Leaving for BLT today!!..UPDATE...more pics of BLT added 9/14..cruise pics added 9/15

Nice pictures! Your view looks very nice! The "in use" picture is helpful! :thumbsup2 Did you put the coffee table/footstool under the TV cabinet "ledge"? Or...does it fit well there, if you put it elsewhere?

Few more comments on the room: The bed is very comfortable...!! Such a nice suprise because I hate to travel and sleep in a bed that will give me a backache everytime I wake in the am.....not here, the bed is great.

One negative I have to say is the railing on the balcony..... my daughters initial response was to step up on the solid section and grab hold of the railing...... freaked us out as it is a long drop and children can very easily step up there, lean over, and down they go. We keep the door locked at all times and they are not allowed out unless we are there. Here is a pic:

And while I am at it, here are a few of the sunrise this am:

We actually moved it in front of the lock off door, there was a little spot there and then we put our suitcase on top of that. Still plenty of room to move around.

Breakfast with Cindy yesterday was priceless. The girls were in awe of all the princesses and how each one came up to them and talked with them. IMO that was worth every penny! The park itself is empty.....we walked onto every ride that we wanted.....no wait for Splash Mountain, no wait for Mickeys PhilharMagic (which was awesome!), no wait for Pirates...it is perfect! The longest we waited was for Flying Dumbo which was about 10min and then to see Ariel, that was about 25min. We are not sure if we will head back there today or to AK...

After the park we had dinner at Chef Mickey's...it was okay, food was blah but the girls had fun seeing the characters.

But you want to know what the girls loved the best? Can you guess? Yup, the pool and slide right here at BLT!!! The pool is open from 7am to 12mn, and the guards are on from 10am to 8pm, so that is when the slide is open. Perfect temperature in the water and for those wonder about swim vests for children, they have them here so no need to pack them! The ones for the younger kids stap across the chest and then a strap goes up between the legs; the older children can opt no to have the lower strap.

Off to another fun filled day and I will update from the cruise too, for those of you wondering.

Oh, one more thing, we didn't make it to TOWL last night, the girls were exhaused and in bed even before wishes began, but I was able to view them from the balcony!!

Thank you for all the pictures. The one with the sofa open is great.

The railing really irritates me. That particular design is pretty cheap and easy to do and very very common but I am not a fan of it. Being such a family orientated destination there are better options out there they could have chosen. (sorry to be a downer...I'm a building designer and poor design choices where safety is an issue irks me)

But it seems like you are having a nice time. I like the view. It gives such variety. Sure it is only a partial MK view, but the lake is beautiful:woohoo:
Interesting review of Chef Mickey's...I'm so undecided about that....

As for the kids loving the pool and slide....such is the life....:rotfl:
Can't wait to see more pictures!
popcorn::

Love, Love the updates and the pics! Especially the one with the sofa bed open. Do you feel crowded at all?? My son's are 7 and 9(in OCT.) I wonder how cramped it is with four although they are still fairly small.

Please keep feeding my addiction to BLT!! More i beg of you!:worship:

Great pictures!! Enjoy the rest of your trip and your cruise. Looking forward to hearing about that!!!:)

Looks great. Going to be able to enjoy it myself in January. Thanks for the pictures.

So we ended up spending today in the MK. Again another day of crowdless lines....no wait on all the major attractions. Our girls loved run away train so much we would get off and then get right back in line, or should I say we would walk right back up to the loading station!

We are headed back to the pool, after every ride today they would ask when they could go back on the slide at the pool :rotfl2::rotfl2: Our plan is to stay there until 8pm and then go to the TOTWL for a drink or two during wishes!!! I'll take some photos from there....

How high is the actual railing? Sorry to hear it was low enough that it would endanger a child. We lived in a high rise condo for around 10 years and I always worried about kids on the balcony. It seems railings and kids just don't work, it must remind them of jungle gyms.

Thanks for posting the great pics. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

I would be interested in the overall height as well. The issue for me is the concrete and then railing. So if a child can step onto the top of the concrete "wall" then the railing "height" becomes less. It is much better to make the slab turn up at the end of the floor plate slab as minimal as possible (it is need to do with drainage but I can't imagine it needs to be that much) and then have as long as possible vertical balusters such that they take up most of the height and there isn't a big boost up the child can climb onto.
[I don't mean to hijack the thread...just as you brought it up I thought I would comment.]

I'm really surprised at the short queues! It must be wonderful having such short queues with kids in tow. It makes it a more magical experience.
I am getting ridiculously jealous of you at this point!!!

I'd love to hear about the TOTWL tonight as they are apparently letting in CRO cash guests now as well so it would be interesting to see if there are number increases

I also worry about children on balconies with this type of railing. This one looks very unsafe. I'm sure the bars are spaced close enough where a child couldn't squeeze through, but from the picture it looks wide enough that they could. I recently saw a picture of a balcony at a high rise hotel and the enclosure was made of clear material and went from the floor of the balcony up several feet. I wonder why Disney doesn't think of this!

We did go to TOTW last evening, and again it was a wonderful experience. Rich remembered us immediately, shook Dh hand and started asking the girls all about their Disney trip....I think he was a bit suprised at how much they had to say! Our server was Lydia and she brought out so goldfish for the kids and some nice drinks for us (the margarita is super yummy).

I did ask Rich about the cash paying guests and he did validate that DVC members who are paying cash may use the lounge. What they need to do is contact member services who will make a note of thier DVC membership on their keycard and then access will be granted. But the cash option is only for DVC members paying cash at this point.

Here are a few pictures of the balcony:

And some pictures with my DD's. The one on the left is 45" tall and the smaller one is 40" tall. Don't mind their bedhead as I made them stand by the railing right after getting up. And the second picture is for perspective only!! This is our fear, stepping up like that and leaning over....

Hope these answer some questions!!

While that may be a design oops, it's always best to watch children on any balcony. Kids are inventive, and even if that balcony wasn't designed like that, a pre-schooler could move a balcony chair or table next to the railing and stand on either of those items. The thing that makes this scarier, is a room could be on the 15th floor. A similar thing could happen from a 3rd floor balcony at another resort.

I'm glad you made a rule about your kids not being out there without parental supervision. :thumbsup2 I hope all parents follow suit, but unfortunately not all parents are wise. :sad2:

Perhaps Disney will post a "disclaimer" or warning on the balcony and/or balcony doors.

Your photos are great, thanks so much for posting them.:worship:

I stayed in a studio with my 12 and 10 year old in August. I found the room to be too small.
I spoke with the CM working at the "open house" room at the Boardwalk Villas and he told me the BLT studios are the smallest.
Boardwalk studios are bigger... I stayed in one last October with a friend and it was MUCH more comfortable. Those few extra feet make a big difference.

I had a BLT studio booked for my sister, a friend and myself for March .... when I came home I changed that to a 1 Bedroom.

BTW..... that CM also told me the 1 bedroom units in the BLT are bigger than 1 bedroom unit in Boardwalk.

Sorry, I hope I am not hijacking your thread!
