip
Tricerotops Spin (if I want Dumbo, I'll stand in line for Dumbo)

Epcot -
Living Seas - I am on strike from there until the ride comes back or they greatly fix it!
Innoventions - honestly have never been in there. I do Future world until the countries open up and then head on over.

MGM -
Playhouse Disney - Honestly never saw one episode of this so I have no clue who the characters even are
Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground - little too big for this one
Sounds Dangerous - good A/C, but not that great

MK -
Toontown during the day! Wait for evening to tour here if you wish
Tomorrowland Speedway - basically antique cars disguised as racecars - the wait here can get quite long
Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse - basically a large playgroud
Tom Sawyer's Island - nice and slow paced, but if you are in a time restraint, you could lose an hour or so here and not notice it.

Really, just don't try and do it all. Accept that there will be things that you will not be able to get to. Not only will you be less stressed while traveling, but it gives you the perfect excuse to go back again!

I remember really enjoying Pleasure Island & the Boardwalk at that age.

***no flames please....I was in college & yes....I drank a few back then.

My BF and I just went the first week in January (he's 23, I'm 21), and we had a lot of fun. I completely agree with all of the tips given already, especially the one with cash! We brought more than we wanted to spend (you know, just in case!), and ended up coming home with a lot. It is important to pace yourselves...you can cover alot of ground during the day because you don't have children, but make sure you take time to sit on a bench and just relax. We did this outside of World Showcase in Epcot and had a great time!

-We are into clubbing, so I really wish I would have brought some clothes to go to Pleasure Island in...if you guys are into clubs, be sure to bring some clothes to do that! I didn't have anything that I would have wanted to wear to go into anywhere...we just walked along and had some drinks, but I would have loved to go inside!

-On the Ride list: Snow White's Scary Adventure will not be scary, don't make this a priority to do! Also, if you like Winnie the Pooh, get a Fastpass for this ride. We were there and the line was always 30-45 mintues long.

Don't try to see anything because it won't happen!

I'm not sure where you are staying or what type of tickets you have, but if you Ultimate Park Hopper, you might want to check out Disney Quest at night...we stopped in there a few times...my BF is highly into arcade games and he had fun playing all of them!

If you or him are light eaters, try and split some of the meals. I don't really eat a lot, and always had leftovers after eating!

Character meals can be fun!

Enjoy your trip! If you have anymore questions, feel free to PM me or send an email (HFMEL04@msn.com)!

ktglads gave you the exact same "things to skip" list that I would have. Also ditto to those who have advised you to take some time to just soak up the atmosphere. If you haven't already done so, get a copy of The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World by Bob Sehlinger and use those touring plans in the back of the book---they'll save you hours of time waiting in lines and help you make sure you see everything that's important to you. Have a magical trip!

Thanks for all the tips guys....now I know some things to definately avoid and some more things to bring. Thanks Melissa for the tip on Pleasure Island, sounds like it could be a fun night out!

Best advice - don't wear any cute shoes. Remember you'll be walking at least 3 plus miles per day, no matter how much you don't like tennis shoes bring a nice pair and wear them. If you sit on a bench and watch for a while, you will see a bunch of crazy women walking around in shoes that they will be sorry for wearing. Don't forget your sunglasses like I did last visit. Make sure to leave a day for a waterpark - they are so much fun. Check out PI one night and the Boardwalk another night. Both are fun. Make sure to check out most rides at least once unless you definately know that it will make you sick then don't.

Don't stress, take it easy, laugh and look at each other often and smile. That is how you make memories. Have a great trip and right a trip report.

I would try and figure out what attractions you want to see in each park. That always helped my wife and I. Also, take advantage of EE if you are staying on property.

The lines for the rides are also shorter during the parades, so ride some of the attractions during the parades. However, if you want to see a the parade the above will not help you out much.

One thing that helps us is to eat at odd times. Like a lot have said, pace yourself.

A nice thing to do is make Priority Seating at California Grill. Make them around 8:00 and watch the fireworks at MK from there. My wife and I do this a lot and it is a nice place to watch the fireworks.

You could also try to book the Grand 1 Yatch and have dinner on it and watch the Mk fireworks from there. I have not done this but I would like to. I have no idea how much it costs.

One last thing is you can book a seat at the Chef's table at Victoria and Alberts. Again I have no idea how much it costs, but this is on my list also.

Hope that gives you some ideas.
