Leaving for Orlando... for work

IMHO, Orlando is the worst location for a conference.

Personally... because everyone on the plane is in "vacation mode" - kids screaming, parents laughing, talking about Mickey, etc. And there I sit in my bus casual with my laptop

Professionally... no one is focused on learning/networking/buying, etc. Some take their kids and skip out on the exhibit hall altogether.

Not to mention... the Orange County Convention Ctr is in a horrible location... right on I-drive... impossible to get to quickly.

Oh well. Maybe I'll try to go to Downtown Disney tomorrow night or something. Anyone have any recommendations for something to do near I-drive alone?

As much as I love Disney I have to agree that it is the worst place for a large conference/trade fair. You are SO right...Orange County Convention Center is awful....other convention centers are so much easier to deal with!

Having said that, I love DW for 'smaller' conferences. Have done or gone to programs at the Dolphin and Contemporary and it has been great! From a planning standpoint....DW is a big draw!

Look on the bright side...any stop at DW is better than none!

I was told yesterday that my company wants to send me to Orlando to train someone for 2 days. I said can we make it a Thursday & Friday so I can extend it to a long weekend? They said sure! So I figure I'll fly down Wednesday night, do the training Thurs & Fri, then check-in at a disney hotel (probably CBR) on Friday evening and stay until Sunday! Don't have dates set yet but my guess is it will be in July, too bad it's so hot then!
